Is she the answer to his dreams…or the person who will be forced to destroy them? He’s a farmer, dammit, not a bookkeeperWhen Stetson Miller inherits his father’s farm in Idaho, he’s too focused on crops and yields to pay attention to the financial side of things. The next thing he knows, he’s got a stack of unpaid bills, the bank is threatening to foreclose…and the auditor who’s come to examine … auditor who’s come to examine his accounts is the sexiest thing he’s ever laid eyes on.
But she’s a city girl, just like the last one who left him at the altar. He’ll guard his heart – but he can’t help wanting her.
She’s checking him out…in more ways than one
Jennifer Kendall doesn’t mind a tough job, but the handsome Stetson is trouble of a different kind. When he isn’t making her mad, he’s filling her head with all sorts of forbidden fantasies.
The sparks between them fly even faster when the road washes out and Jennifer has to spend the night on the farm. But passion alone won’t pay the bills. Can Jennifer find a way for Stetson to save his farm?
And if she can’t, will he ever forgive her?
Accounting for Love is the first novel in the Long Valley world, although all books in the Long Valley world can be read as standalones. It has some strong language, and oh my, sexy times. Enjoy!

In March of 2018, this book was rewritten, reimagined, redone, and every other re-word you can imagine, all based on the original version that was released in October of 2016. I hope you love this reworked version as much as I do. ~Erin Wright

Stetson Miller inherited his father’s farm, but he hadn’t kept up with the bills and the farm is in trouble. He can’t ask his brother’s for help and admit he messed up. The bank gave him 30 days to pay on his balloon loan and the time was up. The bank is sending someone out to go over his books. Jennifer Kendall is the auditor that shows up at the farm. Stetson is not very nice to her and his housekeeper Carmelita reads him the riot act! Jennifer is there to try and find something he can do to save his farm.
I loved this book, and especially loved Carmelita. Stetson was the youngest of the three brothers. His oldest brother Wyatt and he did not get along at all. Stetson had been very close to his father and was doing his best to keep the farm going. It hadn’t helped when he had to pay off his dad’s chemo bills. He would have done anything for his father. I enjoyed watching Stetson and Jennifer fall in love. Stetson first seemed so inconsiderate, but after being around Jennifer you could see a nice change in him. Jennifer’s self esteem had been shot to pieces by her ex fiancé. For some reason the ex was trying to get her back. That was fun to watch how that turned out. I strongly encourage you to read the book.
ACCOUNTING FOR LOVE is a standalone read with a HEA. Stetson, a young farmer finds his homestead in jeopardy after he discovers a balloon note is due for almost $200,000. After paying his father’s cancer treatment fees and his funeral expenses, there is no money left. He has no idea what he will do if he loses his farm.
The bank sends an auditor to check all his books and see if they can foreclose. Of course Stetson is angry and upset and he blames the bank for trying to steal his farm. The farm has been in his family for generations and he will be the one to lose it. So, he takes out all his anger on the young woman the bank has sent to get his books in order. Jennifer truly wants to help him find a way to save his farm but his attitude has turned her off to her client.
These two discover their attraction to each other and things take a turn for the better in Stetson’s personal life. His farm is still in danger of being sold to developers. It is a bit steamy so may not be for sensitive readers. The story is set in Idaho in a very small town. There are a few side characters but mostly it is just the romantic journey that Stetson and Jennifer travel to find their HEA.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 10/5/18
I read the original book which enjoyed very much. When the reworked book came out I bought it. I couldn’t believe that she would be able to improve on the first one. Although there were small changes. It still is an entertaining book. Well worth trying.
This is a wonderful read. The sizzle that develops between Stetson and Jennifer is a hint at what’s to come. Stetson doesn’t want to be attracted to the woman he thinks is trying to take his property but he can’t control his feelings. Jennifer Just wants to do her job but can’t help trying to find a way to help the Cowboy. There’s love and laughter it’s hard to put the book down! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy western romance. The rewrite is as enjoyable, if not more so, than the original.
Stetson Miller inherits his father’s farm in Idaho after his dad died a year ago but he has put his work into the crops and has overlooked the financial side of things, now the bank is sending an auditor to examine his accounts. Jennifer Kendall has come to try and save his ranch instead of putting it into forecloser, but the sparks fly between these two from the minute Jennifer walks in the door. Will Stetson listen to Jennifer or will he lose the farm? Will they get a happy ending?.
