Having read a couple of this author’s novels in a different flair I wanted to try it in MC. The characters grab you right away with their story. Erin will find a different road than the one she thought of when truth comes out. As it happens in the MC world there are those you gravitate towards and Ace is the one in this that will be front and center. Even though she is pres daughter that makes no difference when you have your own mind. Filled with heat and passion that will stir the emotions with not letting up you will be caught in this opener for this series.
When Erin Dawson stumbles across her birth certificate she realizes that the life that she has lead for the last twenty years has been a lie, the man she has believed to be her father, is a replacement for her biological father. Her mother made a decision twenty years ago to keep her real father out of the picture and while that fact may sting, it also leaves her curious about the man who created her, so she sets out on a journey to find him. When she arrives at the Cursed Ravens clubhouse she instantly feels out of her element, the men look are looking at her like she is their next meal, and the women scowl at her because she is wandering into their territory. Within minutes she is circled by several big brooding bikers wanting to stake a claim on her, but before one of them has a chance to she gets whisked away by a devastatingly handsome man named Ace. Little does she know this one little encounter is about to give her everything she is after… and so much more!
There is so much to love about Ace Of Hearts, I am a sucker for biker romances, and this one spoke volumes to me, it was rich with emotion, had a little suspense to keep me intrigued, and some serious heat to curl the toes!! Within minutes of starting of it I found myself growing quite attached to the main character Erin, she was fearless, feisty, and knew how to keep the men around her on their toes at all times… the girl was downright inspiring! Then Ace came crashing into her world, and not only did the man steal her heart, but he stole mine too, he had an unexpected soft side that really sealed the deal for me. I also loved meeting all the secondary characters, I have my eye on a few of them, and cannot wait to get my hands on their stories, and get up close and personal with them! I highly recommend you take a chance on this one, it’s a well crafted tale that will speak to heart and leave thoroughly satisfied!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
I love how Ms. Fernando doesn’t write your typical MC book. She is a new author to me and I will be reading more from her in the future. Erin is for a big surprise when she learns the man who has been raising her for 20+ years is not her biological father. Her mother and “father” lied to her and she goes to seek her real father, she is for a shocker. He is not just a biker (she knows he is in a motorcycle club from her mother) but he is the President of the club. Ace is the Treasurer of the club and she has an instant connection to him. Her father warns all of his men away from Erin but that stops Ace to an extent. She is the Raven’s Princess after all. A misunderstanding leads to Erin going home only to have Gage, her father, and Ace following. Will they be able to bring her back? Will she want to risk her heart and her health to come back?
I can’t wait for the next installment of this series. I highly recommend this!
3.5 Stars
“People spend their whole lives looking to connect with someone. To feel that pull, that tether, and to be understood. To be loved. He might be a big tough biker, but he can’t pretend that he’s different from the rest of us.”
When I first heard about Ace of Hearts, I was over the moon. I was ridiculously excited. I’m a huge fan of Chantal Fernando’s Wind Dragon MC Series, so I couldn’t wait to dive into this one. Ace of Hearts hits the ground running and had me totally captivated. My first impressions of Erin was she was one badass, ballsy chick. She had no fear when it came to confronting the father she never knew about. Suddenly Erin finds herself immersed in a world that she never knew existed and has the caught the eye of Ace. Ace is rugged, sexy and everything Erin should stay away from. But, the pull between these two is instant and wild horses couldn’t keep these two away from one another. Will Ace and Erin pursue their connection despite her father’s warnings? Will Erin be tough enough to handle the biker world?? There’s only one way to find out…
Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. It’s kind of hard for me to review because there were so many wonderful parts that I just loved and wanted more of. And then there were parts that were just rough. Let’s start with the good: I loved the characters. They were everything I wanted and then some. They were bikers with a heart of gold. You could tell they were badass when they needed to be, but also had really big hearts. I loved Ace. He was real with Erin and didn’t play games. He was sexy and swoon worthy; the total package. And Erin, I really loved her fearlessness. She had balls and was tough. I could definitely see her fitting in well with the MC world. Together, I thought Ace and Erin made a good match. Their chemistry was instant and smokin hot. The tension between the two of them was definitely palpable and made you want to see more of their story.
