What’s a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That’s right. Text. Message. How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I’m no Dear Abby but here’s a little free advice… anything out into the hallway because you’ll injure your hot new neighbor.
Advice #3 – When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It’s awkward when you realize he’s your boss.
Advice #4 – Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister’s wedding as collateral.
Advice #5 – Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don’t trust his word even if he’s the world’s best kisser.
If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It’s the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.
Xo,
LOVESICK IN LAKE STARLIGHT

Advice From A Jilted Bride was another fun and entertaining read by Piper Rayne. This book had me laughing at times but there was also an emotional side to the story and characters, which touched my heart as well.
This book is the second book in The Bailey’s series by Piper Rayne. It is a standalone novel with interconnected characters. I kind of feel like this series should be read in order, because there are things in this story that are about the couple from the first book. I feel it could be kind of spoilery if read out of order. This book is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow of the story worked well, but I will be honest and say that I thought the pace of the story was on the slow side. I know the author stated that this is a slow burn read, and it is, but I also felt that this story could’ve been shortened because there was a lot of extra stuff that I didn’t feel added to Wyatt and Brooklyn’s story. At times there was so much going on with the family, I felt like Wyatt and Brooklyn’s romance got lost in the shuffle. Maybe it’s just me???
But overall this is an enjoyable read and one I think many will love.
Advice from a Jilted Bride as I said is a strangers to friends to lovers story with a forbidden aspect to it. This is definitely a slow burn. I do like that after everything Brooklyn went through with her ex, she allowed Wyatt and Brooklyn to become friends first. It made there connection feel real. In this story we follow Wyatt and Brooklyn. Brooklyn has just been left at the alter by her ex and needs to figure out what to do with her life. She currently works as a housekeeper at the local hotel, but her true passion is her essential oils. Wyatt has just moved to town. He is the son of a hotel mogul . His dad has bought the hotel in town and sent Wyatt undercover to see what needs to be done to bring the hotel back into the black. Keeping his true identity a secret he ends up moving into the same apartment complex as Brooklyn. What happens when Brooklyn’s family inserts themselves into Wyatt’s life?? Will these two cross that friendship line to something more?? What happens when Brooklyn finds out who Wyatt really is?? Read this story to find out.
I loved seeing all the Bailey siblings again in this book. I love a good family saga series and look forward to reading more about each of them. I have a feeling the next book is going to be a doozy 😉
So if you are a fan of a family series and like a story that is fun, entertaining and without a lot of excess drama, then you should read Advice From A Jilted Bride!!!
This author duo can deliver romantic comedy! Consistently! I urge everyone reading this to start stockpiling their books LOL Why? I shall tell you … well, for one, they are the best medicine for all the things. If you’re in a book funk, bored, highly wired from life and/or your latest read(s) … their books are the solution. #TRUST This month so far, I have read three all consuming, what did I just read, #holdme books. Those kinds of books are rare. They’re the kind of books you just stare into space for a loooong time after you’re done. You wanna know how I was able to read those and many more? Advice from a Jilted Bride , that’s how! (It could have been any Piper Rayne book LOL). So as I said … the perfect medicine for all things life LOL
Okay so let’s chat about Brooklyn and Wyatt now. You’re gonna love these two. They were opposites but yet they fit together perfectly. Everything from their meet-cute to their slow-burn romance was packed with just as much humor as emotion. Their story was a perfect blend of both. Their growth throughout the story was relatable and believable and the story unfolded impeccably. Well done!
Read: 6/1/19
Advice from a Jilted Bride was the second book in the Baileys series by the authors Piper Rayne. The books are best read in order as they build on each other.
We learned in book one there are nine Bailey siblings: Austin, Savannah, Brooklyn, Rome (twin), Denver (twin), Juno, Kingston, Phoenix (twin) and Sedona (twin) and they were the heart and soul of the (very) small town Lake Starlight, Alaska.
Brooklyn Bailey was the third oldest sibling. She was engaged to be married to someone we learned the siblings didn’t particularly like but they loved Brooklyn and it was her choice….until he left her at the alter on their wedding day.
Wyatt Moore was the new hot neighbor that moved in across the hall. His first day in Lake Starlight happened to be Brooklyn’s “fateful day.”
There are so many things I loved about this book. I loved how Wyatt and Brooklyn met. I loved all of the Bailey clan (including BFF’s that were like siblings). I loved the humor and bantering that dominated the storyline. I loved the small town antics, including Buzz Wheel. And I even loved the storyline. It was well written and well developed with an abundance of humor. I had the giggles frequently.
The authors have a way of leaving me in anticipation of the next book, and this one was no exception. The ending surprise prepares us for Denver, or is Rome? With these two hilarious and rambunctious twins only time will tell. Bring on Birth of A Baby Daddy!
