Adorkable (ah-dor-kuh-bul): Descriptive term meaning to be equal parts dorky and adorable. For reference, see Sally Spitz.Seventeen-year-old Sally Spitz is done with dating. Or at least, she’s done with the horrible blind dates/hookups/sneak attacks her matchmaking bestie, Hooker, sets her up on. There’s only so much one geek girl and Gryffindor supporter can take. Her solution: she needs a fake … she needs a fake boyfriend. And fast.
Enter Becks, soccer phenom, all-around-hottie, and Sally’s best friend practically since birth. When Sally asks Becks to be her F.B.F. (fake boyfriend), Becks is only too happy to be used. He’d do anything for Sal–even if that means giving her PDA lessons in his bedroom, saying she’s “more than pretty,” and expertly kissing her at parties.
The problem: Sally’s been in love with Becks all her life–and he’s completely clueless.
This book features two best friends, one special edition Yoda snuggie, countless beneath-the-ear kisses and begs the question:
Who wants a real boyfriend when faking it is so much more fun?

Such a sweet read. I loved the dynamic between the two main characters.
Also – this is probably the best title ever for a YA romance.
Thanks for an entertaining read, Cookie O’Gorman 🙂

Adorkarkable should be a movie. It’s a cute best friend turned fake boyfriend romance full of interesting characters. Sally is cute, dorky, and quirky. If I were Sally I would go crazy with all of the crazy blind date schemes here best friend and mom put her through. Becks is a soccer star who has been best friends with Sally since they were little. It was a cute fun read I could see on the TV screen.
This book started off so adorably and I was hooked from page one! And I don’t know if I can gush enough about how much I loved it, how happy I was when I finished! I loved Becks so much, and I love where his name came from, Baldwin Eugene Charles Kent, and that it was leftover from how they were naming all the kids after their uncles but there were four left! But sigh, Becks, he’s like the book boyfriend I would have if I was still in high school and not an old high school librarian. But let’s talk about Sally here too. You see, I was kind of like Sally. Totally felt like a nerd, had all the same feelings of inadequacy that she had, crushes on guys like Becks, (although none of them were my best friend). Also I didn’t really date in high school. I had a blind date or two set up by friends that totally didn’t work out. The banter was cute, the romance was sweet, and I even liked Ash, even if he wasn’t going to be the guy for Sally. So many times I was with Sally and wanted to just slap her best friend Lillian who wouldn’t quite trying to set her up. So much cuteness and sweetness in this book, I finished with a big goofy smile on my face!
Sally AKA “Spitz” to most, is best friends with Becks. They have been close since they were young children. Too bad he has no idea she has been in love with him the whole time. It is an unlikely pair, as he is the hottest guy in school, and she is a well known geek.
Baldwin AKA “Becks” is very glad to be Sally’s best friend. He has secrets of his own he has not shared. When she asks him a favor, he has no problem saying yes. Will it get even more complicated when the whole school finds out?
This was such an amazing story. I found the characters to be rather deep and compelling. I was absolutely enthralled and did not put the book down until I had read the entire thing. Then I wanted to read it again. This was a new author for me – but you can bet I will read all her works now.

