What’s a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That’s right. Text. Message. How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I’m no Dear Abby but here’s a little free advice… anything out into the hallway because you’ll injure your hot new neighbor.
Advice #3 – When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It’s awkward when you realize he’s your boss.
Advice #4 – Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister’s wedding as collateral.
Advice #5 – Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don’t trust his word even if he’s the world’s best kisser.
If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It’s the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.

LOVESICK IN LAKE STARLIGHT

4.5 Stars – Another must read from this author-duo.
I love the Baileys more and more with each book. They have each other’s backs but still tease each other like any siblings would do. Their dynamic is just amazing and I wish I was part of the Bailey clan. Maybe I’ll snatch myself one of the Bailey men while they’re still single. =P
I know I can count on Piper Rayne to deliver a great story and to pull me out of a book funk anytime. Their characters have so much life in them and never fail to amaze me with their strong and kind personalities.
The worst thing to ever happen to a Bride happened to Brooklyn. She got ditched at the altar by her fiancé via text message. (Well, it did get worse for her but I don’t get into that because you have to read it yourself.)
Anyway, throwing books to let off steam doesn’t sound too bad right?! But hitting your new neighbor in the head with one wasn’t a good start of an introduction.
Needless to say, Wyatt and Brooklyn met on a very bad day for her and luck was still not on her side when they found out he was her new boss as well.
But no matter the circumstances they were attracted to each other, and living next to each other didn’t make it easier to ignore the chemistry between them.
This story went from one mess into the next and I felt so bad for Brooklyn. Luckily, Wyatt came into the picture and although he had his own kind of family drama to deal with, trying to prove his worth to his father and that he was capable of running the family hotel chain, he fit in with the Baileys as if he was one of them already.
I really enjoyed this wonderful story and couldn’t put it down. I was also glad that things weren’t rushed between Brooklyn and Wyatt but still loved how they had sort of an instant connection.
There was a lot going on and many obstacles for them to overcome. One of them was her broken heart of course after having been ditched, but also him being her boss and his temporary residence in Lake Starlight. The story had such an easy flow and was captivating from the first page. This is again a book you don’t want to miss out on!!
I absolutely loved the banter between the Bailey siblings and all the funny moments. I was a bit overwhelmed with all the names at first but now I can count them all off on my hands and am so excited to read more about them because with each book I fall deeper in love with this family. And I can hardly await the next release after the surprise of this epilogue!!
I get super giddy when it comes to The Baileys. I loved Austin’s story, but switching gears and getting Brooklyn’s, you will fall for this clan even more. The story starts off with heartbreak. But you won’t be able to linger on that too much. The way Wyatt makes an entrance, you will be laughing hard!
I got so much to say, but that will spoil the story for you. I really love Brooklyn and Wyatt. You get the butterflies of first love. You get the drama where you are angry crying. Then you get the “AWW” moments when the character pulls their head out of their… you know where. The chemistry is so steamy!! Grandma Dori is still a hoot. She is definitely the glue to the family.
Advice from a Jilted Bride will have you stuck in Lake Starlight. You will feel like you are right at home. You will look forward to Lake Starlight’s Gossip Blog. You will get that good feeling for reading about the closeness a small town only has from the residents. Piper Rayne will give you an amazing story that you have to have in your grasp! So the next question is who is next? Is it Denver or is it Rome?? I cannot wait to see who will be the next Bailey we get to read about.
This is the second book in The Bailey Series. I love this Series! Brooklyn and Wyatt’s story is sweet, fun, and beautiful. Brooklyn is a beautiful character, strong, and independent. Wyatt is handsome, supportive, and caring. They are perfect together. Brooklyn’s ex is such a jerk! The supporting characters are amazing. Tanya Eby and Tim Paige did a wonderful job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to Birth of a Baby Daddy, the next book in the Series. I HIGHLY recommend this Series!
Brooklyn came out of nowhere and I love her! After reading Lessons From A One-Night Stand, I was excited to keep reading this series but I will admit I was more excited for other sibling’s stories and a bit less excited for Brooks. But I ended up loving her story so much and I will never question Piper Rayne again! Advice From A Jilted Bride is a neighbors/workplace romance that gives off some new friends-to-lovers vibes and has a bit of a reformed playboy billionaire hero.
