Christopher, aka Kit, leads a double life. On the outside he pretends to be a womanizer, scoundrel, and so very much more living up to the Carlisle name but this is all a front. Instead he is secretly a spy that goes against orders when is partner is murdered as he choosing to investigate after being told not to. During this he runs across Diana Morgan the sister of the man he believes is responsible. She is being played in this larger game though she has no clue when he steps in to save the day. Instead of staying away from her after that as he knows he should he finds himself drawn instead which puts them in some dicey situations as the whole thing plays out. Luckily they fall in love along the way despite attempts not to. A wonderful historical romance that gives you all the feels while adding enough suspense to keep it all moving as well as living up to the Carlisle legend fitting the series so well. A must read for fans of historical romance. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Goodness – can those Carlisle’s get any better? It is a good thing there aren’t many of them left without their HEA’s or the author would be hard-pressed to keep making them better and better. I really am sad to learn that the author doesn’t intend any more full-length novels in this series – but maybe a novella or two. I’d like to see some associated stories for those characters that we meet and like, but don’t hear from again – like Garrett Morgan.
In this suspenseful, action-packed book filled with mystery, intrigue, and romance we finally get the answer to the mystery that was left hanging in the series The Secret Life of Scoundrels. Again, we meet Nathaniel Grey, Along Came a Rogue, and he has been very busy since his book. He’s been hot on the trail of the traitor, knows who the traitor is, and now all he has to do is spring his trap. Well, it WAS all he had to do until someone got in his way.
Christopher (Kit) Carlisle has been searching for the man who savagely murdered his partner – and now he has him in his sights. That man, Garrett Morgan, will be in the pub tonight meeting French spies and Kit is going to catch him in the act. Kit arrives early to get the lay of the land, and eventually, a boy/young man comes sauntering in and sits down with the French. Has Garrett sent someone in his place? Apparently, because he isn’t in sight. Then, things go south and Kit ends up rescuing the young lad – only it isn’t a lad – and he recognizes the woman. It is Diana Morgan, daughter of General Thaddeus Morgan. (NOTE: we met Diana in As the Devil Dares). Is she working with her brother?
Diana’s brother, Garrett, has been kidnapped and she is required to pay the ransom which is a few pages from her father’s diary. Diana will do absolutely anything to protect her family – even dressing as a male and strolling into a tavern to deliver pages from her father’s papers to a kidnapper. When the kidnapper refuses the papers, things don’t go well and the kidnapper tries to harm her – only to be thwarted by – of all people – the scapegrace Christopher Carlisle.
Nobody in this book is who they appear to be and they are all filled with secrets and agendas. It is fun to figure out who is who and what their agendas are. There is a fun twist at the end and, of course, a lovely HEA.
I hope you’ll enjoy this book as much as I did!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christopher (Kit) Carlisle leads a dual life. In one his persona is that of a scapegrace, second son who spends his time drinking, gambling, and women. However, all that is to cover his occupation as an agent for the Home Office, one of their best. Kit is undercover in a traven, hoping to catch a traitor when he passes papers to a Frenchman. He suspects this traitor is responsible for his partner’s murder. Instead of the Morgan he wants, he catches Diana Morgan. It is hard to resist a Carlisle man, certainly Diana is susceptible to them. At one time she was engaged to Christopher’s cousin, Robert and now there is Christopher himself. Now she trying to save her brother, while Kit wants to destroy him. Being at odds over her brother does not stop their mutual attraction. Anna Harrington saved the best Carlisle and his story for last in the series. Kit has fascinated me ever since he was introduced previously in the series. His book was not disappointing. So full of intrigue, danger, spies, secrets, and romance…just my kind of read. Although I correctly guessed the villain early on in the story, how he would be unmasked was up in the air until the end. My favorite book and Carlisle in the series. I will miss them, but who knows maybe they will turn up in another series.
I received this eBook from the author and publisher for an honest review.
In this exciting story, book 6 of Capturing the Carlisles, loves proves that it can see past what the world sees into the real heart. The characters draw you in from page one and as the story progresses it has you guessing what the secrets are. It’s nice when you are proven right but there are still more surprises. There is action, suspense, surprise and romance. Plenty to keep you turning the page. There was a sex scene that this reviewer as usual skipped and it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book. I haven’t read the whole series so this can be read as a stand alone but it is much better reading them all as there is a story that flows through each. I received this book as an ARC and freely give my review.
I absolutely loved After the Spy Seduces by Anna Harrington and am sad to see the series ending.
Christopher and Diana’s love story was the perfect way to end a wonderful series. It had plenty of danger, suspense, romance and love to keep you entertained for hours.
Diana goes undercover to find out what happened to her brother, but soon finds herself in the middle of something more dangerous than she ever expected and the only one who seems to be able to help her is Christopher Carlisle, but his help might come with the cost of having heart broken.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
Kit has quite a reputation, but it is all for a good reason.
Diana is a beautiful woman who is devoted to her family and she would do anything at all to keep all of them safe.
