I was settin’ up to live a good life, the kinda life I’d fought hard to deserve.
With a good woman––the best woman––at my side, a degree under my belt, and the whole world at my feet, I was livin’ the kinda happily ever after usually denied the rebellious and the criminal. I’d turned my back on that kinda life, thinkin’ I needed that clean, wholesome kinda happy.
Then the devil came dressed in … the wings of an angel and took someone from me.
And I realized I was wrong.
There was no clean and wholesome for a man like me with poetry in his heart and outlaw in his blood. The life I’d been livin’ was only purgatory, holding me over until the time came for me to descend into Hell and pick up the tarnished crown that awaited me.
I was condemning my woman to a life of violence, blood, and heartache, but I had to hope she’d step up and finally be the rough and tumble queen to my Fallen MC king.
After the Fall can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you first meet the couple in Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men, #1)
more
To say that I loved this book would be an understatement After the Fall (The Fallen Men Book 4) by the lovely Giana Darling really surpassed my expectations.
This book had it all:
A poetic and tragic love story
Tears and all of the angst
Compelling and Captivating writing skills
I would never spoil this book for anyone, it deserves to go into it as blindly as possible. It’s definitely a wild ride, with many many ups and downs, but oh my are they worth it.
I’ve been an avid reader of Giana since late 2017 and the way she writes it’s so different, so poetic and sensual, she has a way to pull me in and it’s very hard for me to move on from her stories. She’s increasingly improving they way she writes and it’s so wonderful to be a part of that journey with her. I can’t wait for the rest of the books to be released.
As far as King and Cress go, they are the OG MC Fallen couple and for that, they definitely hold a special place in my heart. This second installment of theirs was the tears and knots that swelled in my eyes and at the pit of my stomach. If you have read her books before, you need this one in your life, trust me!
As a lover of all things MC Romance, I was shocked to discover that I had never read anything by Giana Darling. Seriously, how is that even possible? I ended up binge reading Books 1-3 of her Fallen Men Series – “Lessons in Corruption”, “Welcome to the Dark Side” and “Good Gone Bad” in one long weekend. The best three days of my reading life ever.
Book 4 “After the Fall” is the continuation of King and Clessida’s love story. And what an incredible roller coaster of an emotional ride it is. I prepared myself both psychologically for what I knew would be a gut wrenching read and it was that and so much more.
Giana Darling writes books that will draw you in and keep you chained to your Kindle as you need to find out what is happening. King and Cressida are such an incredible couple, their love, passion and devotion to one another is incredible. You will love them both individually and as a couple. They are phenomenal and nothing and no one will keep them apart. A stunning story that needed to be told. If you’ve read Lessons in Corruption then you absolutely must read this book and if you haven’t I highly recommend you do, you will thank me later. TBR and Enjoy. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
After the Fall is the fourth book in The Fallen Men series and even though it can be read as a standalone, I do think it is better to read the books in order to fully understand everything that goes on in this installment.
Giana Darling’s writing style is always so expressive, it always evokes so many feelings. Danger, angst, suspense, and amazing characters, this book had it all and kept me glued to the pages.
King and Cressida are just perfect for each other. I love how they developed throughout the series. They’ve overcome so many adversities and they’ve grown stronger together. King got me all swoony with his romantic behavior, his biggest desire is to make Cressida happy and he would sacrifice anything to do accomplish that. And she has become this fierce and self-assured woman, a queen fit for King. Also, the family dynamic within the MC was heartwarming. Even with all the drama that happened within the club, loyalty and brotherhood prevailed.
Told in dual POV, this story is a rollercoaster of emotions. It gave me major Sons of Anarchy vibes. If you love age-gap and taboo romances then you must read this series. I recommend it!
*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I’m dead!!!!
Here lies Giana Darling, or what is left of her rotting carcass after her readers find her. I would like to offer my condolences to her family, but I’m pretty sure I will be raising a pitch fork with the lynch mob, so sorry not sorry.
Giana’s life was cut short in only the way a true reader can appreciate. She died for her craft. I’m sure it would warm her heart to know that crazy fans love her characters enough to steal her, tie her up, shout terrible things about her, beat her, and possibly kill her. What you don’t realize is that Giana asked for it. Yup, that’s my defense. Your Honor, she did despicable and heinous things to our hearts, minds, and emotions. It wasn’t our fault. Think of us a survivors of emotional abuse and realize it was the only way.
While we do life in prison without parole, I want you to know. It really isn’t my fault. Giana MADE me fall for a smiling angel with darkened wings. His halo of golden curls enough to distract me from the grease staining his wings. That Fallen angel became a light in my world and she tried to take him from me.
