Eve Brown is a certified hot mess. No matter how hard she … and more!
Eve Brown is a certified hot mess. No matter how hard she strives to do right, her life always goes horribly wrong. So she’s given up trying. But when her personal brand of chaos ruins an expensive wedding (someone had to liberate those poor doves), her parents draw the line. It’s time for Eve to grow up and prove herself—even though she’s not entirely sure how…
Jacob Wayne is in control. Always. The bed and breakfast owner’s on a mission to dominate the hospitality industry and he expects nothing less than perfection. So when a purple-haired tornado of a woman turns up out of the blue to interview for his open chef position, he tells her the brutal truth: not a chance in hell. Then she hits him with her car—supposedly by accident. Yeah, right.
Now his arm is broken, his B&B is understaffed, and the dangerously unpredictable Eve is fluttering around, trying to help. Before long, she’s infiltrated his work, his kitchen—and his spare bedroom. Jacob hates everything about it. Or rather, he should. Sunny, chaotic Eve is his natural-born nemesis, but the longer these two enemies spend in close quarters, the more their animosity turns into something else. Like Eve, the heat between them is impossible to ignore… and it’s melting Jacob’s frosty exterior.

This series is one of my all-time favorite contemporary romance series ever. What a wonderful book to finish it out with. Eve is amazing and witty and uniquely herself. Jacob is a grumpy dude who’s pretty cinnamon roll on the inside. They have the A+ banter I’ve come to expect from this series and this is the STEAMIEST book so far! Definitely going to be a top read of 2021 for me!
Eve Brown has held a few different jobs over the past few years. The latest one being a kind of disaster – oops! Eve’s parents are a bit harsh and decide to cut Eve off for a while until she can hold down a job.
Eve is upset, but understands (kinda) her parents reasoning for cutting her off. While taking a long drive she happens upon a charming Inn. This is where she meets Jacob Wayne – owner of said Inn. Jacob and Eve immediately do not get a long. Jacob just happens to be interviewing for a cook and Eve just happens to be looking for a job. The interview doesn’t go so great and while leaving, Eve manages to hit Jaco with her car (yikes!). And now Eve kind of has to stay to help out Jacob because – she did kind of hit him with her car.
What starts off as a rocky working relationship slowly turns into a tentative friendship. I loved the relationship between Eve and Jacob. They are literally the definition of sunshine and grump with Jacob even nicknaming Eve “Sunshine” (swoon ). I loved the slow growth of their relationship and how they didn’t ever shy away from hard subjects for both of them.
I really liked the fact that Jacob was very outright and forthcoming with his autism. And that he felt at ease with Eve. Eve hasn’t always had the best relationships with friends either and so it was a joy watching their friendship bloom. They were always free to be each other when they were together.
As always, Talia is such a talented author. There are always specific lines that stick with me when reading her books and I definitely highlighted parts of Act Your Age, Eve Brown that I will be going back to revisit.

