~ “It is heartbreaking to read the story of their separation, two people who never got over each other no matter the involvements in between…and swooningly, gorgeously romantic to see them working their way back to each other through poem and song.” –LeeAnn, Goodreads reviewer and bookseller
She was the girl.
The only girl.
The only girl I ever wanted.
The only girl I ever loved.
The only … loved.
The only girl I could ever love.
And I killed it.
I destroyed it.
I threw her love away.
For nine years, I’ve kept the memory of her locked in the deepest corner of my heart…all the while hating myself for what I did to her.
To us.
Now, without warning, she’s walked back into my life.
I’m covered in tats.
She’s covered in Polo.
I write heavy metal songs.
She writes chick-lit.
My eyes are angry.
Her eyes are sad.
I still long for her with every fiber of my being.
But I have no idea if she feels the same.
I guess it’s time to find out.

This story had all of the angst and heartbreak and healing and I’m left feeling maudlin and wistful. Such a good read! I find myself connecting with Zach way more than I connected with Violet until about halfway through and then I couldn’t decide who I related to more. Loved this story is second chances and forgiveness.
Everything happens for a reason. We do not control our hearts. Our hearts control us even when we deny their existence. This book told the constant tug of war story brilliantly.
This is a story of 2nd chance love, & how fate can play a very important part. I’m a big believer in fate, as my family moved next door to my now husband’s family, when we were both 8 years old. Violet (Like the Flower) & Zach’s story started when they were both young & maybe not ready. It didn’t end well with a lot of heartbreak. Over 9 years …
I have read many of Ms. Regnery’s books, and for me, this one was just okay. I love the Blueberry Lane series, and ‘Don’t Speak’ just stays with me, so I always hope every book is just as good. I know that is unrealistic, but still. It was, however, well edited – just a few misses here and there.
Zach and Violet met in college and had a whirlwind …
This is a beautiful, heart wrenching story about love lost and refound. Have your tissues handy.
Violet Smith, chick-lit novelist and poet extraordinaire, and Zach Aubrey, heavy-metal songwriter, have a history that neither can forget. They were best friends in college. Their feelings deepened and they were each others firsts, but after that one …
This is one of my all-time favorite rock romances and second chance romances. Zach and Violet’s early relationship (beautifully handled in flashbacks and memories) is so realistic and painful in its passion and immaturity and lack of perspective and experience, and their renewed relationship as adults with history has so much depth and emotion as …
I enjoyed this book. It was a good read. It is a stand alone read with a HEA. I would definitely recommend it.
