Is she the answer to his dreams…or the person who will be forced to destroy them? He’s a farmer, dammit, not a bookkeeperWhen Stetson Miller inherits his father’s farm in Idaho, he’s too focused on crops and yields to pay attention to the financial side of things. The next thing he knows, he’s got a stack of unpaid bills, the bank is threatening to foreclose…and the auditor who’s come to examine … auditor who’s come to examine his accounts is the sexiest thing he’s ever laid eyes on.
But she’s a city girl, just like the last one who left him at the altar. He’ll guard his heart – but he can’t help wanting her.
She’s checking him out…in more ways than one
Jennifer Kendall doesn’t mind a tough job, but the handsome Stetson is trouble of a different kind. When he isn’t making her mad, he’s filling her head with all sorts of forbidden fantasies.
The sparks between them fly even faster when the road washes out and Jennifer has to spend the night on the farm. But passion alone won’t pay the bills. Can Jennifer find a way for Stetson to save his farm?
And if she can’t, will he ever forgive her?
Accounting for Love is the first novel in the Long Valley world, although all books in the Long Valley world can be read as standalones. It has some strong language, and oh my, sexy times. Enjoy!

In March of 2018, this book was rewritten, reimagined, redone, and every other re-word you can imagine, all based on the original version that was released in October of 2016. I hope you love this reworked version as much as I do. ~Erin Wright

I had to skip over a lot of steamy parts.
I thought I recognized the story by the description, but could not find it in my read books list. Then it said it was a major rewrite, so I read it again. Apparently, this is the version I had read before and I cannot explain why it doesn’t show as reviewed already.
Much as a liked Jennifer and her issues; loved Carmelita; I detested Stetson and his relationship with his brothers. My negative feelings for him were too strong for me to ever get past them and hope for a relationship between him and Jennifer. I did end up mostly skimming the sex scenes. I struggled with her not knowing about the wheat. Better would have been for the antique equipment to have value.
Rancher Stetson can’t belief that Jennifer, the accountant sent by the bank is really trying to help him save the ranch. He eventually figures that out, and they reach the happy ending.
Loved the twist at the end!
This was ok. I’m not sure how Jennifer continued to be so pleasant to Stetson with his attitude, even if it was her job. I’m not exactly sure how she could hear her completely rude and obnoxious boss.
Everything seemed to happen so fast. I don’t have a problem with instalove, but Stetson went from disliking Jennifer to jumping her bones in a matter of days. She was so joyously happy after that first night, it almost felt like it could have ended there. I know there had to be an angry part and had to wait it out.
I think I figured out what bothered me while writing this review. Was it just me or did it seem like the men in Jennifer’s life had a tendency to steamroll over her, or at least try to? I don’t know. It felt like something was missing in this book and I can’t put my finger on it.
Stetson and Jennifer got their HEA, but they never seemed to really have a relationship to get them there. This was a struggle to finish. The premise seemed good and it started out decently. Then it fell apart. The last couple of chapters were decent.
Great series I have read all the books in the series
Jennifer is an accountant who works for a bank conducting audits to investigate if people can pay for their loan after failing to pay their checks.
Stetson is a rancher and a farmer who fails from paying the check to the bank due to his father’s expenses during his illness. He just needs a little bit of time to fix everything.
Sometimes the pain we feel is so deep into us that we are not able to see the things we have in front of us. That’s is what happens to Stetson; he has the solution to his problem just right in front of his nose, but he is unable to see it.
I love Jennifer, so caring and professional trying to do her job even though Stetson gets into her nerves and at the same time, under her skin.
I love Carmelita. She is so cute and smart and caring. She can see things immediately while it took a long time for others to see the same things.
I like the way Erin writes and can’t wait to get started on the rest of her series. The characters were realistic and believable. In Accounting for Love it made you stop and think – don’t think the worst about people because of your pre-conceived thoughts of the position someone holds. There are good people out there.
Banks
Jennifer has to do an audit for the ranch because Stetson didn’t make this annual balloon payment. He thinks she is going to take his ranch. She wants him to keep it. But in doing this can they fight their attraction to each other.
Quick and easy read about a farm in trouble and the auditor that saves the day. Story is very sweet.
Fun and Enjoyable Romance, highly recommended!
I just finished reading Accounting for Love by Erin Wright. This is a contemporary, Western romance. Story is of an unlikely match between a bank auditor and farmer. There are a few spicy scenes and a lot of character iteration. Totally enjoyable romance reading! Hope to read more from Erin Wright.
I have read many books by Erin Wright and love each and every one! I particularly like books in a series, e.g., Accounting for Love because there are many that follow and I enjoy each one!
I originally bought this book because it was offered for free. I was instantly hooked and purchased the rest of the series. Erin Wright even offers a book from the series for free that is only available on her website. With each new release I reread starting with Accounting for Love because it is that good. 🙂
Stetson is a farmer and cattle rancher. He inherited the farm when his father died even though he wasn’t the oldest. He was his father’s favorite and had a contentious relationship with his brothers.
Stetson misses payments on his farm and the bank is doing an audit to see if they will forclose, or whether he has assets to save it. Stetson treats Jennifer the auditor very badly.
Eventually a romantic relationship develops between Stetson and Jennifer, with the help of Carmelita the housekeeper. Jennifer tries her hardest to try to save the farm. Will she come up with something? Will Stetson listen to her advice? What happens to their relationship?
I received an ARC of this book and I am giving an honest review.
This is book one in the Long Valley series and it features Stetson and Jennifer. He is a stubborn, stubborn man with way too much pride. He’s really mean to her at first, considering what she was there for, but he is nothing compared to her ex. I absolutely loved watching Jennifer’s transformation and seeing her stand up for herself.
This is a sweet and sizzling hot romance. The characters are great and the story line had good flow. The epilogue ended a little too abruptly though. I would have liked to experience Carmelita‘s reaction to what was happening. I’m looking forward to reading more of this series.
A very enjoyable read.
Fun and romantic, easy to read story about the city girl and the country guy. Pleasant way to spend an afternoon with well-written dialogue and steamy scenes.
Stetson has failed to make a payment on the inherited farm loan. The bank sends Jennifer to audit his accounts to determine if foreclosure is the next step. Throw in road blocks from his squabbling family and her butthead boss and it’s a fast-paced story with a satisfying HEA. Looking forward to more in the series.
I liked the contrast between the characters and the sizzling between them. Stubborn man trying to save his farm and the prissy city accountant trying to help if he lets her.
No one can write like Erin Wright. She never disappoints. This is a wonderful start to a series and I intend to read every one. I could not put it down until I was finished. The chemistry between Jennifer and Stetson was so Hot it almost burned the pages. This revamped version was better than the original. Highly recommend to everyone.
This was the first one I read of Erin Wright’s Long Valley series – Stetson definitely had some rough edges and major defenses. Loved Jennifer and how she tried to help him despite his not so nice attitude, and definitely enjoyed the blooming of their relationship.
Gave me the impetus to continue reading the series and I was not disappointed in the least.