I had an opportunity to listen to the the audiobook of Act Your Age, Eve Brown and it was so good! The audiobook was narrated by Ione Butler and I feel that she did a wonderful job narrating Eve, Jacob and all of the secondary characters in the book. I was laughing so hard while listening to this book and that just goes to show you how amazing and talented the author and narrator are!
Grab Act Your Age, Eve Brown if you’re looking for an enemies-to-lovers/grumpy sunshine romance that will have you laughing and swooning in equal measures!
I received a complimentary copy/audiobook of this book from the publisher.
I loved everything about this book! The characters were superb and so relatable. Amongst the charm and the funny moments and the steamy romance were little inspiring treasures that I could keep with me for a very long time!
Eve Brown is the last of the Brown sisters to get her own love story. It won’t disappoint. I totally love Talia Hibbert’s whimsical sexy Brown Sister novels. I mean, how do you make a pompous bed and breakfast owner sexy??? Well, I can tell you, Talia manages it. Eve and Jacob are as hot and sweet together as a big mug of Belgian hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. Highly recommend.
The best in a wonderful series!
Here is a book so immediately charming and immersive that you can read it by accident, which I more or less did. I don’t mean to say that I didn’t fully intend to read this book—I love Talia Hibbert’s writing and was saving this book for a day when I needed to boost my mood, so the purchase and careful hoarding and opening of this book were all one-hundred-percent deliberate. It’s just that once I’d started, well, the next day, I intended to reread my own draft for editing, which I do on my ereader, but then Act Your Age was already open and I just… read it. All of it. That’s how wonderful it is. Two autistic protagonists—one a delightful fat Black woman who loves bright colors and glitter and is a chaos muppet, the other a reserved and serious white man who, as a consummate order muppet, wants everything just so—fall into running a B&B that is open to everyone, but especially caters to guests who need particular accommodations, and then, of course, they fall in love. Each character is so very much themself and the writing sings with their individual voices. Also: it’s hot as hell.
I quite love Eve Brown. There is something that was so different about this book in the series compared to Chloe and Dani’s book. The almost enemies to lovers feel between Eve and Jacob was perfect. It was funny as hell and made me laugh so much.
What I loved the most about this book was Eve really getting herself together. She has multiple talents, but never stuck with anything. Working for Jacob forced her to stick to this one thing that she actually enjoyed doing working at the B&B. She reevaluated her friendships, how people treated her, how she conformed to other’s expectations of her and how she should act. More than that she acknowledged all these things about herself and endeavored to do and be better. Jacob full accepted her even with how much she drove him completely mad. He loved and hated her shirts with quirky one liners, her pink/purple braids, the fact that he tries to frazzle her and she rolled with it. I loved it all so much.
Then there’s frazzled, uptight, Jacob. It was so great seeing Eve breaking that carefully composed personality of his. She had him acting outside himself and it made me laugh so much. But also, he was so afraid of falling for her because he knew he would never want to let her go because he’s a forever kind of guy. I adored every minute they spent together. The way Talia Hibbert writes her heroines and how sexy the are with the women they are attracted to makes me swoony. It is so hot. Jacob was so perfect for Eve.
Anyways, I loved Act Your Age, Eve Brown. I’m not gonna lie it may now be my favorite of this series. This series has been such a joy to read.
Talia Hibbert has a way of taking a simple story and sprinkling it with magic. While I think Dani Brown will always be my favorite, I will not soon forget Eve and Jacob.
I really did love this. Eve and Jacob were charming both as a couple and as seperate characters. The banter was some of the best I’ve probably read since Dani. When I really sank my teeth into this, I couldn’t put it down.It made me swoon, it made me hungry, and it made me think of other things. I am sorry to see the Brown Sisters go, but I’ll visit them again, for sure. TW: childhood neglect Tropes/rep: Grumpy x sunshine, workplace romance, caretaking, forced proximity, opposites attract, dislike to love, disability and poc rep
I can’t say enough good things about this trilogy by Talia Hibbert ! I have bought all three in paperback and enjoyed the offbeat heroines and heros with challenges that make this series unique and special. Eve and her love did not disappoint! I too have written an autistic hero and hers rang true.
Loved it!
This is hilarious. Eve is very optimistic, straight-forward, very compassionate and looking out for her fit. Her career adventures have been quite thrilling but fizzled her out. Since her parents are feed up with her fickle career ways she is able to discovery what she loves to do. Jacob is the exact opposite. Their friction is practical as they handle the business and get to know one another. The romance is sweet and steamy. I was able to borrow the audiobook from my local library and the narrator did well. I love this series and the Brown sisters, as an adult, some of the language was cringeworthy.
Another great story from Talia Hibbert! The characters were flawed yet perfect. The story was raw and humorous. I loved it from beginning to end. And can we just acknowledge the level of heat between these two characters?!? Sizzling!
I especially appreciated the author’s focus on neurodiversity and found that it was done so authentically.
This enemies to lovers-ish story is absolutely worth a read! I can’t get enough of the quirky Brown sisters and their suitors.
This book was my favorite of the 3 books! Romance at its finest. A steamy super sexy read so be prepared!
love the whole series so cute!
From all the things everyone was telling me, I knew I was going to like this book but I was not ready to like this book THIS much! I loved this book so so much, I flew through it in one sitting!
Tropes:
– enemies to lovers (hate to love)
– boss/employee
– grump/subshine
– forced proximity
– vibrators during sexy times
Sunshine heroines can be very hit or miss for me because they can end up being a little too bubbly or too eccentric for me, but Eve Brown was crafted to perfection. She was the perfect balance of carefree, cynical, emotional, relatable, and fun. I loved her and her dynamic with Jacob. I love how she discovered who she was and what she needed from life. The “no one understands me like you,” kind of relationship she had with Jacob was so heartwarming. I love how they found their other half, the person who accepted and loved them for every bit of who they were.
The enemies to lovers aspect (though short) was very well done and I was having a great time with it.
Jacob. Jacob, Jacob, Jacob. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was so caring and understanding. The most beautiful moments of the book were when Eve would get insecure about something, thinking that Jacob was going to shame her for being herself and he would just be kind, understanding, and supportive. He was so sweet and I just need him to be happy for the rest of his life. He was the perfect, “grump who is secretly a softie” hero. Also, who allowed this man to be this sexy?! The steamy scenes were just amplified because of this man. He was so confident and caring, I was consistently swooning. Reading the way he admired and loved Eve was just beautiful. I could go on and on about him for days.
I also totally need a book of Jacob’s best friend, please Talia Hibbert! He was so sexy and rakish, I was there for it. If you make that book, I will immediately buy it.
My favorite thing about books that are the last in the series is how you get to see characters from the previous books. I love how we got to see the Brown family + the heroes from the last book work to get Eve her happily ever after. The boys were absolutely adorable and I was living for how they were being so teasing and loving with Eve and the rest of the family. I loved seeing Eve communicate her needs and her problems with the family and how well they took it. Romance books are more than just romantic relationships, and this book was the biggest show of that.
The grand gesture at the end was so sweet and I loved how everyone pitched in to help. Especially Redford.
If you haven’t read this book, definitely check it out. It is absolutely amazing and totally worth the hype.