OMG! Adorkable is just completely ADORKABLE! I devoured this audiobook. Seriously. I listened to it at work, while I was cooking dinner, while I was folding laundry. I didn’t want to stop listening. Even when I finished listening, I just wanted more. Sally and Becks totally gave me all the Laura Jean and Peter vibes for those of you who are fans of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Sally reminded me so much of my nerdy Harry potter loving self, except my HP shirt is a Hufflepuff shirt, not Gryffindor. The first thing I did after listening to Adorkable is look up what other books Cookie O’Gorman has written, because I need more of her nerdy romantic words.
I loved this book! Wonderful characters and a terrific storyline! A must add to your TBR/LISTEN to list!
I have had this book on my TBR forever!
I am the biggest sucker for YA romance.
Sal and Becks were just adorkable perfection.
I love First love stories and those moments of realization between two
characters that there is a potential for more. <3 Teenage Angst
The families are hilarious. I was actually laughing out loud at some parts.
And I'm so glad that I waited to read this because there is bonus content in the
paperbacks. 🙂
Adorkable by Cookie O’Gorman is a romantic young adult novel. Sally Spitz is tired of her friend Hooker trying to set her up with guys. I mean she is 17, she doesn’t “have to have a boyfriend”. It’s time for a solution and her answer is her best friend Becks. Becks is all for helping out Sally, but there is an unintended consequence for Sally. She has had a real crush on Becks, since forever and now that she is learning what it feels like to pretend to be with him, it starts to feel nice. And real.
I liked the geeky “adorkable” aspects of this book. It made the character more real and identifiable. For better or worse her friends have her back, each in their own way. What makes if for me is that Sally really is her own person, with her own style and her own crazy blend of likes and dislikes and it makes the story that much more heartfelt. Overall I had a lot of fun reading Adorable and Cookie O’Gorman has written a fun and fast book that connects.
What a sweet, swoony romance about young love! One of my favorite tropes is friends-to-lovers, and this was a great one!
Sally is over her friend trying to set her up, so she has her life long friend, Becks, pretend to be her boyfriend. I loved how clueless she was about his feelings, and I loved their interactions and how Becks was the perfect Alpha boyfriend. There was just the perfect amount of angst to move the story along, and I just really loved it!
I came upon this book as a recommendation on prime reading, got to say I am glad I took a chance. The book was adorable and humorous. I loved the characters, Becks although was an all star popular basketball player he still managed to have a geeky side of him that I have to admit it could have been because of Sal, but it showed he was not your typical jock and a player. I honestly was able to see how much he loved Sal. As for Sal she embraced the geekiness within her it was presented well within the story, She had a fun personality. I also have to mention Becks family, his older brothers had me cracking and I loved each one of them and their relationship with Becks and Sal. Sals other friend Hooks she is a Force of nature one can not mess with, she has a strong mindset and lots of determination and her determination for Sal to get a boyfriend it what lead Sal towards Becks and the start of their relationship going beyond more than friends. Lastly, Ash who was displayed as a Jerk at times, was some one that I was just not able to hated, and I loved his comments /interactions with Sal and Becks. Overall the book was a great read and one should take a chance on this book if you want a good laugh and no cliffhanger at the end. The only thing is that this book did have some missed opportunities where the author could have embraced the characters more in some areas of the book, it left me wanting a bit more or felt too rushed,However I will say that I will still be rereading this story again in the future and will added it permanently into my collection of books. This book truly is Adorkable !
This was a fun book! Even if the main character was a little too oblivious.
Fun story
Quick easy read with lovable characters!
This was a cute story–the typical in-love-with-your-best-friend-when-you’re-on-the-geeky-and-awkward-side-but-he’s-a-hot-stud kind of a book.
First off–I really liked Becks, even though his actual name–Baldwin Eugene Charles Kent–is less than stellar. (Come to think of it, a lot of the names in this book are pretty bad–Sally Spitz and Hooker, whose first name is Lillian even though Sally never uses it, especially.) Becks himself, though, is a pretty great guy, if one can get past his love-them-and-leave-them tendencies. (Which he kind of has an excuse for later on, though I’m not 100% sure I buy it. But it’s a sweet sentiment anyway.) At least he’s all kinds of faithful to his bestie, Sally, and when they’re together–as friends, while faking it, and while they’re not–they are adorable.
Sally is a puzzle at times–why the German? it’s a weird quirk, and I don’t get why she had it, though it’s obvious why it was needed later on–but she’s not hard to like either. Given the fact that she’s got all kinds of guys telling her she’s cute and hot in the book, it’s a bit puzzling why she’s in the dilemma she is at the beginning, but I was willing to go with it.
I was less than fond of Sally’s other best friend, Hooker (ugh, that name!), and the role Sally’s mom had in the whole matchmaking-for-Sally scheme. I don’t really understand why it’s so crucial for a high school senior to have a significant other, and wasn’t crazy about all the subterfuge the two of them engaged in to get her to go out with so many guys. It just didn’t feel necessary. (In real life. Obviously it’s necessary for the plot of the story.)
I found myself wishing that Becks and Sally had sat down and had a real conversation about their relationship way before they actually did, but them not doing so earlier led up to a really cute ending which leaves you with the warm fuzzies, so…all’s well, and all that.
Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B-

Cute as far as it goes, but boy, the main character was thick.