Brooklyn & Wyatt are strangers who end up neighbors. Wyatt is a great friend to Brooklyn as she deals with being at the altar by herself. It was a good book ,I only wish we for to see Wyatt & Brooke as a couple more instead of just friends for so long.
Brooklyn Bailey is literally left at the altar after receiving a text message from her groom that he won’t be showing up to their wedding. She’s trying to hold it together, with the help of her siblings. But now that she is back in the apartment she just signed a lease on to live in with her now ex, she may have lost it a bit. While throwing her ex’s stuff off of the balcony and out of the front door, she hit her new neighbor in the head with a book.
Wyatt Whitmore needs to stay below the radar in the small Alaskan town of Lake Starlight as he takes over the floundering hotel his father just purchased. If he wants his inheritance, he needs to show a profit without anyone realizing he is the new owner’s son. He’s only in town for six months or less. He’s definitely not supposed to form a friendship or have feelings for the jilted bride living next door who also happens to be on the housekeeping staff at his new hotel.
But as their friendship grows, it quickly becomes clear they both want more. But, when the truth is revealed about who Wyatt really is, everything changes. Once Brooke knows Wyatt won’t be staying in Lake Starlight, can she give them both what they want for the time being until he leaves, or will her heart become too involved? And, when Wyatt is offered his dream and inheritance, will it be what he wanted all long or will he find that love in a small Alaskan town is worth more than a chain of hotels?
Gosh I love the Bailey’s and the gossipy little town of Lake Starlight! Brooklyn is so strong to get through being left at the altar. And, Wyatt helping to keep her secret so she could hide out for a bit from her family while she wrapped her head around things was super sweet and the perfect start to their unconventional romance.
Brooklyn and Wyatt really are an opposites attract couple, but they work so well together and I enjoyed watching them become friends before becoming lovers. I also loved watching Wyatt teach Brooklyn about how to take her “potion” business to the next level while she taught him that there is more to running a business and dealing with staff than just the bottom line.
While this story centered on Brooklyn and Wyatt, the side characters including the entire Bailey family as well as Wyatt’s parents were amazing and add so much depth to the plot. Standouts for me were Brooklyn’s brother Rome and the matriarch of the family, Grandma Dory as well as Wyatt’s mom.
Advice From a Jilted Bride was a fun, flirty and sweet story all wrapped in one. I love that the population of Lake Starlight seems to be growing once couple at a time! 5 stars!
Review
Cute, fun and just plain adorable, this story is small town life at its finest. A great family, lots of siblings for lots of meddling fun, and a little bit of angst supplied by a jilted bride. This book was fun to read, a perfect summer read.
Brooklyn was jilted by her fiancé, the Jeff guy we thought was a douche in the previous book. Everyone could tell the relation was going nowhere, except Brooklyn and she was blasted with the information five minutes before the ceremony and by text message, no less. She was amply supported by her siblings but she yearned for some space so she could grieve. She decided to leave on her honeymoon trip, alone, and found the douche had cancelled her ticket and gave it to another woman. Truly devastated and brokenhearted now, she goes back to the apartment she was supposed to live in with Jeff and hibernates, mourning and giving in to depression.
Wyatt Whitmore, of the Whitmore hotels fortune, came to Lake Starlight to take over management of the Glacier Point, the rundown hotel in Lake Starlight. He has to work in all departments to see what works, what doesn’t, and report back to his father before they take formal takeover of the hotel and bring it back into the black. He has to keep his identity a secret, so the habitants in Lake Starlight only know him as a mere manager who is working his way through the hotel, checking things. He meets Brooklyn in the middle of her fit right after the failed wedding, and got a book tossed at his forehead for being in the wrong place, just about to enter his rental apartment in front of hers.
I loved the moment that Wyatt met the Baileys en masse. Two set of twins who finish each others words, lots of ribbing and caring, lots of emotions. A little case of jealousy comes up, since he didn’t have friends or family who joked together or cared so much about each other. Little by little, the crazy crowd of siblings take Wyatt in and take him over, until their crazy is normal and adorable to him. Brooklyn starts as a pity friend but turns into a serious interest as he learns that she is as beautiful inside as she is outside. She genuinely cares about others and is generous to a fault, a trait he cherishes because he hasn’t seen it before. There are secrets in Wyatt’s private life that made him a commitment-phobe, yet Brooklyn is changing his mind very fast and very scarily.
I loved all the shenanigans, all the friendship and family love, and Wyatt’s struggles. He used to be a crazy rich young man, but now he’s a responsible, mature individual and wants to be rid of the stigma of the rich playboy. He wants responsibility and authority but he’s under his father’s thumb. Brooklyn and Wyatt evolve as a couple but also as individuals.