What didn’t work: At times the story felt a little rough, like it needed to be developed a little more. I felt like the the intensity of the MC world was dumbed down at times for Erin and I would have liked to see it be a little more real. There were definitely some moments that felt a little cheesy to me. Also, I wish there had been a little more consistency with Erin. For most of the story, she is portrayed as this strong, badass daughter of the MC president. However, there were moments where she appeared bratty, weak even. I wanted to roll my eyes at some of her behavior.
So, while this book isn’t a 100% slam dunk for me, I do think that this series has a lot of potential. For me, there were some elements that worked and others that didn’t. And while I didn’t love it, I still had a good time reading this book. Like I said there is a ton of potential here and in the end, the characters won me over and had me wanting to know more. I’m curious to see where this series will go next and would be open to reading more from it in the future.
This is the first installment of a New MC series coming from this talented author, and i can assure you, it most definitely does not disappoint.
Erin is such a cool chick, speaks her mind, and takes no bull, after learning that the man who raised her isn’t her real father, she is determined to track down the man her mother kept a secret from her.
Well what can i say? What a secret !!!!
Her real father is none other than the freaking President of MC Club, The Cursed Ravens. Coming from a typical picket fence and 2.1 kid family, Erin wonders if she could cope with a Biker or Bikers life. After storming into the clubhouse during a party, the first person who catches her eye is a hot sexy biker by the name of Ace and demands to see her father. Both Men are shocked, her father had also been kept in the dark about her existence, and Ace, well damn the club has a new Princess and she is out of bounds !!!!
I loved this book, i couldn’t get enough. Erin had me in fits of laughter, with her attitudes, humour and a tongue with no filter !!! Ace was just goddamned hot sexy and a man that leaves you in a pool of drool!!! But i loved how Erin grew into club life, how the hesitant relationship between her and her new found father developed, and at the same time the burning attraction between Erin and Ace, was building to combust!! Ace even though a biker has strong Loyalties to his Pres and club, and is torn with his attraction to Erin, and i was left with a melted heart. It all felt so natural and real that you just can’t help but get caught up in each and every page. Life or Love is never easy, but when you find the right people it sure makes everything more colorful. I can’t wait for more of this series and dive in to learn more of my now new fave MC CLUB !!!!!
My first read for Fernando, the newest Cursed Ravens tale starts out with lies, deceit, and one sexy biker. After finding out that the man she believed to be her father is in fact not her biological father, Erin goes in search of the elusive biker from her mother’s past. Met with the sexiest man she’s ever seen and rules of a club she doesn’t understand, Erin is thrown into a world so unlike her quiet small town. And it’s about to get crazier…
As Erin and her father navigate their new relationship, she also begins to develop feelings for the club’s ladies man & treasurer, Ace. He’s been sticking to her side and fighting an attraction himself. As he pushes the limits of club rules Erin has to decide between futures: small town life or the life of an old lady within the Cursed Ravens. As if figuring out two new relationships isn’t hard enough, someone in the club is set on taking Erin out for good. Danger, suspense, and some crazy bikers lead to a not so boring romance that is wild from the get go.
I immediately fell for our hero in this book. Ace is cocksure and has that half-smile that can make a girl sweat. But throughout the book he gets a bit stalker-y and controlling for my tastes. Not to mention that Erin ( a heroine who’s name we weren’t told right away and then suddenly another character knew it!) seems to flip flop on how she feels at the drop of a hat. Where the beginning of this story is quick, there’s a sudden change in timeline and I believe weeks went by but hadn’t been sure of it; threw me off a little bit. I think if this story had a bit more time to let the characters’ relationships really solidify I’d feel it was a bit more believable. That being said, it’s a fun read that I still want to know more about our fellow bikers in the club. If biker romances are your deal, that danger and desire mixed with badass-ery, then this series is a definite afternoon pick me up!
Ace of Hearts is the standalone first book to a new MC series. Ace of Hearts pulled me in and was an exciting read.
