Adam McDougall wants nothing more than the life he has always known…He is content with his life in the Highlands. All he needs is his family, his home, and solitude to build his inventions. One thing he certainly does not need? Being taken from his work in order to lead the British hunting parties who take advantage of his beloved land.Rachel Trenton yearns to expand her horizons…The obedient … her horizons…
The obedient daughter of a ruthless businessman, Rachel feels a calling to experience more of the world before settling down. She accompanies her father on a hunting trip to the Scottish Highlands, hoping to find adventure, but unprepared for all else that is awaiting her there.
Despite their differences, they are pulled together…
When Adam sets out to lead his next hunting party, the last thing he expects is a delicate Englishwoman who will only slow them down. His shock only increases when she stirs unexpected — and unwanted — emotions within him. Now he must decide whether he puts his trust in her — or in all he has ever known to be true.
For readers 18+ due to some steamy content. Note: Adam’s Call was previously published as Treasures of the Wind and The Highlander’s Call by Audrey Adair.

A great story! I fell in love with Rachel and Adam. She is a strong independent Englishwoman whereas he is a proud and fierce Highlander. What a hunk though. When I received the ARC I couldn’t put it down.
I haven’t read a lot of highlander books and I really liked this one. The storyline was interesting and engaging and it moved along at a nice pace. Adam was quite the innovator, always trying to find new ways to help his clan. His recent project involved harnessing wind for energy. He meets Rachel when he takes a group of Englishman, including Rachel’s father who is a businessman, on a hunt. They both feel an instant connection to each other, but Rachel’s father has other plans for her. The story was very well-written and the plot very interesting. The story definitely brought a smile to my face. I enjoyed this book very much and definitely would recommend it.

Scotland 1885
Adam was a dreamer. He was fascinated by the new inventions and strides that were being made in industry. He was always trying to think of ways to help keep their people from emigrating, giving them new ways to do things and to ease the time it took.
His brother had asked him to lead a hunting party, usually the English wanting a “wild adventure in the untamed highlands.”
Rachel Trinton was determined to go with her father on their hunting trip in Scotland. He finally relented but tried to push her toward Vincent Thompson, a man who worked with her father… She was not interested.
Then she saw him “He looked like a fierce Scottish Highland warrior of days long past…. she had never seen a man so…so…undeniably attractive. He held himself tall and proud, his jacket tight over his chest above the kilt that swirled around his legs.” When he was introduced as their guide Adam, she could see his eyes scan the crowd and then “He had captured her in his gaze, and it seemed he was not letting go.”
Ellie St Clair is excellent in bringing scenes like this to life and characters that come off the page. I thoroughly enjoy the journey of Adam and Rachel and could only sigh as I turned the last page!
Rachel and Adam were both strong willed, arguing at their first meeting. She was bored and decided she wanted an adventure in Scotland. Well with getting shot, going to a Highlander wedding, and being stuck in a cabin with Adam she got more than she expected. I didn’t like manipulative selfish Vincent Thompson, whom her father wanted her to marry. I don’t know how she could get past him shooting her in the leg even if she wasn’t his intended target. Her father was an underhanded liar who made her believe she owed him for taking her in. They were both nasty to the crofters who were just trying to live theirs lives in peace. Adams family was wonderful taking care of her when was injured and welcoming her into their fold, especially his mother and sister. I loved that he was an inventor and that his mind came up with ways to help others. I liked that even thought he was handsome, he wasn’t a ladies man and preferred to focus on his inventions. This was a sexy, funny, sweet, and at times intense highlander historical romance.
Another wonderful book by Ellie St. Clair. I thoroughly enjoy the Highlander series with its very strong characters! Each member of this family has their own tale to tell with the introduction of new themes and a taste of the history from that era. Adam and Rachel are an unlikely couple to unite however their desires and passion pull them together in this very interesting and compelling story. I highly recommend it and look forward to more in this series!
The third book in The Victorian Highlanders series a well written story that kept me turning pages. This book had me intrigued from the beginning. I loved the descriptions throughout. There are some very manipulative characters, makes you wonder how Rachel turned out so well. Loved the back and forth between Rachel and Adam. He has such an amazing mind. Rachel does all she can to make things right and follows her heart.