All crazy, obsessed fangirling aside…Giana Darling killed pieces of me I’m not sure I’ll be able to resuscitate. King is an incredible dichotomy that lures in its prey, seduces you, and then makes you the most pliant of worshippers. The way this book went had me stalling. I put it down, walked away, and tried to busy myself so I wouldn’t have to read exactly where it led me.
I sobbed. I raged. I lost my ever loving sh!t. But my anger is only being abaiting by hope. I may want to string Giana Darling up but the most torture I would offer is tarring and feathering …or maybe tickle torture (I mean that in non-creepy totally torturous way).
After the Fall is a heartbreaking, mind twisting in despair, love intensified book. It’s not for the faint of heart. Now, I’m going to cry some more and then go read King’s poems.
Btw, the ones in this book were intense and destructive to my already fragile heart. I can only imagine the masochistic glee I will experience reading them.
Overall Rating – +
OMG! I know we were warned but wow, this book broke me. Giana, what did you do to me! Let’s just say the school run was fun with my big puffy eyes .
The Fallen Men series has to be one of my favourite series ever and the latest release, After The Fall, sees us back with King and Cress.
I loved being back with them, getting more from their story and what a journey this book was. What I loved was the pure love that you could feel between King and Cress and that was all down to the writing of Giana who made me fall so hard all over again, their love is so pure and is who they are. I don’t think I’ve read another couple quite so intense and believable with their love in such a long time, if ever.
“There’s no end to my love for you. It’s woven into the very fabric of my soul so even when our bodies die, we’ll still never stop lovin’.” **swoon**
I loved the maturity of King ready to take his seat at the table and accept his place beside his dad, Zeus. It was a great full-circle moment and I just love these ‘Fallen Men’. Like everything King does, he leads from the heart and is so driven, weather it’s loving his woman, his family, his club or his extended family, he’s got such purpose and presence that comes alive on the pages.
And let’s talk about those sex scenes! It’s an anytime, anywhere with this couple and the dirty mouth on King will have you fanning yourself!
I won’t go too much into the story, but boy did it break my heart. I actually sobbed big ugly tears and again I can only put that down to the incredible writing making you feel such a connection to these characters.
Cress, she definitely comes into her own from the first book and I loved her new sense of who she was with her confidence and when things were unravelling I ached when she did and could feel her brutal pain and loss.
Zeus!!! This man, I love him and was so glad we got a few POV’s from him. He’s forever the leader and so very wise regardless of his hard intimidating exterior. The moments he shared with Cress were so touching and the honour of ‘God of Thunder’ on her wedding gown was heart-rending in the circumstances.
This book is going down as one of my top reads of 2020 and is a must-read! There is so much love in this book it just pours out the page, even when things are bad and going down, the love is always there. Take note of the books warning as Giana will make your heart bleed with this story but will also fill it with love.
I loved every single word and can’t wait for the next Fallen Man.
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

I give this book 3.75 stars.
I was excited that we were going to get to see what was going on in King’s and Cress’s lives. I always love to see where characters end up after a while. And there was never a dull moment when it came to King and Cress. And it seemed things hadn’t changed things were still as intense as ever between the two and their love was still going strong. It was their life around them that was chaos. This book was filled so much angst and had my emotions all over the place.
The couple issue I had were there were quite a few grammar errors in this book. Last Names changed throughout the book.
This was the first of Giana’s books I had read and I wasn’t disappointed. It was beautiful getting to know Cres and King. The love they have for each other oozes off the pages while your reading it and makes you want more. it’s nice that it had a prologue, the story of how they met if you haven’t read the other three books in the series. I couldn’t put this book down not once and the sexual chemistry had me fanning myself quiet a bit. I was smiling, laughing and crying but then smiling the end. I received this book as an arc to give an honest opinion and I would highly recommend it if your looking for an mc romance that makes your heart melt.
3 and 1/2 stars
So I guess you don’t really need to read Lessons in Corruption before starting this one. But I think a few people will want to really get into the series and why wouldn’t you? After reading Good Gone Bad, I thought the story might pick up there and continue but that wasn’t the case. There is a bit of a back track before we return to that point in this story.
There is a strengthening of the love between King and Cress. King is incredibly romantic and devoted to Cress and he expresses this through poetry. But as they say, the course of love never did run smoothly and King and Cress are prime examples of this. Without revealing too much, there will be some gut punches and tears in this story so get ready for that.
Giana Darling does have a beautiful way of writing. But I just wasn’t able to get into it as much as I did with Good Gone Bad. That’s not to say the story was bad, it’s just a personal thing. So I do recommend you grab a copy to try it out for yourself because there are great characters, lots of chemistry and above all, love.