This was the best Brown Sisters story to me! I loved it! The characters, as always, were relatable and charming. Jacob and Eve were SO CUTE and I loved the Autism recognition with Jacob’s character. The sexy scenes, as always, were incredible, too. Talia Hibbert is definitely an author everyone should be reading.
I listened to this one on audiobook and it was so easy to get lost in the story and not do anything else but listen. I was sad the story ended for these 3 sisters.
I loved everything about ACT YOUR AGE, EVE BROWN, despite failing to realize it was #3 in a series. So yes, you can read it as a standalone.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was fabulous. As for the story? Amazing characters–loved that they highlight the vast array of differences on the autism spectrum; hilarious situations; laugh-out-loud dialogue; steamy sex scenes.
The perfect feel-good book for this weird moment in our lives.
A delightful conclusion to the trilogy. Eve is utterly adorable and this was a heartwarming tale showing two wonderful, neuroatypical people falling in love. Hard. And perfectly. Also there was more Gigi and she’s my absolute favorite. Of course, now I’m wondering if we might possibly get a spinoff with Mont’s sisters… pretty please Talia?
Thank you @librofm & @avonbooks for #gifting me a copy of this audiobook.

• Told from the POV of both Eve & Jacob
• As always, I loved the that the characters were both from under represented groups; both characters are on the autism spectrum

• Opposites attract; Eve is a bit flighty and Jacob is ridges and set in his ways
• This was the perfect blend of sweet & steamy
• The purple glitter scene was my FAVORITE! It had me giggling! (Iykyk)
• The narrator really brought this book to life, the voice was easy to listen to and quite entertaining