After being left at the altar, Brooklyn is determined to cleanse herself of anything and everything that reminds her of her ex…what she didn’t mean to do was knock her hot new neighbor upside the head in the process. I totally understood Brook because I would’ve been on a warpath too had my fiance left me at the altar. She rediscovers a lot of things about herself in this book and it was so cute seeing Wyatt support her along the way.
I love the Bailey boys, but these Bailey girls know how to find some great guys! Wyatt was so sweet! At first, I assumed he’d be a playboy, entitled rich guy, but he never once gave off those vibes in the present tense of the book. He was sweet and supportive and never pushed too much with Brook. It was really sweet to see and I was totally swooning over him!
These two worked so well together and even when they weren’t together you’d think they were! I really enjoyed the slow progression of their relationship because it made them coming together so sweet!
This series is already becoming one of my favorites. It’s not very high on the steam levels, but it’s sweet and easy to read. I find myself just getting so enveloped into this world and I don’t want to leave it. If you’re looking for a small-town series to fall in love with you should definitely give this series a shot! It has a little bit of everything and a lot of super sweet romance!
I literally LOL’d with this book several times. I fell in love with Brooklyn and Wyatt.
Once again, writing duo Piper Rayne wrote another wonderful book in The Bailey series and I devoured Brooklyn and Wyatt’s story all in one day. Brooklyn was a jilted bride and was not interested in getting into another relationship. Wyatt recognized that so they embarked on a friendship and the sexual tension build slowly. The meddling family especially Grandma Dorie provided for some fun moments and laughter. Loved the friendship, romance and family feels in this book and series.
I really wanted to like this book. I listened to the audiobook and wonder if I would have a different take on it if I had read the ebook.
I liked the Bailey’s for the most part. I felt like some of them went out of their way to make Brooklyn feel like she could handle any kind of problem in her life. I didn’t hear anywhere in the book that every time Brooklyn encounters a problem, she falls apart. I think she was entitled to all of her emotions based on what her fiance did both at the wedding and after.
Her sister bombarding her with the it’s too soon, he might just be a rebound thing was irritating. It never occurred to anyone that maybe Brooklyn was more upset about how it happened then she was that it DID happen. I just felt like some of her family didn’t give her enough credit for being an adult.
Brooklyn also struck me as being flighty, but I don’t know if that was from the story or the way in which the character was narrated.
I was kind of indifferent to Wyatt. He struck me as angry and not being strong enough to stand up to his father. It also bothered me that he didn’t put Vanessa or his father in her/his place more strongly than he did at the wedding.
The audiobook had 50+ chapters. Admittedly, some of them were short. I just felt like the book went on forever. Luckily, I was able to listen via Hoopla. I’m torn about continuing the series. Part of me wants to know about the other Bailey siblings, and another part of me is afraid of having to endure another book that goes on and on.
Also, what was the advice from a jilted bride?
I liked Wyatt s much!! Brooklyn is such a mess, after reading several books about the family I started to understand her more. The book is easy to read and nice, the family is great so this is one great series
I absolutely love The Baileys and it’s only book 2, they have been so heartbreakingly sweet! Even with a tragic past, this dynamic bunch of siblings has risen to the challenge and taken life into their own hands! Advice From A Jilted Bride was the second book in The Baileys Series. It was absolutely amazing, the heartbreak I felt at the start was slowly mended with lots of swoonworthy moments! (It can be read as a stand-alone but why would you do that?? The Baileys are worth it!!)
Brooklynn was left at the alter…her family might have seen it coming, but no one thought it would be by text message!! Her new neighbor, Wyatt, helped her pick up the pieces. He made sure she was alive, kept her fed, and helped keep a secret. They seemed to have a good thing going but would she be OK when she found out who he really was, over would her heart get broken all over again?
Gah! These two!! They were perfect for each other! And let’s talk about G-ma D…she knows all, do not underestimate her!! The entire feel of the town has me wanting to pack up and move. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of such a cute and friendly town, and who could resist reading the Buzz Wheel?? I can’t wait to see what’s next for everyone!!
