Love this!
This is an entire different view of the supernatural world and probably one of the funnest.
I enjoyed this book enough that I read and paid for the next 4 books in this series.
Fun quick read, light weight but entertaining
Very funny but action packed and with an interesting twist. The premise of a vegan vampire is an oxymoron that adds humor from the very start. I really enjoyed the story.
Really enjoyed this book . Full of fun on a genre that normally try’s too hard for the ‘fright ‘ side of supernatural concepts. Thank you Cate for some great escapism entertainment .
An adorable well-written paranormal novel about a vampire who happens to be vegan.
OPINION OF BOOK: ADVENTURES OF A VEGAN VAMP is a brilliantly told twist on an old story. Mallory starts out as an unhappy person, who doesn’t have any friends, doesn’t really like her job or her co-workers. This book made me laugh and kept me engaged. There is nothing that is super gross, so it falls under the cozy category. The story is well written, and the storyline executed brilliantly. The characters are life-like and original.
DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK: Absolutely
SPOILER SECTION (WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT): Mallory is meeting with co-workers that she doesn’t get along with for drinks after work. After her two drinks and some verbal barbs thrown around, Mallory leaves. Days later, she feels like she’s dying, has a thirst she can’t quench and has lost an alarming amount of weight. She is informed by a doctor who has only seen this type of thing once before, and that patient died, that she is a vampire. There is a bodyguard in the room with Mallory and the doctor when the doctor drops a vial of blood on the floor. When Mallory reacts by retching, the bodyguard leaves without a word. The doctor gives her a business card, wishes her luck and rushes her out of the office. Mallory stumbles upon one thing that slacks her thirst and helps fill out her form to something closer to its previous state. Mallory calls the number on the card and meets Alex, who introduces himself as a thief, assassin, wizard. Alex takes her in to the main offices to meet Wembley another vampire who is a 60’s hippy type and Lemann who is the administrator type. Mallory talks Lemann into letting her and Alex try to find the vampire who turned her. This same vampire has attacked other women, including one of Mallory’s former co-workers and an elderly neighbor who saw him with Mallory. Some of the women never lived past the transformation, Mallory is the exception and an oddity. She is told vampires can’t cry or see ghosts, but she has cried and seen ghostly things. Wembley introduces Mallory to a sword named Tangwystl, who only Mallory can hear talk. Tangwystl guides Mallory through a deadly confrontation with the vamp that made her. Mallory gets paid for the job and hears about another woman like her. She decides this is the new direction her life will take. Becoming a vampire was the best thing that’s happened to her, she never realized how unhappy she was as a human.
What’s a girl to do when she wakes up sort of dead? Finding her way as an atypical vamp is a whole new world of adventures for her and the dupes around her. Don’t get me started on dealing with the mad computer geek and dealing with mommy dearest! Challenge upon challenge – and oh so funny and oddly moving!
I am a huge fan of this series! I’m currently reading book 5 and sincerely hope there’s a book 6 and more coming soon! The books are clever, whimsical, they have an interesting and original take on the vampire genre and are genuinely laugh out loud funny! I highly recommend them!
I had a real hilarious good time reading this book and would definitely recommend it for a good quick read!! Cant wait for book 2!! <3
An easy read. A funny, witty, page turner. Many twists to the plot. I enjoyed reading this book.
From the second I saw the genius title, I knew I was going to love this book — and it didn’t disappoint! I was expecting lots of puns and a quirky paranormal romp and that’s exactly what I got. I’m definitely going to be diving into the rest of Cate Lawley’s series, and I suggest you all do too. The first book is currently free, so you’ve got nothing to lose!
Cute start to this tongue-in-cheek mystery series. Mallory’s life just got turned upside down and we get to go on this crazy journey while she gets to figure some of it out. This first story seems more about character & world building but it was fun to meet the cast.
Totally unexpected, how good it was. Characters were great, witty fun read. Main character so very real and yet not at all boring. You wanted to go hang out with her. Can’t wait to read another one. I really enjoyed this one.
Cute
Great beach read!
Light-hearted, but the details were skilled. The banter between the heroine and her handlers was spot on. The office scenes were so perceptive. I believed every location and incident. Great writing doesn’t need to get a pulitzer
You were attacked. You changed. Now, you must feed your urgent Hunger for Vegetarian protein shakes? What? At least, you don’t have to kill people, right? Or do you?
Cute, snarky, fun and a great spin on vampirism in the modern age. This vegan vamp is the Mary Tyler Moore of vampires. Totally loved it!