The story is well-written and well-developed. The characters are very likeable since the beginning. The story is intriguing and keeps you interested since the first page. Nobody is as they seem: the good ones are not so good, and the bad ones are not so bad.
It is always a pleasure to read Anna Harrinton’s stories.
Christopher (Kit) Carlisle, he had been working for the Home Office for ten years. His best friend and companion in crime had been beaten to death. He wanted the man who did it. He knew who it was but he needed proof.
Diana Morgan is twenty-three and is getting close to being put on the shelf. Her father is General Morgan a very influential man. There were only three of them left and they missed her mother.
I enjoyed this story with its intrigue and spies everywhere. Since Bonaparte, things should have calmed down but it was not the case. The General had written a diary while he was campaigning and
keep his notes which could prove invaluable. The French wanted that diary and would do anything to get it.
Diana and Kit had to run for their lives several times. It is action-packed, thrilling and has a touch of humor. The author has written a wonderful novel that you can sink your teeth in. Well written and so mesmerizing. It is so worth the time and effort to read this.
I received this from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
Kit and Diana’s story was a wild ride. Anna wrote a story that had me wondering who was a killer and why from the the first page. Kit and Diana are better together as one. Anna wrote a strong woman who is willing to die for love of her family and a good man. Kit was out for vengeance but found what he truly needed, love a good woman. Anna has written another great story and wanting the next one. I received an advanced reader copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
Anna did it again. Another fantastic story. I loved it and it got emotional in some spots. Christopher and Diana were perfect for each. I loved how Diana got under Christopher’s skin.
After the Spy Seduces by Anna Harrington is Book #6, in her fascinating “Capturing the Carlisles” series and the conclusion of this wonderful series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Meet, Christopher (Kit) Carlisle, the Earl of Spalding and Diana Morgan and follow them on their journey of love, espionage, mystery, danger, a traitor, spies, and a HEA. Diana and Christopher (Kit) are definitely an unlikely pair.
Well written and well excuted. The cast of characters are charming engaging and will capture your heart. The storyline is fast paced, intriguing, with an exciting and captivating hero and heroine. AFTER THE SPY SEDUCES has everything a Historical romance reader enjoys to read about and more.
Once again Ms. Harrington has created a story that grabs the reader from page one to the last page and beyond. She is a very talented storyteller. A must read!!

Anna Harrington does it again!!! This story of Kit (Christopher) and Diana will have you so involved, you do not want to put it down. Kit is a spy who pretends he is a Rogue. Diana is the daughter of a General who wants to help her family and does not want to be involved with anyone who is not stable. Diana needs Kits help to help her family. This story of Kit and Diana has excitement, mystery, family and of course romance and love. This book is so good I stayed up half of the night to finish it.
Book six of the Capturing the Carlisles series a well written story with a very good storyline and the story flowed smoothly from page to page. I enjoyed reading Christopher Carlisle and Diana Morgan ‘s story. I received an Arc of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Another brilliant book from Anna Harrington, whose imagination and storylines always capture me from page one. I have never read a story by her that did not deliver all the ingredients for a perfect historical romance and this one stays right up there as one of my favorites!
Who doesn’t love a handsome spy, especially when his perfect setup to capture his villian is thwarted by a lad. Or is it?
Diana Morgan, daughter of General Thaddeus Morgan, is desperate to get back her brother who has been kidnapped. Responding to a missive to retrieve something of her father’s and bring it to a pub, she dresses as a lad and marches in with the papers requested. What could go wrong?
Christoper (Kit) Carlisle is waiting to catch the man who murdered his partner to appear. It is Garrett Morgan, Diana’s brother, who is suppose to be meeting up with some French spies and Kit will nab him!
When the kidnapper will not take the papers Diana has brought him and he tries to hurt her, Kit steps in. Of all people, that rogue Kit Carlisle!
Nobody is as they seem and Diana and Kit end up working together. Diana to prove her brother is innocent and Kit to nab him and get justice!
A tantalizing journey filled with intrigue, suspense, action and a romance sizzling along the way that will make it hard to believe when you look up and see it is 1:00 am! But you really don’t care because you are going to read until the end! I highly recommend this book and all in this series!
Saving the best for last. After the Spy Seduces is the sixth and last book in Anna Harrington’s Capturing the Carlisles series. This one features Christopher (Kit) Carlisle and Diana Morgan. Their story is a rollercoaster of action and emotion. It is a tale of intrigue filled with danger, suspense, betrayal, and lots of secrets. There is romance, a strong attraction between Kit and Diana, but their survival, and their chance for a future together, seem uncertain. Happy endings are not always easy, but they are worth the effort. This story ends with a bang, and a happy surprise. I enjoyed and recommend After the Spy Seduces and this series.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. My review is voluntary.