Piper and Rayne are definitely a favourite of mine to read. This book has a lot of heart, wonderful characters, and ends in a justifiable HEA.
I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is book 2 in the series and while it can stand alone I would read the first book as this story takes place right after the end of book 1.
This is Brooklyn’s story and she is pretty darn awesome. I want to be her when I grow up. She has guts and is such an awesome character that I fell pretty hard for her. She is the Jilted Bride in this story and her ex is a bigger jerk than I possibly could have imagined.
Wyatt is her new neighbor and her new boss but he has a secret and its a big one. No spoilers here! They start out as friends and neighbors and he really is a pretty wonderful guy but they are boss and employee so they are sorta forbidden romance wise but when Wyatt takes her on as a fake girlfriend thats when things come to ahead.
I loved this story so much and its because the authors created some really awesome characters and I fell even more in love with the Alaska Bailey family and I promise you will too in this story.
Brooklyn Bailey has just faced the worst humiliation she could imagine. Being stood up on her wedding day. She’s left to pick the pieces and deciding what to do next. All while facing the looks of pity from the town, dealing with the worry from her family, and questioning who she was in the relationship she spent the last five years in.
Wyatt Whitmore has come to Lake Starlight, Alaska, with one goal in mind, keep his head down, do his job, and head right back to New York. Taking on the responsibility to over see the re haul of the towns hotel for his father, Wyatt is hoping this is the next step, in taking on more of the family business. But Wyatt is not prepared for all the he encounters in this small town.
A flying book, a beautiful woman in a wedding dress, a sexy stranger across the hall, a meddling grandma and one big chaotic and loving family. Bring a small town Jilted Bride and a New York City player together.
Brooklyn and Wyatt were such a fun time. Their story is so sweet and exciting and I loved every minute of their romance. This family is full of such great characters, and I love each and everyone of them. Advice From A Jilted Bride was such a captivating story. Full of hope and second chances, love, family and finding yourself. I can not get enough of the Bailey’s and I am so ready for even more from this loud, crazy, protective, witty, big hearted family.

Advice from a Jilted Bride is only the second book from Piper Rayne that I have had the pleasure to read. And I floved this book! The Baileys books are a family saga romance series and Advice from a Jilted Bride was an outstanding read. I laughed, cried and swooned so hard with this one, and I truly can’t recommend the author or book enough.
Advice from a Jilted Bride is a sexy, sweet, and heartwarming romance written in dual POV. I loved the light angst that Piper Rayne brought into this book with the woman who was left at the altar—although for those readers who aren’t a fan of angst, don’t let that stop you from reading this one. It’s truly light angst and just enough to enhance the plot as would be expected for such an emotional event. Piper Rayne’s writing really draws me in. While reading Advice from a Jilted Bride, I felt like the book was paced perfectly to draw me in and hold me captive. Also, I loved the slow burn of Wyatt and Brooklyn’s romance. I had a few predictions about their relationship and while some of them proved true, others didn’t, making Advice from a Jilted Bride less predictable of a read for me. (I sometimes feel like I have read every book out there, but then I come across a new author, or a book, and that predictability is diminished. Which, let’s face it, is grounds to celebrate!)
Advice from a Jilted Bride is a friends-to-lovers romance based in a small town in Alaska. The Bailey family will certainly capture your hearts as they have me and I truly want a book for each of them. This coming from the woman who’s not crazy about small-town romances, !! But Piper Rayne’s written two books now for the Baileys, and both of them have completely captured my heart. Their unwavering love and unconditional support of one another is so heartfelt and satisfying all in itself. Yet Piper Rayne upped the stakes by injecting humor and a new hot and billionaire that was never looking for a relationship. Still, a relationship is exactly what Wyatt found. The relationship that builds between Brooklyn and Wyatt was beautiful and I know readers are just going to love this one as much as I did! After being left at the altar by a text message, Brooklyn needs to guard her heart. Wyatt wants her in his bed, but he for the very first time, he finds himself caring about his new neighbor and becomes her friend first. Get ready to swoon when you read this one… your next five star read is here!
