A fighter pilot with regrets, a humanitarian worker with a mission, and a second chance to work through everything that keeps them apart.Dex Callison, otherwise known as Ace makes a split second decision to parachute into a hostile situation to make a lot of things in his life right. His life as a Senator’s son, a JAG Air Force pilot and then an active duty soldier have not yet filled the loss of … yet filled the loss of his best friend, the only woman he has ever loved, Gianna West.
Gianna West thought that she and Dex were made for each other forever. He’d promised to finish his active duty and then join her building orphanages all over the world in remote villages. But she learned in one instant, how much more Dex wanted to start his own military training program, much more than he wanted to be with her. Alone, serving people she falls in love with, she tries to tell herself she doesn’t miss him. All of that goes out the window when he shows up in her village on a remote island.
When you travel to a different country every six months, there’s little time for relationships. Every pilot joins Top Flight for different reasons, but no one expects to fall in love.

This was a great story about rekindling lost love. It has great characters and I kept rooting for them to get together. They both had high ambitions and strong desires, for the direction their lives would go, but they seemed to be pulled in opposite directions. I like to read to escape the realities of life. This story was maybe a little too realistic and political for my taste. It is really well written and a great love story. I love all of this authors books and will continue reading them!
OH!MY! Handsome fighter pilots and action packed scenes will delight readers. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment of this series.
Recommend to readers who enjoy clean, fast paced romance.
I borrowed a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
This is the start of a new series about top fighter pilots, trained by the military and now on their own using their skills to train and save others.
Dex and Gianna were meant to be together but then he left and she felt he had deserted her. Now, they are thrown back together and caught in an international incident in the Pacific Islands. Can they save each other and still save the good people on the islands.
I borrowed this book from the Kindle Owners Lending Library and I enjoyed it very much. It is a clean romantic suspense that has some good feels and has a happy ending.
Sophia Summers very successfully combined aid to the poor in developing nations, shmoozing donors, a pilot training program, the brink of war, and a second-chance romance to write an outstanding book! Dex and Gianna are both very dedicated to their jobs, which seem worlds apart, but both involve helping people. The plot twists and turns before getting to that HEA. There’s an epilogue to wrap up everything. If you like exciting clean romances, I recommend that you give Ace: A Fighter Pilot Romance a try. I definitely plan to read more of this series and other works by this author. I got my copy through KU.
Great start to a super fun series! I loved the adventure, the romance, and the mystery. I wish it would have been a little longer and explained a little more in the end of the political stuff that was involved-it really drew me in. But I love that this is a series and I wouldn’t doubt that at some point it will come together!

