I was settin’ up to live a good life, the kinda life I’d fought hard to deserve.
With a good woman––the best woman––at my side, a degree under my belt, and the whole world at my feet, I was livin’ the kinda happily ever after usually denied the rebellious and the criminal. I’d turned my back on that kinda life, thinkin’ I needed that clean, wholesome kinda happy.
Then the devil came dressed in … the wings of an angel and took someone from me.
And I realized I was wrong.
There was no clean and wholesome for a man like me with poetry in his heart and outlaw in his blood. The life I’d been livin’ was only purgatory, holding me over until the time came for me to descend into Hell and pick up the tarnished crown that awaited me.
I was condemning my woman to a life of violence, blood, and heartache, but I had to hope she’d step up and finally be the rough and tumble queen to my Fallen MC king.
After the Fall can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you first meet the couple in Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men, #1)

This book was beautiful such a heart-wrencher actually moving me to tears with its
poignant and sentimental narrative.
It’s the continuation of King and Cressida’s journey and the first half takes place timeline-wise at the same time as book three.
Though I enjoyed this it was the second half of this that made such an impact on me I’m not sure we really needed what came before this and it did feel like a bit like filler, wholly unnecessary, I was already satisfied with how we left these two when their story originally unfolded back in book one.
It was lovely to catch up but it just wasn’t needed as I was already convinced and invested in the depth of there emotional connection toward each other and didn’t need more now matter how well written.
As a result, I did find myself skimming somewhat just to get to the good stuff that moved along the story direction.
Now it’s the last third of this that made an impression and my god it gutted me I was a complete mess what a trip, this was and what made this book for me and without that addition, this would have been for me a lower rating.
King and Cressida are two characters that do deserve all the happiness in the world he’s a romantic old soul and she’s definitely his Queen which she proved to all who knew her right here.
This was again fabulously well written and I did adore the epilogue.

Talk about tearing your heart out and stomping on it! I was completely twisted up and sobbing like a baby towards that ending! Woke my hubs up on accident a few times because I couldn’t hold in the sobs! Ugh! Writing this and my eyes are swollen. King!!!!!!!! You MF! Killing me! Although he did what he did he’s the best guy ever! A biker with a heart of gold. A poet. You can’t help of love him so much! And he did it for his family. I loved this book beyond words!
This book utterly wrecked me, and I loved every minute of it!
I’m speechless. I can’t find the right words to describe what I’m feeling, because everything seems shallow and not representative enough.
This series, as a whole, is so intense, so deep. The characters have layers upon layers, they are beautifully flawed, complexly built, deeply enthralling and it’s impossible to choose a favorite one. BTW, this is a standalone, but I truly recommend reading the whole series.
In this book, we get to see the story again from Cress and King’s points of view (mostly), but everyone played a huge part in it.
I was on edge for most of the book, my feelings in complete disarray, fighting for comand while I felt almost everything at the same time. I was pissed off, I was in love, I was hopeful, I was wary, I was happy, I was afraid, I was suspicious, I was devastated, I was thrilled, I was confused.
And a warning: I’m a reader, a bookworm, but I’m not exaclty a crier reading books. I have unshed tears in my eyes sometimes, I get emotional, and that’s it.
But this book? Oh this book deserved tears. I went through the night reading, with no regards for my sleep, because I couldn’t stop reading, I couldn’t believe what I was reading, I couldn’t help myself but hope there was a trick somewhere.
And through it all, I cried. Unstopping tears. It wasn’t an ugly and sobbing cry, it was a silent, with no forecast of ending cry. Yeah, I had my theories, and yes I was write, but I couldn’t deny the feelings this book evoked in me.
Somehow, it cleansed me. It was heartbreaking, it was purifying, it was oh so beautiful. So I braced myself and kept reading thought the pain.
And It was so worthy.
Those people are so loyal, so tight, even with all their differencies, their crassness, they are reliable, they love in their own intense, undeniable way, they surround you and swallow you whole.
So to whomever wants to try this book, I’ll say:
First, try the previous books. They are incredible and you’ll enjoy this story even better.
Second, totally go for it. But go ready to brace the pain through the end, because it will be totally worthy of your time.
Iron Queen and Fallen King Reign Again!
From the first book I have loved this couple and to get more of their story I was so excited. I was told to have my tissues ready for this book and boy am I glad I did.
The words of love spoken and moments between King and Cressida were so beautiful (and smokin hot) and anyone would be lucky to have a love like theirs. To be surrounded by so much violence but still be soft and poetic was – well beautiful.
When things went wrong the way King stepped up using his brain to do things smarter was amazing to read. When things went to complete h e l l the way Cress stood up and got her piece of revenge was perfect. These two together are a complete match made in heaven. This book is a MUST read and a perfect addition to The Fallen Men series!
Every word was like a love letter. It was beautiful. I’m afraid to share too much, I was so happy to be back with this family again.
This has all the feels…
I read this via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily. Im going to keep this short, with little specifics. It is book 4 of the Fallen Men series and primarily it is about King and Cress, but of course the others are part of the story. You must read book 1 at least before this story. You will need tissues.