Erin makes her way to the Cursed Raven’s MC clubhouse when her life flips because she found out her biological father isn’t the man she’s called “Dad” her entire life. When she meets Gage and his men, her life changes as she begins to fit in with the family she never had. Ace was intriguing from the start, he was so sweet with Erin. I wish his character was fleshed out a bit more, I wanted to know everything about him. Ace of Hearts is the story of Erin and Ace, but also the story of Erin and Gage, as they each work to get to know each other.
Overall, this was a great start to a series I’m excited to read more from. The men around the clubhouse were all interesting and have the potential to be great heroes. Ace of Hearts was evenly paced and well written. The plot was a bit predictable at times, but surprising in others. I would recommend to the reader looking for a an exciting MC to get lost in.
The princess has arrived. This is the start of another great MC series by an author who knows how to incorporate humor, suspense, and lust into a book that you can’t put down. Erin is a person with a great sense of humor which will give you laugh out loud moments. Ace is a man that all the women want.
Erin bravely walks into the Cursed Ravens MC clubhouse and stuns them all by giving them their Prez’s full legal name and tells them that she needs to see him. All of a sudden the flirtatious air of the men surrounding her turns into something full of animosity and suspicions. She has come to introduce herself to a father that never knew she existed. It shocked her as well to know that the man who raised her was not her biological father and her birth father was a president of the Cursed Ravens MC.
I am excited for this new series because we are given characters that will touch your heart just like Ace, Erin and Gage have done in this book. Be ready for suspense and chemistry that we can only hope for.
I really enjoyed this entertaining and engaging MC romance. I thought Erin and Ace were perfect together. She is feisty, strong and courageous. Ace is loyal, protective and an alpha male. Loved the attraction, chemistry and deep emotions that that sparked between these two. Add in some drama, suspense, humor and passion and you have a very pleasurable reading experience. I am posting an honest, voluntary review.
A brand new series by the author of one of my favorite series, The Wind Dragons MC (the one that got me hooked on MC romance, to begin with!) I really didn’t think it could get better, but I really loved this book! Ace and Erin were pretty awesome!
Erin is a 21 year old girl, who just found out that the man she was brought up thinking was her dad, really isn’t. She makes the decision to find her biological father, and introduce herself, since he was never told of her existence. On her arrival, she finds not only a dad who wants to be part of her life, but a whole new family. She also finds Ace, who she is immediately attracted to.
Ace is a member of The Cursed Raven’s MC, along with Erin’s dad (who is the president). He’s pretty typical of MC members, a tough, hard riding, free living man. He also has an immediate attraction to Erin, but as the president’s daughter, she is forbidden to him. Even so, he sticks pretty close to her side from then on.
This book was a fun read, full of laughs, but there were also some pretty serious moments too. There was plenty to keep me interested, and I never knew what was coming next. It was a great introduction to the Cursed Ravens MC, and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next!
4 Stars
Ace of Hearts is the first title in the Cursed Ravens MC. I’m a huge fan of Ms Fernando’s Wind Dragons MC Series, so I was incredibly eager to enter into this new MC world.
I adored the heroine Erin, she’s strong, independent, and dedicated, with goals that she is intent to fulfil. I loved her loyal, feisty and sassy nature.
Ace is a member of the Cursed Ravens MC. Erin is inexplicably drawn to him, despite the fact her father has ruled her off limits to the members of the MC.
This story has intrigue, suspense and lies, that is seamlessly blended with heat, heart and humor that will keep you completely enthralled.
Although this story isn’t as gritty as some MC titles, the characters are captivating and colorful and I look forward to more of this series. For anyone who is a fan of the WDMC series, you will notice a connection within the story line, that I look forward to seeing evolve.
Ace of Hearts is the first installment of The Cursed Ravens MC
Chantal is know to deliver a great MC read and she didn’t disappoint.
Erin Dawson has lived a lie her whole life. The person she’s called Daddy since birth turns out not to be her biological father.
On the search for her biological father she ends up at the Cursed Ravens club house. Things really start to get really interesting. Erin becomes the Raven’s princess, but that doesnt come without a price.