A Victorian Highlander.
Adam is an introvert, a Highlander, an inventor and a reluctant guide to English hunting parties (so not a fan of hunting). I really liked him.
It’s on said hunting trip that he meets Rachel. How else were they going to meet? She’s young and just spreading her wings a bit before being married off.
Recommend.
ONE INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
Creepy critters! Ellie doesn’t hesitate unleashing one beautifully composed spin with this compelling, chart topping storyline and gripping plot, revving this baby up full throttle, fusing this gem together flawlessly. Quirky mishaps and surprising happenstance, showcase the taxing trials and pulse racing tribulations, stumbling through the crazy twists and wicked turns, testing them in ways they never saw coming. Coiled, knotted and tightly woven, exposing the explosive ups and agonizing downs, grounding in it’s simplicity and awe inspiring in it’s depth. The dynamics and continence in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing a deep bond, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are complex and genuine with traits and qualities that add depth and realism, blend and flow transforming into relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Ellie, thanks for sharing this lil’ fella with us.
I enjoyed how this story unfolded and held my interest from beginning until the end.
The h is a devoted daughter and her father has raised her on his own. You learn he is not an honest man in more ways than one. He keeps things from his 22 year old daughter that has ruined her life.
The H loves his big family and the Highlands. When he meets the h is has no respect for her and discounts her. The way he sees she is stronger than she appears warmed my heart. He realizes she is kind, loving and loyal.
There are a few hiccups in their relationship. Some miscommunications that don’t last forever – thankfully! I enjoyed how the tables were turned on her father.
The secondary character’s added to the story. Even though I’ve read the series, it is a stand alone. There is mild lovemaking described once outside and within marriage. Heat level 3.5 out of 5 – not vulgar.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and a tad of spice.

I loved the story of Adam McDougall and Rachel Trenton, the second book of the Victorian Highlanders. It’s fresh and full of promise and discovery. An unlikely match at first but Rachel’s determination and intelligence earns Adam’s respect but her innate goodness and beauty and sparks something deep within Adam. Her father reluctantly allows Rachel to tag along on a hunting party in Scotland with a groups of his associates. Determined not to be a burden but also not to miss a moment, she is inadvertently shot and convalesces with Adam’s family. Adam is in the midst of inventing a new way to make electricity unaware that that is Rachel’s father’s business. Adam’s invention has advantages Hardwick Trenton can use in his business. The story has many twists and turns and sub plots going on weaving all together for a fantastic yarn.
I received and ARC copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Adam loves his highland home. He doesn’t love the English people who come to hunt. When he is tasked to take a group on a hunt he is not happy. Especially with the girl Rachel who continually goes against what he says. But when she gets hurt during a mishap Adam is her rescuer. Things change as does their feelings. But her father and his protege do all they can to keep them apart. Love is worth fighting for. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
The romance between Scot Adam and English Rachel was lovely. Good plot.
There is not a chance for the villain and the snob to win.
Adam’s life sounded so grand for a youngster to have and then like we all do he became an adult. Now he out on a hunt, when he meets a young English woman Rachel and the attraction, is strong. This tale takes place in both Scotland and London. The characters need to face a few challenges a small amount of heat in this well-written piece. It is a bit different and a very engaging story that I enjoyed a great deal. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Adam is the brother who is always inventing new ways to do things. He loves the highlands and his way of life. Rachel wants something different for her life than what her father has planned for her. A trip to thee highlands puts her in Adam’s path and opens up a whole new world to her. Once again Ellie St. Claire has taken her readers on a wonderful journey of Scottish romance. I love these two characters because they were both innocent in heart and deed. They were being manipulated but were able come out the winner. These two make a sweet and beautiful couple.
The well written storyline and the well created characters made this book a very enjoyable and entertaining read!
4.5 Stars
Adam McDougall is content with his life in the Highlands. All he needs is his family, his home, and solitude to build his inventions. One thing he certainly does not need? Adam & Rachel fall for each other from their first meeting & things appear to be going well until her manipulative father interferes. A well written page turning read, which I read in well under a day. I love the McDougalls who are a strong loving, caring family & Adam is no exception. I’m surprised Rachel was so loving & caring, with a father like hers but that must have been the influence of Sullivan. He road to their HEA isn’t smooth but it does make for an engrossing read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Adam is the third brother of four he has always been a dreamer of things, ways he could help his clan lead better lives, to ease their work. He was blessed with a remarkable gift of inventing what was needed. He loved his family and they understood his daydreaming and wanting to always be working on his inventions.
Racheal Trenton, a beautiful English miss was going to travel to Scotland with her father and several others for a hunting party with them was Vincent the man her father insisted she would marry though she said no. When Adam must lead the English group for their hunt he clashes with Rachel almost as soon as he sees her. Once Rachel begins to prove herself up to the rigors of hiking in Scotland he relents a little when she is shot during the hunt Adam is beside himself and he rushes her off to the family castle so his mother can help her. They come to know each other while she recovers, Adam even allows her to see the wind machine he is working on. When she shows real interest he learns her father owns an electric power plant in England. Hoping that there is a future for them he goes to England with her when her father promises him a partnership regarding his wind machine. When he is betrayed he returns to England and Rachel stays in England. I received this as an ARC and this is my honest review
This was a bit different than the usual Highlander romances but I really enjoyed it! Adam is an inventor at heart and loves nothing more than to tinker in his workshop inventing things that will help his family and hometown.
Rachel joins her father on a hunting party and the guide is none other than Adam! He has no use for the English and isn’t afraid to show it. Rachel has always wanted to visit the Highlands and falls in love with the green hills and mountains, as well as the people. She feels attracted to Adam and vice versa but her father has other plans for her, much to her dismay.
I loved the fact that there isn’t too much angst in the story and also loved the way her father was thwarted in the end:) Well written and one steamy scene but that was also well written. A love story to make you smile and sigh!!
