The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron. He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . . Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost … unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.
Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.
Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.
War has never been more deadly… or more fun.

Expertly told! No Spoilers. Be sure to read the author’s note at the beginning so you understand the format of this novel as it is a little different than her typical Dark Hunterverse stories. This is especially true if you are reading it on Kindle (which I did) because the Kindle download starts at page one rather than at the cover so you might …
For me this long awaited book lived up to the hype. I was very pleased with it.
I reread this this weekend, and it still brings tears to my eyes what Acheron went though at the hands of people who were suppose to love and take care of him and the sick terrible things that the gods did to him also. The first half of this book is a gut wrenched. But the second half is full of redemption and Acheron finding love and for the first …
Ash is the guy in all the Dark-Hunter novels that appears and makes things right or makes the villian own his shit, no matter the consequence. Love-love-love this book
This was my first Sherrilyn Kenyon novel, and I was very glad I just picked it out of the many options and series… The angst, storytelling, and character development over a lifespan – positively epic!
I have read all of the Dark Hunter books but this book brought out every emotion-laughing, crying, cringing but most of all sad when I finished it. Throughout the series we had many questions about Acheron and this book answered them all making him the most multidimensional character. Kenyon is a genius in making you almost believe this is reality …
Incredible writing. I love Acheron. His history is so heartbreaking that you never believe he will have a happily ever after.
I’ve read this story twice and it was even better the second time. If you’re a fan of the Dark Hunter series, do yourself a favor and grab this.
I love Acheron, especially for everything he went through that made him stronger. This is definitely one of my favorites.
Queen of Paranormal Romance! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her Dark Hunter series, & this book is a punch-to-the-gut tragic story, with redemption & life lessons galore! How she writes such immensely detailed books that draw you in & get you emotionally invested is amazing! I swear Ms. McQueen (aka Sherrilyn Kenyon) has magical book-writing powers!
I love the whole Dark Hunter series but this has to be my favorite of them all.
This was a much anticipated book in the Dark-Hunter saga. A word of warning, the first 600 pages or so are very hard to read. Acheron’s human life was horrible and you hear and see all of that in the beginning of his book. Born a human with his God powers bound he was persecuted his whole life. When he died he was then tricked by Artemis and …
I love all things DH. And finally getting to read Acheron’s story made me happy!
Acheron’s story is quite amazing. I cried… I don’t like to cry when I read, I still loved this book.
One of my all time favorites
This book is a hard one to put down. Really explained why the main character is why he is. Answers a lot of questions I had before reading this book. Loved it
This and styxx gives such a heart wrenching story
If I could give this a billion out of five I would. This breaks my heart and yet there is hope. I could seriously feel the anguish, he was going through. There were times I couldn’t put the book down and others times that I almost ran from the story yet it still wouldn’t leave my mind. But mostly I had to put it down because of the anguish. I …
Once I read this book I had to read the whole darkhunter series there is an order to read this author is so talentive that a new fan could pic up on the story as long as they like deep meaning stories
Love it from beginning to end I read this book in a day and a half
The female character is so bland I don’t remember her name. But this is Acheron’s life story, so who cares. The betrayal by every female in his life is written well. The love story not as well written. For a love story I recommend Devil May Cry. I hated that this book ended Acheron’s arch and started Nick’s–I loathe Nick but I’m in the minority. …