This story captured my attention from the very beginning and held it throughout the book. Love the whole Carlisle series! Glad for Kit to have his story told. Everything and everyone in this story are not as they seem. They all have secrets. Some of the characters do not realize the value or the danger of the secrets that they hold. Kit and his heroine Diana Morgan are very suspicious of each other at the beginning. Trust is hard to come by since they have differing opinions of Diana’s brother Garrett. They have quite an adventure in getting to the HEA, with traitors exposed and suspected traitors redeemed. Plenty of intrigue. Well developed characters and story line. I received an ARC of this book. However, my review is strictly my own opinion!
Good ending to the Carlisle series. This was Kit’s story, and was filled with romance, secrets, treason, and several good plot twists. I enjoyed it. I received an ARC of this book.
After the Spy Seduces by Anna Harrington is book 6 in the Capturing the Carlisles Series. This is the story of Diana Morgan and Christopher ‘Kit’ Carlisle. I have read (and Loved!) the previous books but felt you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Diana is out to help her family anyway she can which is why she is undercover as a boy trying to locate her brother and anything that can save him from being branded a Traitor. Kit really has no need to be anything more than what people think of him…a gambling, drinking and widower chaser. But what he covers is that he is one of the best spies for the Home Office. When he partner is killed he goes to find the person responsible for it which leads him on to search for Diana’s brother. Neither at first trust the other but they need to work together to solve what is going on.
This was another great read by Ms. Harrington.
As a fan of the Regency romance genre, I am always looking for books that are different. Anna Harrington has definitely delivered a very different Regency with this book! “Dishonor among spies” is a very appropriate tagline for this latest adventure in the Carlisle series.
Christopher “Kit” Carlisle appears to be a scapegrace, only interested in gambling hells, wild parties and seducing women. However, there is more to him that meets the public eye. He is on a quest to find the man who murdered his partner, Fitch, and will stop at nothing to bring this villain to justice.
However, when the suspected murderer’s sister, Diana Morgan, shows up at a tavern to rescue her brother, Kit is drawn into a tangled web of spies and intrigue. Diana has to try to prove that her brother is not a murderer and Kit has to try to fight his growing desires for the lovely lady.
This book has plenty of steamy scenes between the star-crossed lovers, but it also has plenty of what you would expect from a spy novel. Who can be trusted? Who is spying for Britain and who is spying for France? Kit and Diana have to try to figure all of this out while also trying to come to terms with their feelings for each other.
Ms. Harrington is one of my favorite Regency authors and this book does not disappoint. If you are looking for something more than the fancy balls and the ton found in most Regency novels, give this one a try. The book can be read as a standalone, but for the full enjoyment, you should read all of the books in the series.
In Anna Harrington’s After the Spy Seduces, the last book in her much loved Capturing the Carlisle series, she bids farewell to this cast of characters with all the grace and fine writing her readers have come to expect from her!
Christopher Carlisle the Earl of Spalding was an irresistible hero. Labeled a rogue by society the reality was he was anything but that offering a compelling portrayal for readers. Christopher’s position as a second son offered him very little options that fit who he was. His finding a way to overcome his limitations was creative and true to his characters resistance to convention.
Seen as aloof and standoffish Diana Morgan was considered a diamond of the first water by the ton, yet her best features of loyalty and protectiveness to the ones she loved were hidden to everyone but her inner circle. Diana was woman held to the constraints of her times and suffered immensely. Unlike many heroines in a similar situation she was wise in accepting her role in society even as she found ways to work around her situations in a socially acceptable manner.
In a nice change of pace this couple’s pain and suffering due to their social circumstances was shown in such a way that they were not seen as victims or survivors but rather as capable and adaptive. An uncommonly steamy connection between Christopher and Diana paired with distinctive dialog kept this couple interesting throughout this work. Their instinctive insight into each other’s true selves was touching to see play out.
This story had all the components of a great historical romance. Well researched this work still maintained both adventurous and romantic appeal with its steady flow of action, intrigue and intimate moments. Ms. Harrington knows how to create characters with a variety of traits that make them stand out and command readers attention. This writer is an expert at including subject matter that is currently socially relevant in her character’s depictions yet remaining actual to the historical period she is depicting.
Anna Harrington once again guides another couple to happiness with gentle nudges and loving words in After the Spy Seduces.
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own. *
*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
Diana is back and not just a pretty woman who hangs onto a man’s every word. She is powerful and strong. Whew, who knew she had so much going on in her life and was so complex. I like that in heroines. Let’s not forget about Christopher (Kit). He is so …. Yeah, I can’t describe his virality well enough to suit his character. I love the spy angle (okay, I will read all historical romances with a spy) and it was a little tense at times. Diana and Christopher’s interaction were explosive and at the same time very intimate and emotional. This is a fantastic story by a fabulous author!
And we get a little glimpse at Nathaniel Grey again – oh yes, he is still swoon-worthy. I know this is the end of the series, but I am hoping for a story featuring Whitby and Garrett. Maybe novellas. There are certain characters that stay with you in a series and you just need to know that they have a HEA.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