Nope, nope, nope! I didn’t heed her warning at the beginning. I cried my way through 20%!
I absolutely love that all the books overlap and when you read the next you kind of know what is going on in the background, but told from another vantage point along with the new journey. I only just read Lessons In Corruption because Zeus on the cover stole my heart along with Lou’s and I moved on the H.R.’s story. With the second chapter of Cress and King’s life I got to start at the beginning of Cress and Lou’s relationship too. I will always recommend this series because it has SO much heart and beauty, more than just the chrome, steel and smoke of the MC.
Wow, wow, wow!
King Kyle Garro, young, beautiful and poetic old soul that he is, has been my favorite of the Fallen Men since his book, Lessons in Corruption, the 1st of the series, grabbed me and hasn’t let go. His words and mind are just part of his special charm, so having another book, 5 years down the road of he and the woman he waited so long to find- Cressida, and their beautiful, loving life together was a huge gift that I’ve been waiting for with so much anticipation it was killing me.
There’s nothing better than to sink back into a series like this one that is just so memorable and absolutely bingeworthy…sleep??? Who cares when King is calling to you!!! This ongoing MC saga highlights the struggles to stay true to what the family of brothers in the Fallen world stand for and every character will carve some piece of themselves into your heart and they’ll stay there, no matter how many other books you read after them. The love they have for their their ladies and family is legendary so when someone with evil intent in their minds tries to take any one of them down, beware villains, retribution will be coming your way…there’s no escaping the Fallen’s fury.
If you have been waiting patiently for more of Giana Darling’s, exciting, rolling down the highway, wild MC rollercoaster ride romance, the time is here to grab your copy and get lost for a while with the the Garro family and their brothers in arms…they’re all here waiting for you. After the Fall is a deliciously steamy, romantic, dramatic and suspenseful continuation of Giana Darling’s exciting series that evoked smiles, chills, thrills and a seriously swoony King with all that love he has to give. Beyond the love and laughter there are also tears, heartbreaking angst and all those added feelings you can’t escape and have come to expect and adore from this very talented author. Read them all so you don’t miss a single thing while falling for those sexy, badass Fallen Men. There aren’t enough stars!
4.5-5 STARS
Well, she did it this time, didn’t she?
Throughout my entire book’s reading experience, I was waiting for the other proverbial shoe to drop. I knew in my heart that THIS book was going to be a pivotal one in The Fallen Men series, and holy freaking wow, was THAT an understatement. I wish the book warning wasn’t there really; I was anxious already from the Prologue on!
King & Cressida were back, but NOTHING could’ve prepared me for what ultimately transpired in this book. I got hints of it while reading, and sometimes this book felt like piecing together a huge puzzle where ultimately, just when you thought you were done, the very last puzzle piece you needed got lost.
This book was truly a journey. But in the end, Giana did these two lovers justice. It was beautifully told & written, albeit at times a tad over the top with the language & a touch of cheesy, “who speaks like that, really?” love between the protagonists (hence the 0.5 I took off).
Ultimately, AFTER THE FALL was the book I didn’t know I needed. It was pretty darn epic; just like King & Cressida’s love.
I’ve been following Giana for a few years now and it seems her writing gets better with every release. This being no exception. There were tears, heart break, love and anger. This book had me going every which way it was hard to process one emotion at a time. There were times I was afraid to keep reading. There’s not much to say that has not already been said. This book was gold! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
Read: 3/18/2020
After the Fall was the fourth book in the Fallen Men MC series by Giana Darling. It was a follow up for King and Cressida (book one, Lessons in Corruption) as well as the overall MC conflict.
It had been over a year since I had read the last book in the series so I was a little lost at first but I stuck with it and it eventually came full circle. The first half of the book’s timeline aligned with book three, Good Gone Bad and served as a high level recap for those events. At 50%, the book then picked up at the cliff hanger (from Good Gone Bad) and then dove into the meat of the plot.
At first I was craving a faster pace and didn’t feel the substance but there was no doubt the deep love King and Cressida shared; which ultimately served as the backdrop for the tale. In the end, it was a roller coaster while the author took us through a maze of emotions. It was heartfelt and riveting and it cemented my love for King. For such a young hero, he had depth and wisdom. And he lived by the motto “Family, brotherhood, loyalty, freedom. And love.”
The only negative was the editing errors. They were in abundance so hopefully future editions will have the corrections. Otherwise, the story and the characters were solid. Stay the course to the end and you won’t regret it.