QUOTES:
You’re going to think I’m stupid, but I wanted to be someone else for a change— someone who takes chances and lives for the moment. My eyes were on the fairy tale since I met Jeff and I’m exhausted by it all. I wanted a change. Maybe I don’t need a man to be happy.
—
“You need to trust a woman not to hurt you, too, Wyatt.”
—
People think Wyatt Moore might be your prince.”
—
just because Jeff was an asshole doesn’t mean Wyatt is. Regardless of what anyone says, love doesn’t just come when the timing is right.
—
I know that I eventually have to come clean, but the selfish part of me says to just enjoy this a little longer. Besides, we’re just friends, not lovers.
—
“Have you considered the fact that maybe I was waiting for you to be over him?”
—
“Even so, it doesn’t mean he can’t be the guy who gets you over the first guy and acts as a bridge to the new guy . Not that I want to tell you what to do, but a guy like Wyatt isn’t Lake Starlight material. Why not have fun with a guy you won’t have to see for years after?”
—
woman behind me sighs. “One day you’re going to run toward a woman instead of away from her.”
—
I know now that I’ll never free myself from Wyatt Whitmore. Even if he leaves me, a piece of me will always be with him. And that piece is my heart.
This is the second book in the Baileys series. I really love this family. They all have such different personalities, but you can feel how close they are. I love their Grandma Dori. she’s such a hoot! I felt for Brooke her ex-fiancee is a cowardly guy. I liked what she did as soon as she got home because I would have done the same. I really enjoyed reading Wyatt and Brooke’s story. They have chemistry between them and their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. I also felt for Wyatt because of his relationship with his dad and how he makes Wyatt feel. This book has the humor that I love about Piper Rayne’s books. Plus the set up for the next book has me eagerly awaiting it!
ADVICE FROM A JILTED BRIDE
by Piper Rayne
3.5
Release Date March 21
This book can be read as a standalone even though it is interconnected with book 1 of the Bailey’s series.
Wyatt was the typical douche, rich, spoiled and privileged but with time away from the normal fast paced NYC lifestyle he became a different version of himself; with the influence of small town living and Brooklyn. She brought out the best in him. Brooklyn was super sweet and genuine. I enjoyed the family dynamic and how close knit the Bailey’s are.
This is the first book I’ve read in the series but won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the rest of the Bailey clan so I am looking forward to their stories. This series is a must read if you are looking for a small town, big family with some lol moments.
First impressions count, right? Poor Wyatt never stood a chance. Words do hurt more than stones, just ask Wyatt’s head. Last we saw Brooklyn Bailey, she was being left at the altar by her dirtbag fiancé. Douchey move for anyone to make but he did it in such a fashion that even I wanted to smack him. Lord help him if the Bailey brothers ever got hands on him, the authorities would never find the body!
From neighbours to lovers; a trope that I have struggled with for the longest time, this author knocked it out of the park and gave me one heck of an experience. Rayne is typically known for comedy and heat. This release does not disappoint in either of these two.
Tension and passion weave through the pages winding together Wyatt and Brooklyn, neither wanting to get into something serious. Frustration was a trusted companion through some of this one. Will they? Won’t they? Arrggh! Throw in meddling relatives and a father with a stick so firmly planted up high, you’ll catch my drift. Why oh why must people do what they do for other people and never themselves!
‘He doesn’t make it hard to enjoy the way he worships my body. His kisses are little morsels of admiration for my naked self. His groans are a self-confidence boost that assures me I’m what he wants.’
The Bailey clan have my heart, such a down to earth rabble family. I love them all. They all have such varying different characteristics and issues. Some authors fail at character building, these two do not.
‘“I’d love it if some chick came to tell me something while I was in the shower and she just pushed past the curtain and my back was turned as her hands slid around me and her wet body pressed to mine as her hands continued until they—OUCH!”
“Children,” Grandma says, looking around. “Not to mention, you can’t talk like that in front of me, it’s disrespectful.”’
And who can forget the ending to this little gem? Those poor twins, I cannot wait for the next installment of The Buzzwheel.
Wyatt and Brooklyn are something else. .- Lana~White Hot Reads