I loved reading Stetson and Jennifer’s story! Combining a farmer proud of his heritage and a city girl just trying to do her job, and sparks are going to fly! This is a book I couldn’t put down, so plan on a nap! Highly recommend it!
Two people, Jennifer and Stetson could not be more unlikely. She is from the city and he is in the country. She is an accountant and he’s a farmer. And yet, sparks fly between them. As Jennifer and Stetson’s feelings grow deeper for each other, an innocent question could put an end to everything.
This is a feel good, down to Earth, make you feel warm on the inside romance that you will enjoy.
This is a lovely romance. My strong woman is here. Instead of leaving she helps the farmer.
Loved it! Sweet and a keeper
A story build up by not many characters. So easy to keep up with who’s who – but the high number of inner monologues were a bit to much for my liking. But that doesn’t change the fact that there is development of the story and the characters as well.
Stetson Miller looked around at the extensive clutter in his deceased father’s office. He need to get this organized if he intended to save the farm! He had been given 31 days to bring the loan current or the bank would foreclose. Mumbling about what he would do to the low-down banker/thief who was coming, he ignored his housekeeper’s throat-clearing and finally turned around. Behind her was a woman sent by the bank, so he verbally attacked her too for her cowardly boss not coming here himself! In anger, he gave her a list of requirements on how this audit would be done, the hours, one sandwich for lunch, etc. He made it plain she was not getting any hospitality. He was so rude that Carmelita, the housekeeper, made it a point to reprimand him that evening.
Jennifer Kendall began organizing the mass of papers into something that made sense as she began her audit. Stetson continued to be brusque, although Carmelita’s words helped a great deal. Jennifer asked him about the large amounts of money going into his personal checking account, and he told her it was to pay for his father’s chemo. The last treatment was why he didn’t have the money to make the loan payment. He ran out of the office, angry with himself for revealing so much to her. But it made Jennifer resolve to find a way to save his farm!
At the end of the day, her boss called her, angry that she didn’t have a recommendation yet. He wanted that foreclosure to happen! He screamed that the Board wanted options – was foreclosure still an option? She responded, “Foreclosure is always an option,” just as Stetson stepped up on the porch and heard her! Devastated and angry, he stormed past her and even yelled at Carmelita. In tears and lost in strong emotions, Jennifer ran to her car and – as she sped off in the blinding rain and slick mud – she didn’t feel how her little car was sliding recklessly. Then she completely lost control as she went off the road!
This book is a rewrite of the original story of the same name. The author did a fine job fleshing it out and matching it to her current writing style. The characters were very realistic and believable. Stetson had a great deal of pressure on him to be successful as the youngest of three sons. He didn’t want to go to his brothers for help, but he had been funding his dad’s treatments and could not stay on top of his current loan payment. His failure angered him and he took it out on Jennifer. The bank wanted the land for its own purposes and was pushing for foreclosure. Fortunately, Jennifer is an honest, caring person who is good at her job. She wants to find a way to make things right. But is what she finds enough to save the farm? The reader will enjoy following this story line with its twists and turns. Don’t miss this one!!
When Jennifer shows up at Stetsons farm she is greeted with hostility and even though she expects some this is downright rude. Jennifer has been sent there by the bank to do an audit to try and save the farm from defaulting on the loan.
Stetson is beyond mad at Jennifer even though he knows it’s not her fault but he just can’t lose his fathers farm. Carmelita the house keeper since he was a little boy reminds him to not be so rude and gradually he begins to warm up to Jennifer. Stetson has always felt inferior to his brothers and if he loses the farm it will be a nail in his coffin.
Jennifer is trying desperately to find something to save the farm even though Greg her boss is hounding her. She is trying to be professional and not be tempted by Stetson but she can’t help it. Stetson and Jennifer have a lot of baggage from their past and to read how they try and work it out is entertaining.
Loved this book so much had to read the others like it. It was a fun read with colorful, stubborn, fun characters.
Stetson was a bit of a moody guy but it was a good story…
Thank goodness I didn’t pay for this book. The plot was weak and I really didn’t care about either main character. I did give it an extra star for the housekeeper Carmelita. She was sassy, but not enough to compel me to finish that last third of the book.
Predictable, but a very sweet read. I enjoyed it.
This was a very easy read. Cute story though.
I really enjoy westerns they are wholesome and the are always delightful.
Easy, fun, quick read about 2 people that fall in love unexpectedly.
Greta reading – loved the story line and the characters!
