No. More. Us.more
I love it! I love Lily & Lo, Connor & Rose, Ryke, Daisy. I love everything about this series! The way these guys rally around each other is everything. Lily and Lo’s love is proving to weather the storm and they’re learning to support each other in a healthy way. They’re building a family…one full of people that they choose who are loyal and supportive. And I love it!
Now we’re getting somewhere! Addicted for Now was a far more enjoyable read for me than Addicted to You. Giving a series another chance even though the first book didn’t meet all your expectations can really pay off.
This book adds more depth to the characters of Lily and Lo. We finally learn some of the catalysts for Lily’s sex addiction—a component I felt was severely lacking before. The story delves further into the misconceptions and stigma attached to sex addiction and the ways it impacts the loved ones of the sufferer.
I had a great deal of empathy for Lo and Lily’s struggles, and there is the right amount of tension as I constantly wondered if they could beat their addictions or if they would revert to enabling each to the point of relapsing. Their co-dependency is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I also loved the devotion of Lo’s half brother, Ryke, and his determination to keep Lo sober at all costs, despite Lo’s objections. I’m excited to learn about the other distinct and colorful characters tied to Lily and Lo.
Krista and Becca Ritchie have recommended reading the Addicted series and the Calloway Sisters series in tandem for optimum enjoyment. This way you can seamlessly follow the timeline of events. You can enjoy the series separately, but here is the suggested reading order:
• Addicted to You (Addicted)
• Ricochet (Addicted)
• Addicted for Now (Addicted)
• Kiss the Sky (Calloway Sisters)
• Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters)
• Thrive (Addicted)
• Addicted After All (Addicted)
• Fuel the Fire (Calloway Sisters)
• Long Way Down (Calloway Sisters)
Holy shit. Just holy shit. The twists and turns in this book came at me from all sides. I wasn’t expecting it, but I loved it. My jaw dropped on more than one occasion. I just didn’t see some of the problems that would come at Lo and Lily.
And those twists? Those problems? That drama? It drove the story. Yes, Lo and Lily are why we read. They are the couple we are rooting for because they seem to have the world against them. Yet, they deserve love just like everyone else. And this is their battle. Their story.
Our regular favorites are back to help Lily and Loren. You’ll learn a little more about Conner Cobalt, Ryke Meadows, Daisy and Rose. You’ll learn about those who are willing to sacrifice those they love just to get a step ahead of their past.
You’re going to see the dark side of this love, the depths of addiction, and the loyalty that lies within them.
“”I don’t know how to live without you.” And I shake my head quickly as tears pool. “And I don’t want to know how. I don’t want to find out.”
He is my breath. My soul, my lifeforce.”
6 stars! Did I really expect to love this story as much as I did? Not by a long shot. But this book turned out to be the best. In retrospective, Addicted to You and Ricochet now feel like (albeit amazing) introduction to the story in Addicted for Now – the constant battles with the addiction, the search and fighting for love, and fulfilling life. It’s everything I’ve expected from Krista and Becca Ritchie since my introduction to their writing with the Like Us series. This story seemed, with its plot structure and world building, a bit different than the first two books in the series, and reminded me of the writing I initially fell in love with.
Structurally, the story (massive by the way, almost 500 pages, what?!) is divided in 4 parts, which makes it much easier to follow it. It’s also told in dual POVs: Lily and Lo’s, and the anxiously awaited Lo’s insight to this story did not disappoint. Lily and Loren are recovering addicts now, and we follow them on their way of trying to live a ‘normal’ life, not hiding out in the house indulging their addictions, but being a full-functioning adults, making and repairing relationships with family and friends, going to school, having a job. And all of it is a complicated feat for these two, but the main story lies actually in romance, and their love makes all the complications in their life worth it. Their love is definitely one of those forever ones, and that’s putting it mildly!
The suspenseful/mysterious factor in the story definitely gave a new layer to the plot, and brought it to the next level. There is’ the mysterious person’, or a ‘villain’; but not to spoil anything, I’m not to say anything further about it, except to state that the identity of that person, and the backstory, will blindside you, or at least surprise you near the end. The twists and turns, the roadblocks as LiLo are fighting for the happiness they deserve so badly, are amazingly plotted in this book, some more, and some less unexpected, but amazing nonetheless.
Big shout-out to authors for bringing us more of the supporting cast: I loved more of Rose and Connor, and Daisy and Ryke! Their books are a must-read now, too. I don’t usually hate on characters, but Mom Calloway is – in my humble opinion – a terrible person, and, to be honest, I don’t think that’s ever going to change. She herself makes one of those roadblocks, and I hope she realizes the wrongs of her ways at some point and let her kids be happy, although I don’t see it happening, not soon, and not later, and that’s pity.
And that brings me to the one more reason to praise this book: these authors are not afraid of discussing taboo topics, hard-to-read-about topics, the dark and plain ugly side of humanity, and showing us how much pain is in this world, while leading us to conclusion that kindness and love are the things we should surround ourselves with, and bring out to the world.
The emotional roller coaster awaits if you embark on the journey of reading this series. It makes you tear up, laugh, your heart pound. It’s everything. I’m officially obsessed with these characters, and I’m immediately starting the next one in the series. These books you won’t be able to put down. These books will occupy your mind for day, weeks, months, and years after you finished them. These characters seem real, so relatable, and attainable, and approachable. And that’s why you’ll love them.
6 stars and recommendations to everyone who loves a good book that commands your attention and gives you chills!
I can honestly say that I love these books. I have become so in love with these characters that I can wait to read the next books. I love that its not a happily ever after, but more like a work in progress. I think that Lily and Lo are so realistic that they really could be any one of us. And they are working to make it work because they love each other. I know some people just want the romance and fairy tale endings… I like happy ending books too… but these can give hope to people who have any kind of issues that they are working through to make their happy ending. Now I am excited to go on and read about Conner and Ryke…. I love how they just inserted themselves into Lily and Lo’s lives. It continues to be a series that I enjoy. The emotions that come from their lives, their problems are real for me. I have found myself crying at their sadness, their happiness, their triumphs and their failures. I am constantly cheering them on and I will continue to do so as long as the series goes