This is the first book in a new series called Top Flight, a civilian company formed to hone the jet fighter pilot skills for other countries. Dex, a former Air Force military pilot, and others are in the Pacific for their latest job. The team receives an SOS call from an American woman on the island of Panau requesting humanitarian aid for a village where she has an orphanage. She has spent much time working with the locals to create self-sustaining food and water sources. Dex discovers that the American woman is Gianna, his closest friend. Because of differing agendas, Dex and Gianna have drifted apart and moved on.
The island of Panau has become a military and political quagmire. As Dex and Gianna try to find common ground, a crisis catapults them into the middle of a hostile coup that puts the local villagers in danger.
This book is well-written and fast paced. The backstory fills in several details that helps the reader connect with the characters. There is one gaping exception though. Where did Top Flight get their jets? Maybe it is just me but the omission of that detail bugged me enough to drop this novel to 4 stars.
Having served in the Air Force and being a big fan of the TV show JAG, I’m super excited for this new Fighter Pilot series, which is a collaborative effort by a few authors. Dex (aka Ace) is the son of a senator, a fighter pilot, a JAG attorney and now he runs Top Flight, his own military training program for pilots. All of these things haven’t been able to keep him from thinking about Gianna West, his best friend and love of his life that he left behind. When he decides to parachute onto the island where she’s living, helping out the locals, will they be able to work together to make it out of their situation alive?
To me, the book that kicks off a new series is a difficult book to write because you have to set up the premise and introduce us to all of the characters that will later get their own book, which you may or may not write. I think the author did a great job introducing us to all of the characters while telling us Ace’s story.
I liked both of the main characters. They love helping others although it’s in completely different ways. They handled themselves well under pressure and still managed to keep their sense of humor. I liked getting to know them by the question game they played in the boat while waiting to be rescued.
I like second-chance-at-love stories and Dex and Gianna have a good one. They weren’t ripped apart by another person or a missed letter or phone call, but by the passion each has to help make the world a better place. A few years have passed since their breakup, now they’re older, more mature and have gained a different perspective because of the time spent doing what they love. Because of that, they’re able to come up with a solution that they can both live with.
This story has a lot of action and adventure and kept my interest. I eagerly await the other books in the series.
Ace: A Fighter Pilot Romance, by Sophia Summers, is a fantastic beginning to the new Top Flight series. I especially loved the no-nonsense, strong military character of Ace. He’s so tough yet good and loving. I really enjoyed reading his and Gi’s love story. It was sweet and clean with some great spice and a wonderful ending. I’m looking forward to the next books in the series!
This fighter pilot romance was an adventure from the beginning to the end. With two characters with strong personalities who have very different ideas about reaching the same goal mixed with the beauty of the islands of the Pacific and the craziness of war. This story was a great one from start to finish. While the adventure was strong, I would have enjoyed a little more romance.
Sophia Summers does a great job of introducing characters with intense feelings, a beautiful world, and a realistic conflict. Each character has a different perspective and Sophia manages to make both perspectives valid and logical yet contradicting. For an adventure with a wide of romance this was a fun one to read.
I received a complimentary book from the author. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed reading this book! A man and woman (both pilots) have known each other their whole life, and each one loved the other but disagreed about what was needed for certain islands. I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance books.
I enjoyed the story of Dex and Gianna. They have a past relationship that reignites when they are together. I think the author did a great job of telling their story and laying the foundation for the series. Im excited to read the rest of the books as they come out.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
Ace is a fast-paced action packed new contemporary romance by the talented Sophia Summers. If you like Top Gun, this will be a great read for you.
Overall, the story had great chemistry between Dex and Gianna. When the two were actually working together or just being together, it was easy to feel the chemistry and attraction that they deeply shared. Dex’s character felt more flushed out for me and I could really see the dimensions he had and what motivated his actions. Gianna, on the other hand, just didn’t resonate with me. She felt too reckless for how her background set her up and I think a lot of the miscommunication was due to her absolute one-sided perspective. The two were a great pair with the same goal, they just needed a bit of a nudge to see that. There were definitely some great moments, especially that end scene with the time capsule, between them.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ace. Dex and Gianna were marvelous characters. Genuine, likeable, driven and passionate. Their end goal, making the world a better place, is the same. How they go about it could not be more opposite. Best friends since childhood, their adult selves are keeping them apart. They have yet to find a compromise on how to blend lives and goals. It takes getting caught in the middle of an international incident to finally make them see what’s important…each other.
What’s not to like in this new series? It has action, flying like Top Gun, rescues & of course, LOVE! I think it’s very good. I look forward to the next one. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
Sophia Summers met all my expectations when I pick up a book by her. I expect strong characters, both male and female, humor, romance and a story line that keeps you reading even after you intended to stop. Dex/Ace and Gianna/Blaze are over achievers from over achiever families. They will do well whether they are training pilots or building in remote villages. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I’m pretty excited about this new Fighter Pilot Romance series and Sophia Summers did a great job kicking things off. Each book will be by a different author which should be so much fun!
I think this author had a difficult task of giving us the foundation for all the characters to come in this series and she did it really well. I didn’t feel too overwhelmed by all the characters (and there were a LOT of them!) and I felt like I had a good base for future character development by the next authors.
Dex and Gianna have history. They have known each other for a long time and loved each other almost as long. I really love a good second chance at first love story and this one definitely hit that sweet spot. Dex and Gianna are both strong and brave. They are what I would call the “doers” of the world. They are out in the trenches, making things happen. Their jobs aren’t easy but they both find immense satisfaction in what they do.
I loved the strong connection between Dex and Gianna. They have chemistry and respect for each other. That’s a great combination. I loved the elements of danger and action surrounding Dex and Gianna because it kept things exciting and moving forward at a fast pace. This book had a definite Top Gun feel to it and it makes me excited to see where the next books in this series take me.
Content: mild violence, peril, kissing
A great beginning to a new series! I loved that Gianna and Dex were childhood friends and then sweethearts, and the added mix of having their dads involved in their careers. Both of them are passionate about doing the right thing; it just takes them a while to figure out that they can do it together.
If you liked Top Gun, you’ll love this clean, fast-paced romance starring fun and honorable fighter pilot instructors.
I received a free copy, and this is an honest review.
I have been on the lookout for great books that help me escape the four walls of my home and the craziness going on in the world. This one helped me do just that. It has far off places, danger, adventure, and excitement. All mixed in with great characters.
Dex Callison is one of the founders of Top Flight. A group of pilots training others to fly. His call sign is Ace, and that’s what most people call him. I liked the way Ace didn’t want to give up flying, that was his whole purpose for founding Top Flight. And he works hard to make it work. He’s a pretty impulsive guy. He jumps into danger with no thought to what will happen to him when he falls. Or to anyone else who finds him.
Luckily, he’s found by kind natives and Gianna West. Gi is in a bit of a tight spot herself when she finds Dex. And the two of them have history, and chemistry. I thought it was kind of funny how their families were. Dex’s family seemed to favor Gianna. And her family favored Dex a bit.
I loved the flying scenes in this one. They were full of danger. I could almost see myself in the cockpit of a plane being chased by bogeys.
This one does remind me a bit of Top Gun and that’s not a bad thing. I really enjoyed everything about it!
I was sent an e-copy of Ace: A Fighter Pilot Romance as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

Loved this first book in this new series! I loved how the main characters have been best friends forever but how, due to a misunderstanding, they drift apart only to eventually come back together. I love how they have to learn to work through their misunderstanding to realize that they have the same goal in mind even if they may go about it in different ways. I love how they never stopped loving each other and I loved the final scene in the final chapter! It was so cute! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series!
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