Triggers: assault, murder, violence, harassment, loss
**spoilers**
King and Cress, so different but perfect for each other. They have their home, a new business. Zeus and Harleigh Rose are happy with their partners. Of course, with all the good theres always going to be bad things too.
Violence, sexy time, loss, starting over. HEA
4.4 stars
I was so excited to get a second book for King and Cress. Even though it was implied that their love was going to be for the long haul in Zeus and HR’s books there still felt like they were somehow gipped of showing it. There was no mistaking their love but there was so much room to grow. The author gave me that in this book.
Having written several essays on Paradise Lost (and the fact that Eve was the true HERO of the story) while I was pursuing my degree in Literature, I TOTALLY appreciated how the author incorporated that in the story. There is no mistaking that this author has a gift when it comes to her stylistic choices, her cadence, and her ability to make her audience truly feel emotions via her words. It oftentimes leaves me gobsmacked. This is definitely a story that showcases that she is a master wordsmith.
My issue with the story came in the fact that I had expected that it would pick up where the last had ended or just have a brief catch up to get to that point so that the story could progress. It didn’t. It took a long time of rehashing that that took me out of the story and frustrated me because I wanted, no I needed, to get to the part of their story of them in the future showing how their love had burned as bright as I had hoped it would in their first book. That being said, I cannot recommend this book enough. Her poetry, the connection, the emotions… just all of it was truly out of this world.
This book blew my mind. This is the first book of Giana’s that I read and I was blown away by how she could make us feel everything the characters were feeling, not only that but the characters themselves were just amazing. I loved the fact that she touched on the fact that women should be comfortable with their sexuality and that we shouldn’t be afraid or embarrassed to be sexual because that’s what we are as humans. Their relationship right off the bat was Their are times in the book where Cress annoyed me because she didn’t know of she wanted to be with King or not but I mean everyone should be sure if they want to be with their partner or not. You guys need to read this book !!!! Trust !
Wonderful, hot, and lovely at the same time.
Do not read this if you don’t wanna cry, really, I cried the whole novel and I never cry with books, but Giana Darling is such a good writer and she made me empathize with all the characters, all the time, and because they feel like real people, it made everything more believable.
After de fall, narrated the story after Cressida and King fall for each other. See a new side of both of them, where they are together and accepted the love they have for each other was really nice. King is so mature and sweet and he really loves her, with all his heart, and he’ll make everything to keep her safe. Also, in this book, we can see how much Cressida has changed and how she has become a more secure woman.
This book will make your heart stop, will make you cry and laugh so hard, and is all on the magic of Giana Darling, she really made it with this one. To me, After the fall, is the best book in The Fallen Men series.
I have nothing bad to say about this book, I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end and I’m really sure if you give an opportunity to Cress and King you’ll do it too.
After the Fall is another look into King and Cress, who we first were introduced to in Lessons in Corruption.
The Fallen men are honor bound, the love fiercely and will do anything for their family and their women. King is one of those men that will fight to the end for his brothers, his family and his woman. He knows that he has to make a choice, one that has the potential to destroy those he holds the closest. This book will have you reading to find out the next twist in the story, desperate to know how it all plays out. The range of emotions is the fastest roller coaster you can imagine. I bawls my eyes out through part of this, laughed at other moments, and just about threw my kindle at others.
The world of the Fallen isn’t for the weak, it’s one that takes ahold and doesn’t let go. King and Cress’s story deserves more than a five star rating…it’s that good! Be prepared for the ride if your life once again within the Fallen.
O. My. Gosh.
This book. Ahh, Giana, your magic! What a great, winding, twisting love story, bringing us to our knees and helping us find salvation! I cried real tears, during happy and devastating chapters! So good, definitely worth the turmoil and heartache!
There’s so much that can be said about this book, besides the obvious twist of the ending, what about the turmoil the both King and Cressida go through? It was gut wrenching and heartbreaking to read that and experience that with these characters as if they were real people, and that’s the beauty of these books, is that this author has brought them to life in such a way that we feel what they feel, we go through the struggles and triumphs of life with them, celebrating theirs joys, crying through their pain, as if they are right there with us.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I couldn’t put this book down, Giana definitely had me under her spell yet again, and I was completely captivated with more Cressida and King, absolutely loving the men of Fallen MC and currently dying for more!!
Omgosh King and Cress!!! I absolutely LOVED this book!!! Their storyline started me on the Fallen Men series and I was obviously obsessed after that!!!! I’ve devoured every Giana Darling book I can after that!!!! Giana can hook you in so perfectly in the first couple of pages and have you reading a book in one sitting, she’s THAT MAGICAL to me!!!! Beautifully written, by an amazingly talented author!!!!
King and Cress are back and stronger than ever.
In the note to her readers Giana says to trust her. At that moment I know this would be one crazy emotional roller coaster. And I wasn’t wrong. I said this before by my review of Lessons in Corruption I normally don’t read about age gaps were the female is older. But Giana does such a good with it.