And the best part of the book? The Lake Starlight Buzz Wheel blog, which informs all the habitants in town of all the happenings, right after they occur. It feels like one of the principal characters in the book, because it gives the book it’s colorful funny vibe.
I love the Bailey clan. I am so excited to continue on with this series. The first 2 book a are filled with so much love humor. I could get lost in the stories forever.
I am becoming a big fan of Piper Rayne’s….
When you start this book, it says that this is the longest book that they have written. But I tell you when you read it, the pages just fly by…lol
I love this family. The first book I did the audio version and that was freaking hilarious. I loved Austin and Holly. But Brooklyn and Wyatt will be giving them a run for their money.
My heart just broke for Brooklyn when she was left at the altar. And then how she and Wyatt met, well interesting to say the least, but hey what can you expect from these Baileys.
And who wouldn’t love Wyatt… He might seem a bit Privileged (which you can understand) but there is definitely more to him than meets the eye, sweet, funny, and seriously HOT!!!
All I want to say about this book is that its a slow burning romance, low on the angst, hilariously funny and freaking awesome chemistry!!! You will not be disappointed when you pick up this one. Man I can’t wait for the next Bailey to make an appearance…
I love the Baileys and never want to leave Lake Starlight. Loved the slow burn between Brooklyn and Wyatt. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
Loving this series!
Another sweet read from the The Baileys series! This family will keep you on your toes and have you always thinking who is who. Their family bond is what dreams are made up. They can drive each other crazy but at the end they are all close and will do anything for each other. This time we get the jilted bride, Brooklyn Bailey’s 4.5 stars story. When the worse a bride can go through comes to life; the Bailey siblings come together and figure everything out together.
No woman wants to be left at the alter and needless to say the steps of heartbreak will come out. Shock and broken with no answers will have her head spinning on the whys. The want to be left alone is strong but cannot help who your family is especially when we have a meddler and a matchmaker in the mix. Let me add that when she found out the truth (& where) about the groom that left her at the alter; it will have you jaw dropping and fuming mad.
Cue in the hot new neighbor, Wyatt Moore. His welcome to the apartment neighborhood started off with a hit to the head. Literally. Little did they both know that was the start of something new. With both having set on their ways when in comes to the future the best they can be is friends; however, has they continue hanging out and helping one another, the test for more is constant and a risk.
Wyatt, when it came to Brooklyn was open and fairly honest when it came to who he was and his plans at Lake Starlight. It was such an endearing quality in a man that will have you swooning and hoping for more. This story will take you on a journey where anything is possible after feeling like there is nothing left for you in the world.
Advice from a jilted Bride was a good story with interesting characters and plot that really held my attention to the very end . This would be the first book that I’ve read by the author and I’m excited to read what’s to come and of course more from the Baileys . This was a story that is good to read after a book hangover totally one that can’t be missed .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

This duo of authors has done it once again; they’ve managed to write an amazing book that made me laugh, smile, and even cry a little! I’m giving this 5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I’ve always enjoyed the writing from these two, but this series has been my favorite by far. There was just something about Lake Starlight, and the Baileys, that gave me all the feels. I felt like we didn’t see much of Brooklyn in the first book, but in this, I felt a kinship with her from basically page one. She was sweet, kind, had been screwed over, was family orientated, etc.
Wyatt was a great guy overall. As I was reading, I couldn’t help but be a little iffy about him given the circumstances. But by the end, he really showed me that I should’ve had no qualms rooting for him (I mean obviously since it’s a romance, but you get my point). He showed us in so many moments that he was a thoughtful and sexy man.
I loved getting to see more of the Bailey clan, especially Grandma Dori. I also liked how Brooklyn had a closer bond with some of her siblings that Austin hadn’t been that close with in the previous book; it gave me a chance to see more of their personalities before their upcoming novels. And the epilogue’s ending…I need the next book ASAP! I can’t wait to see what happens with that situation.
“In a city far away from home, with a man I wish could be my forever, I know I need to commit this to memory because it’s destined to be temporary.”
She was left at the altar by text message. He is a millionaire heir to a hotel chain that does not believe in relationships. A book thrown in the hallway and a rent contract that can not be rescinded will bring two people with opposing lives and hearts of gold closer together.
Do you think sixty chapters is too much? Think better, after all we’re talking about Piper Rayne. With light and fluid writing, the authors transform a journey that would normally be exhaustive in a quick and enjoyable experience. You will not want to leave Wyatt and Brooklyn for a second.