True to Darling’s style, the stage was set for the next book, Inked in Lies. At this time, I’m not sure the main characters; however, the MC conflict will bleed over into it and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next. Hopefully we won’t have long to wait….hint hint!
Giana has a way to suck you in, take your soul to another hearbreaking level and then put it all back together again.
This one was no different. I have loved each of the books in this series but I think this one just about broke me. Reading this in public may cause others to question if you are ok because of the tears I shed and the OMG moments.
I loved this continuation of King and Cressida as I have missed them for a while. I would HIGHLY suggest you read the other books but I suppose this could be read as a standalone but with other characters in the book you may be a bit lost. Having all of the backstory in a series makes it even better.
I have a hard time picking a favorite book from an author, but I think this one is at the top so far for Giana Darling. Forever one of my must one click right now authors.
Oh Giana, you evil, evil woman!!
From the very first page this wicked, talented master of prose, reaches into your chest to grab your heart and squeeze to the point of shattering it, only to loosen her grip enough to allow it to fill to the brim with the legendary love shared between King and his Cressida, whilst she maintains a grip that you can be certain threatens do it all again, and she delivers just that!
This story is befitting that of legends.
The love forged between these two and their dedication to not only each other but to their rebel Fallen family, makes you yearn to be in their world, to have that kind of enviable connection and purpose.
King Kyle Garro is the ultimate quintessential alpha hero; I have not read another man so devoted, driven and committed in his love for his Queen and his Fallen family, end of story!
And that this man is a poet and warrior to boot…kill me now!!!
***Warning*** This story will tear your heart to shreds.
I’m known to not be that soft hearted, and yet on finishing this story, I legitimately could not sleep until the wee hours of the morning, such was the distress this author had placed upon my troubled heart.
Shame on you Giana!! I’m not a young woman, that could have have been dangerous to my health!
So should you invest in this story? Absobloodylutely!!
This is by far the most gripping romantic and steamy read of this year for me, and good luck to those who come after, you’ve got some gargantuan shoes to attempt to fill!!
A night full of stars for this one!!
Speechless once again!!! No one has a way with words quite like Giana Darling and this was one very wild ride with one of my favourite families the Garro’s and the fallen men that we have all come to love. It is hard to write a review that first doesn’t contain spoilers and 2nd would truly do this book justice. All I can do is promise if you take a chance on this book and this series ( I would STRONGLY) suggest reading in order) you will not be disappointed. Your eyes might be puffy, your throat choked up and you might want to strangle the author, but it is oh so worth it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book provided by the author for an honest review.
What an incredible group of books and this one did not disappoint. The characters were so well written and I truly could not put this book down and walk away. This was a mind twisting read that had so much raw intensity and emotion that left me breathless in parts.
Oh Miss Darling you have completely obliterated me with this book. I knew I was in for a ride but I have no words, none. I was so happy to have the Fallen Men, King, Cress, Daddy Z, Lou and the crew back. Gosh I missed them. This book gave me every single feel, took every last one twisted them up and doubled down on them. Giana wrote this one with her entire being because that’s the only way I can explain the emotions I went through. There’s something special about this crew and I just can’t wait for the other books coming our way.
4.5 stars for – After The Fall – book four in the Fallen Men series by Giana Darling. This book can technically be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading at least books one – Lessons In Corruption – and two – Welcome To The Darkside – prior to this as you will have a much better understanding of the dynamics of The Fallen MC as well as much fewer spoilers if you start at the beginning.
King and Cressida overcame so much to be together and have been happy for the last few years. Now that King has his business degree and is almost done prospecting with The Fallen he’s ready to take his place alongside his father. He’s also ready to marry the love of his life and start a family when the time is right. There are others that feel King hasn’t earned his spot and are doing whatever they can to sabotage his happiness.
This was another sexy adventure into the Fallen MC that will take you on a emotional roller coaster you aren’t prepared for. Many of the brothers you know and love will make an appearance so be sure to read this one today!
3.5 Stars!
We’re back into the lives of The Fallen and man do they have shit to say.
I am a huge MC romance trash and was excited to see what awaited this universe. This book is about King and Cress who were the protagonists in Lessons in Corruption and it was so good to catch up with them. Obviously, by good I mean my heart was in immense pain and I almost believed what Giana put me through but yes so so good.
So many things happened in this book and I was genuinely glued to it afraid to miss anything. Giana brought her magic back and I just love the way she writes these bikers. They are real, raw and tough. But at the same time, the are absolutely open with their emotions and that’s hot.
I will say that the story seemed way too long not much happens in the first half. I felt like it dragged a bit in the start but I really liked how everything played out in the end.