After the Fall is our second book with King and Cress. We don’t pick up were the previous book ended is the fallen man series (good gone bad) it was kind of parallel with Good gone Bad. I thought I was going to dislikes this but I actually really enjoyed it. I loved reading about Cress and Kings point of view with what was going on with Harleigh Rose.
At this point King and Cress have been together for a long time, so there is (thank god) no unnecessary drama to move the story along. This was something that made me hesitate to pick the book up at first. Most of the times when you follow a couple for more then one book there is a lot of unnecessary drama. But what can I say Giana’s writing made me love it.
Cress and King are so carrying for each other that with every page I read I just fall more and more in love with them.
The King is back and what an emotional, angst filled roller coaster ride you will all experience. Kinda and Cressida’s story wasn’t finished and what they experience in this tale will leave you holding onto your hearts forever.
Sometimes you ask is love enough, but when you sacrifice everything for the people you love… your family you know you won’t lose. The MC is getting threats from everywhere and Cressida feels like she will lose her man and herself in this battle. But when you fight for honour and family the best thing I recommend for you all is to sit back and enjoy all the feels. Because Giana knows how to evoke a lot of them. Just have some tissues by your side just in case.
Every time I read one of Giana Darling’s books I am left in awe of her talent. She has a way with words that is unlike any I have read. Her descriptions and details of every character, situation, and emotion are like poetry woven within the threads of every sentence. Somehow she manages to take the rough and tumble men of a biker club and turn them into swoon-worthy heroes while maintaining their Alpha badass status. Their protective nature and sense of loyalty remind me of warriors of old, rarely found in books these days.
After the Fall has been out since March and I’m just now reading it in July and I. Am. Kicking. Myself. For waiting. This book was everything I have been searching for this year but had yet to find until I fell head over heels into this story! The beauty, poetry, and romance kept my heart melting and wishing for a love so pure. King’s naughty nature and filthy mouth were both comical at times and sexy as hell. The angst and heartwrenching moments that drove me to tears were powerful, moving, and undeniably beautiful in their own right. Chapter 19 will forever stick with me as one of the most beautiful scenes in a romance that I have ever read. The love between King and Cress is both timeless and poignant. I did have a few questions at the end of this book but I’m guessing they will be answered in the next installment of The Fallen series.
Seriously, if you haven’t taken a chance on these bad boys, stop waiting and dive in!
Giana wrote another beautiful love story. This book broke my heart, made me cry, smile and laugh. Can’t wait for more books in this series.
This book was a truly an epic journey. It had all of the emotions, intensity, suspense and tension that you could want in a book! After The Fall brings readers back to King and Cress, who’s story began in Lessons In Corruption. They are 4 years deep into their relationship now, and King was just as awesome and amazing as he was in Lessons in Corruption, while Cress has become the perfect companion to King. King and Cress’s story is epic but it’s also real, raw, and entirely consuming.
They were both great in this book, strong, developed characters that just call to your soul. Their love is unshakable, and they are now ready to take their relationship to the next level. Of course, things could never go nice and smooth, and issues start to rise in the club and the city. I don’t want to go too much into the details because I don’t want to ruin the story at all for anyone, but trust me when I say that you want to read this book! Giana delivers, again, and gives us her all! I swear this woman has poured her heart and soul into this one, and I highly recommend this story!!
Holy roller coaster ride through Hell! I was not expecting the twists and turns that this story would take. I’m not sure why I’m still surprised by Giana’s ability to weave an amazing story and completely throw me for a loop, but I am.
Why can’t King and Cress just have a simple HEA? Of course the son of a MC gang is going to have big trials and tribulations, especially when he’s trying to help guide his family through their leader, and his dad, being in prison. The men of the Fallen find their allegiances divided and King puts his hat in the ring to help guide their MC family through his dad’s absence. It proves to be a huge challenge, for both King and Cress. Will they both make it through it all?
Giana did deliver a very hard-fought for HEA. I can’t wait to keep reading more about The Fallen!
There were so many times I felt my heart was being detached thread by thread, each snip taking me further away from living. Yes, it was that brutal! (I’m always dramatic, but for real)
This story was breathtaking in such an emotional way that I was scared I wouldn’t recover.
King and Cress, I’d watched them from beta eyes in Lessons in Corruption and to see how much changed, I can honestly say, I was taken by shock, and in the best way!
Giana has a way of weaving words, it’s prose-y, poetic, and tantalizing in the best way.
Don’t skip out on this because you’re scared of more King! It’s worth every heart wrenching moment.
King and Cressida in After the Fall are bursting with passion and emotion. I wasn’t sure where or how Giana was going to take their story further than we last read, but she ended up digging deep into these characters, creating a thoroughly enriched personality for each of them. And holy ISH! The last 30% of the book was INCREDIBLE! It highlights Giana’s beautifully engrossing writing perfectly. Yep. Can’t wait for more in this world! 4 poetic stars for After the Fall.