While trying to adjust to this new life shes been exposed to she is confronted with a few challenges that will either make her run back to her boring life before meeting her father and the Cursed Ravens or she will stand tall and fight.
I love all the characters in the Cursed Ravens. Ace oh my how I was drooling over him. They are a bunch of sexy Alphas who can be comical but fierce when it comes to protecting those they love.
Great read
3.75 stars–ACE OF HEARTS is the first instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult THE CURSED RAVENS MC erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of The Cursed Ravens MC. This is twenty-eight year old MC treasurer Carson ‘Ace’ Kendrick, and twenty-one year old nursing student Erin Dawson’s story line. The Cursed Ravens MC is a spin off from the author’s Wind Dragon MC series and advances the new series arc several years.
Told from first person point of view (Erin Dawson) ACE OF HEARTS follows Erin Dawson as she goes in search of her biological father. Always believing the man that raised her was her father, Erin Dawson soon discovers her original birth certificate naming someone else-Gage Liam Parker-the president of the Cursed Ravens MC. Determined to discover the truth, and meet the man who donated half of her DNA, Erin sets out to find the Cursed Ravens MC. Enter club treasurer Carson ‘Ace’ Kendrick, and the man with whom Erin will fall in love. What ensues is the ‘forbidden’ romance between Erin and Ace, and the potential fall-out as Erin is targeted by someone in the Cursed Ravens MC.
ACE OF HEARTS introduces the players and characters within the Cursed Ravens MC. From the over protective father-figure and president Gage Parker, to the smooth croonings of Rogue,Erin’s new bestie Knuckles, Gage’s girlfriend Veronica, and bartender Dreads. From the outset Erin is welcomed as one of their own but someone is obviously not happy as she is targeted not once, but twice in an attempt to end her life. Erin’s new college roommate is Clover Black-the daughter of Sin and Faye (Wind Dragons MC).
Chantal Fernando pulls the reader into the world of the motorcycle club but most of the work and happenings of the MC takes place behind the scenes. The premise is flirty; the romance is provocative and passionate; the characters are colorful, charismatic and fun. ACE OF HEARTS is a bit of a vanilla story line as it pertains to the Cursed Ravens MC. I am hoping for a more ‘palpable and intense’ look at everything MC.
MC romances aren’t something I read a lot of, but after reading the blurb for this one, I had to check it out. The father and daughter finding each other and building a relationship trope gets me every time, on a personal level. Take away the MC part and I could be Erin. With that in mind, I was impressed with the way that part of the story was handled. The relationship between Erin and her father wasn’t perfect by any means, but the feelings that grew between them as they fumbled and made mistakes felt quite real.
The MC side of the story is pretty mild in comparison to the few that I’ve read. We don’t see the violence that is so common in the genre, and while business is mentioned, we don’t get the details of that side of things. Granted, these guys are crude, alpha males, but we also see a great camaraderie between them as they joke and carry on with each other and with Erin. Of course, Erin has an immediate shared attraction with one of the club members, which is no-no for her father, but as this is essentially a romance, we know going in that nothing is going to keep this pair apart. Ace and Erin do have terrific chemistry and once they heat up, they’re hot enough to peel the paint from the walls.
In addition to the touching father/daughter relationship and a scorching hot romance, there’s also a bit of suspense as those closest to Erin try to figure out who is trying to take her out of the picture, and we also get some wit and humor along the way.
On the whole, Ace of Hearts is a solid start to the series and I look forward to whatever’s next for this great group of characters.
ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review
I have said in the past that I am pretty over the MC genre – with the exception of just a couple of authors. And Ms Fernando is one that I will always pick up and read.
I have missed the Wind Dragons MC , and am excited for the new Cursed Ravens MC series.
Erin is the ballsy young woman who walks into the Cursed Ravens club house and turns everything upside down and inside out when she asks to meet her biological father.
Everything she has ever known about her family has been a lie, and now she is trying to create a new, additional family.
I adored those bikers, especially Ace, Gage and Knuckles. I love how they turn to putty in her hands as she worms her way into their club – and their hearts.