You might even think “It’s just another cliché” and I’ll tell you: yes it’s a cliché book, but the details make all the difference. The reaction of Wyatt and Myles when they meet, the conversations with Rome, the adoption of Gizmo, the mugs of Grandma Dori, Wyatt’s relationship with his mother … and the Bailey family, who do not need presentations.
You will watch the couple go from complete strangers, to neighbors, to friends and see their relationship evolve a bit more. Wyatt and Brooklyn indulge and live their feelings, even knowing the great chance of their hearts broken. And they also live the bad parts of a relationship, even in such a short time.
A happy ending as expected and an epilogue full of romance and some surprises. It looks like the Bailey family has grown and nobody knows. And the discovery that, with each book, there are things that are inevitable and almost impossible: not to laugh, not to sigh, and not to fall in love with this family.

Loved it
A well written slow burn romance. Loved Wyatt and Brooklyn’s story. This book grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down.
Advice From a Jilted Bride is book 2 in The Bailey’s series, and while it can be read as a stand-alone I highly recommend starting from book 1!
The Bailey’s are Lake Starlight royalty, and nothing happens in their lives without the whole town knowing immediately. So when Brooklyn is stood up at the altar she’s not only broken hearted & embarrassed, she’s also the talk of the town.
Needing an escape she decides to go on her honeymoon alone, until she arrives at the airport & is delivered yet another dose of embarrassment. Instead she hides out in her apartment, avoiding friends & family, until her new neighbor comes knocking to check on her.
Wyatt won’t take no for an answer when Brooklyn refuses his help, and weasels his way into her life. He can’t deny their amazing chemistry, but she’s just been dumped and he has secrets of his own. So he settles on friendship, and helping her get back on her feet. But attraction is hard to deny, secrets never stay hidden, and hearts aren’t safe when they both collide.
I loved Brooklyn & Wyatt! They’re chemistry is undeniable, and their banter is pure magic. This story is fun & sweet, the drama is minimal, and I couldn’t put it down! The addition of the Bailey siblings gives the perfect amount of comedic relief, and I can’t wait for each of their books!
A slow-hot burn unlike any other, these friends to lovers not only had a hot connection but a sweet one at that.
Unbeknownst to everyone in town, newcomer to all things Alaskan, Wyatt has something to prove when he arrives in Lake Starlight. Another world apart from his fast paced life in New York, he can’t help but be charmed and intrigued by his new neighbor, Brooklyn Bailey.
Fresh off a very public break-up, while being left at the alter via text, Brooklyn isn’t looking for love nor does she want to be coddled by her loving yet sometimes overbearing family. So when she seeks solace away from everyone and everything she surprises herself when she lets down her guard and becomes fast friends with her new hot neighbor.
Soon these two friends begin to see one another in a new light and force one another to look at the future in a way that they didn’t see coming. With the large Bailey family shenanigans and this friends-to-lover story that will keep you wanting more, your heart and mind will be in for a treat!
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Wyatt and Brooklyn are neighbors and turns out he’s her boss. The antics between these two were hilarious. Brooklyn had a fiancee break up with her via text message. She decides to dump his things out the window and put them out into the hallway. She ends up meeting her hot neighbor Wyatt. The two end up with a hot kiss. Only thing is Wyatt is Brooklyn’s boss at her job. Oh my, what a read!
This is the second book in this new series from Piper Rayne and I’m loving the Baileys <3<3
This family are fast embedding themselves in my heart and becoming a new addiction. They make me laugh, swoon, cry and hot all over! Piper Rayne always manages to deliver their perfect mix of humour with low angst.
Told in a dual POV they have brought an entertaining tale of a woman being left at the altar by text. Its paced well and the storyline keeps you captivated from beginning to end, unable to put it down until you finish. Good job my husband works nights 🙂
The slow burn of romance between Wyatt and Brooklyn was perfect. As much as he wants his new neighbour in his bed, he knows she's needing a friend more so gives her what she needs Once they finally give into their building feelings its going to be seriously explosive.
I can't wait to read more from the Bailey's. They are so close and I love their strong connections.
What can I say, I love the Baileys! The is the second book in the series and centers around Brooklyn Bailey, third oldest of the Bailey clan. the book starts with Brooklyn being left at the altar by Jeff the weasel, via text message. While taking her anger out on Jeff’s items in their apartment, she throws a book, hitting Wyatt in the hallway. Of course, Wyatt is her new boss and new neighbor. I love both Wyatt and Brooklyn. Brooklyn has been through a lot, but is still sweet and kind. Wyatt is a great guy, but needs to find his way to his happiness. I loved that the relationship built slowly, it made me more invested in the happily ever after. Great installment in the series. I cannot wait for the next book!