And Ace is all kinds of swoonworthy. You can’t help but fall for him as the story progresses.
Lies, secrets, and a bit of mystery thrown in, Ace Of Hearts has a bit of everything.
Ooooh and there is an appearance by someone fromthe WDMC that made me smile large.
I really enjoyed Ace Of Hearts and read it in one night. I can’t wait for more Cursed Ravens!
Loved this MC Romance. The author has given us a wonderful storyline and characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. They are sassy, funny, strong-willed, determined and protective.
Erin has just learned the man she has always known as her Dad isn’t her biological father. Determined to learn about her real father she takes off for the Cursed Raven MC. She soon learns that her Dad is President is the MC, which in turn makes her the club’s Princess and off limits. A fact that Ace struggles with as he is instantly drawn to the sexy Erin and her to him from the moment their eyes meet.
As Erin begins to learn about her father and MC life, she soon finds herself in danger. While her dad, Ace and the club’s VPs try to keep her safe, secrets come out and trusts are broken. Will Erin go back to the life she’s always known and leave her Dad, Ace and the Cursed Ravens behind? Will she be safe even if she leaves? Erin is a strong willed girl and doesn’t take crap from anyone. Will that be her downfall or give her strength to endure?
This is a fantastic start to a new MC series and this reader is extremely excited about this book as well as book 2 “Knuckles”. I Highly Recommend Reading Ace of Hearts, you won’t regret it. 2 Thumbs Up!!!
I love these worlds that Ms. Fernando has created (both the Wind Dragons and now the Cursed Ravens). Oh, Ace is a dream. A very fast paced story that pulls you in and will not let go until you finish it. I loved how Erin is a no-nonsense, speak your mind kind of girl. The clubhouse does not phase her nor does her father and his “family”. The tension between Ace and Erin is intense. Her relationship with her real dad is cut with a knife thick. I loved how Erin and Gage’s relationship developed over the story. Not everything can be roses. Yeah, I loved this story and look forward to the remaining characters getting their own happy endings. I do not see one planned for Gage yet but here is hoping. The only drawback for me…it was too short!!!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
I received a copy of Ace of Hearts from the publisher, Pocket Star, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. As always, the following review contains my opinions and mine alone.
One of my guilty reading pleasures is definitely a quality biker romance. But I have to search high and low for the good stuff, not the abusive, cheating, drug addict biker erotica posing as romances but the bad boy with the teeny bit of good buried deep down under all the gruff and foul language. It’s even better if the female lead isn’t a simpering idiot or a classic definition of Daddy Issues. I managed to stumble across the Ace of Hearts digital review copy on NetGalley and thought I’d see if maybe it checked off all my biker romance checklist items. For the most part, it did.
The Leading Lady isn’t a DiD. If you’re looking for a damsel-in-distress romance, this is not the book for you. Erin is sassy, she doesn’t hide from her problems, she faces them head on. Erin is also pretty smart, she’s headed off to college in a short while to become a nurse and she’s determined not to let anything mess with her education. You go, girl! Erin’s also got it down that she needs to deal with things like an adult and compromise with others.
Our Main Man is quality material. He understands boundaries and, when given several different opportunities to have sex with other women, he doesn’t. Even before he’s actually in any sort of relationship with Erin, he’s quick to say “no, thanks” to any interested parties. While he’s torn between loyalty to his MC President and his interest in the newly found MC Princess, he tries to walk that fine line between respecting his Prez and loving his woman. When Ace messes up, he fesses up to his mistakes. There is one instance where I want to reach into the book and bop him on the back of the head Gibbs-Style.
Ace decided to practise unsafe sex without talking to Erin first. Dude. No. That’s never okay. The only good sex is the consensual sort – and that includes checking that your partner is on board with ditching the condom.
Ace of Hearts has a bit of mystery to it, some of it is glaringly obvious and other parts are a heartwrenching surprise. I’m not posting any spoilers, I’m not one of those people, but when Erin is poisoned at her Welcome to the Family party, I had it figured out lickety-split and couldn’t fathom why nobody in the story could figure it out. Also, dang, Erin. Follow Party Rule #1 – unopened beverages only! (Rule #2 is an addendum, if your drink is left unattended or out of your eyeline for a second, GET A NEW ONE!).
Erin’s reunion with her father is pretty much what every daughter with daddy issues dreams of. I’m not envious over it, really. I lied. I’m totally envious, I look great in green. But that’s supposed to get fixed in therapy eventually so moving on. As someone who struggles on the daily to balance a dad, a mum, and a stepmum, I know where Erin’s coming from in her tortured confusion of how to not end up hurting any of the parentals and still have all 3 in my life. I suck at it but, again, I have daddy issues. But Erin just puts it out there that this is how it’s going to be and everybody needs to deal with it. Of course, Erin has parentals that tolerate each other, so I AM JEALOUS.
I loved meeting the different members of the Cursed Ravens MC. They’re so eclectic, from Mac the lovable hippie (who doesn’t love hippies?) to the crude Shack (I hope he turns out not to be as douche-y as he seems in AoH), to Rogue the Rock God and Knuckles the best friend a girl could ever have. Seriously, where can I find a Knuckles – I need a best friend!
I spent a couple of hours reading Ace of Hearts and I read it in one sitting. It’s definitely a book I’ll keep around for bookslump reading. It’s easy to read and doesn’t make me think. That’s not a bad thing. I tend to overload from never stopping with the thinking. Ace of Hearts let me read but I didn’t need a glossary or an appendix or a map or a character sheet like a lot of books today. It just let me read.
I was left wondering a few things and I’m hoping Book 2 clears those up but I really wish they’d all been cleared up before I finished Ace of Hearts. Mostly, Who the glarb is Clover?! It’s been bugging me since I read Ace of Hearts four days ago! I need closure here!
My favourite part would have to be when Erin broke a certain person’s nose and settled the person’s issue with her finally. It surprised everybody that she did it because Erin’s not a violent sort but she got herself out of the situation without relying on anybody else to help her out of it.
Overall, I’m giving Ace of Hearts a 4 out of 5 stars. I really liked reading it, I look forward to Book 2, but some things were left hanging in the wind and other things (no spoilers) left me confused. As for the heat rating, let’s go with a 4. Things get spicy and descriptive. They’re easily skipped though so it doesn’t detract from the story if you flip a page or two past the naughty
I love EVERYTHING Chantal Fernando! I was a little nervous when I first received this story. I love Chantal’s other MC series, so I was worried that this one would either be a disappointment or too much like it. I WAS SO WRONG! WOW!!
This is one of my favorite books of 2018! Erin and Ace were perfect! I love everything about this book! The characters are well written in a story that just flows. I couldn’t NOT put this one down. I started this right before I was going to bed one night – I wasn’t prepared to be sucked in like I was. FIVE STARS are not enough!!
**I received a copy of Ace of Hearts from Net Galley in exchange for an voluntary and honest review**
Ace of Hearts by Chantal Fernando is the first book of her new Cursed Ravens MC series. What a fantastic start it is and I LOVED it! Bravo Ms. Fernando welcome back to writing MC Romance again.
Erin Dawson is determined to find her biological father when she finds her birth certificate and confronts her mother. So determined not to go into this blind she researches MC clubs online and takes a bus for 4 hours to the city. But when the taxi drops her off at the clubhouse the first person she sees is Ace. After meeting her father, Gage (also the president) each and everyone of the members of The Cursed Ravens will soon fall in love with the feisty Erin including Ace. Except for one person who wants her dead and will do anything to make sure she doesn’t stay.
Ace (Carson Kendrick) loves the Ravens they are his family but when he first meets Erin it will become very hard to be hands off like he promised her dad. Within two weeks he’ll be teaching how to ride and hopefully convince her to stay instead of going back home. But when she ends up in the hospital twice and then finds out her father Gage will do anything to get her stay. When Erin finds out she runs back to home but Ace, Gage and Knuckles will try to fix their error by coming to her home. Will they figure out who is trying to kill her and Ace finally tell Erin how much she means to him?
Read carefully there will be a minor character show up from Wind Dragon’s that will surprise you.
