Is she the answer to his dreams…or the person who will be forced to destroy them? He’s a farmer, dammit, not a bookkeeperWhen Stetson Miller inherits his father’s farm in Idaho, he’s too focused on crops and yields to pay attention to the financial side of things. The next thing he knows, he’s got a stack of unpaid bills, the bank is threatening to foreclose…and the auditor who’s come to examine … auditor who’s come to examine his accounts is the sexiest thing he’s ever laid eyes on.
But she’s a city girl, just like the last one who left him at the altar. He’ll guard his heart – but he can’t help wanting her.
She’s checking him out…in more ways than one
Jennifer Kendall doesn’t mind a tough job, but the handsome Stetson is trouble of a different kind. When he isn’t making her mad, he’s filling her head with all sorts of forbidden fantasies.
The sparks between them fly even faster when the road washes out and Jennifer has to spend the night on the farm. But passion alone won’t pay the bills. Can Jennifer find a way for Stetson to save his farm?
And if she can’t, will he ever forgive her?
Accounting for Love is the first novel in the Long Valley world, although all books in the Long Valley world can be read as standalones. It has some strong language, and oh my, sexy times. Enjoy!

In March of 2018, this book was rewritten, reimagined, redone, and every other re-word you can imagine, all based on the original version that was released in October of 2016. I hope you love this reworked version as much as I do. ~Erin Wright

This was a great quick read – very well written. I enjoyed the twist of the female being the hero to the male main character. The characters had good chemisty and the story was well developed and flowed nicely. If you are looking for a sweet, western romance then this is the book for you – you won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to more from this author …
Second writing is better than first.
I loved the characters and the plot.
This rewrite seemed to hit the nail on the head.
I haven’t read a Erin Wright book that I haven’t loved
This was the first book I read by Erin but it won’t be my last. She is an excellent writer, I couldn’t put it down. I was drawn in from the begining to the end. Stetson was a pain in the butt and likeable too. And Jenny was just a sweetheart. They were meant to be. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I absolutely loved this story, it was intense, tender, but the ending was fabulous. This author knows how to pull at your heartstrings and it is so beautiful. A stubborn and prideful man meets a stubborn woman and they realize just what happens when they butt heads but they also learn how to give to each other and be happy once again since they both experienced tragedies in their lives. Instead of fighting everything, they relaxed finally and let nature take it course and let their hearts speak to them in a way they weren’t used to. But would it be enough for them to wade through the turmoil that surrounded them both, would they come out the other side happy, better off and willing to trust again, you will just have to read to see for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I also picked up a copy on Amazon. I am voluntarily reviewing this book.
I loved the first edition of this book. I really didn’t see why it needed a rewrite but after reading this version, I absolutely adore it. The characters are so realistic and wonderful. I just adore how Stetson and Jennifer came together. I was enthralled with their story from the beginning all over again. I really hated to see this book end. I am going to have to re-read the rest of the series now. I highly recommend this story to anyone. There are some really great scenes where you will be laughing very hard. It is something that we all need, laughter!!!
A delightful story, Accounting for Love draws the reader into the life and emotions of Stetson and Jennifer from the opening page. This is a revised edition of the book, and although it is more cohesive and believable, none of the electricity between the characters is lost, neither has the humour diminished one bit. One experiences Stetson’s deep frustration and his feelings of lack of worth, as well as Jennifer’s nervousness at being in a hostile situation whilst trying to please everyone. There are laugh aloud moments and some situations generate anger at the unfairness of the accusations being leveled. I especially laughed at the closing paragraphs and thoroughly enjoyed Stetson’s boyishness. The story would have been incomplete without Carmelita, who played an integral role. The story is really well written and kept my interest from beginning to end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really liked this book and can recommend it.
Why?
Blue collar every day peeps, that’s why.
Real money troubles. Check.
Thankfully, not a billionaire in sight!
Just two hard working people trying to solve some very real problems and maybe just finding there’s a relationship to be found as well.
Purchased.
Jennifer is an accountant and she is looking into Stetson’s account after he missed a payment on his farm loan. The tension between Stetson and Jennifer was very aptly dealt with Carmelita, who is the housekeeper of Stetson’s house.
Carmelita is a wonderful character and one that stays in my mind long after the book is over.
Overall, the way the two characters got together was great fun. But it seemed a little hurried.
But nonetheless, it was enjoyable all the way through.
Lovely romance.
There were times you wanted to slap Stetson but when he finally quit being a jerk you loved him. Good love story and a HEA and NOT a cliffhanger!!!
Erin Wright writes the right stuff for an easy to read, fun story with enough drama and comedy balance. Characters are real. Each one has his/her own “typical” personality locked down so you can love them or hate them. Fun. Won’t tell you that all it needed was a lawyer in the mix to make it even more realistic!
Amazing rewrite of the original book. Lots of humor and wonderful characters. Tough issues are tackled – plight of farmers facing and missing loan payments, body shaming, loss of family, etc. The book is not heavy or preachy; the difficult issues are handled as part of the story as Jennifer, the auditor, searches for a way for Stetson to keep the family farm. I have read and loved all the books in the Long Valley series. Even though I had read the original book, I still could not put the new version down!
Accounting for Love – updated, revised and expanded which results in additional humor, deeper plot development, expanded scenes, change in pace, etc., all of which takes the best aspects of the original story and makes it just that much better!
Stetson is a farmer facing foreclosure and Jennifer is the banking accountant sent to audit his books – which, of course, puts Stetson on the defensive immediately. But there’s an attraction there too…
Both main characters, Stetson and Jennifer, have issues from their past that shape how they view themselves today, which in turn effects their interactions with each other. With the expanded story, we get more in-depth characterization which allows a stronger connection to both characters, identifying more with what each one is feeling. This makes the entire story more satisfying!
The supporting characters provide further strength and depth to the story. I especially enjoyed Carmelita – housekeeper, grandmother figure, not afraid to speak her mind!
And the epilogue is just perfect!
Whether you are just beginning the Long Valley series or you’ve read the original version of Accounting for Love, you will thoroughly enjoy reading this one!
This author was recommended to me by another author that I really like. I thought I would give it try and I am VERY glad that I did. Mrs. Wright is an amazing author.
I really liked the character of Jennifer. She is a strong, independent and caring individual. She understands that her job could be difficult to some people and she does whatever she can to help them or at least make them understand that she isn’t trying to be the bad guy. She is a woman who has a wonderful heart and truly understands that some people gut reactions of meeting her isn’t exactly them at their very best.
I also really understood the character of Stetson. I live in an area where we have a lot of small working farms and how depending on what happens that year with the weather it can have a very drastic and lasting effect on the bottom line. I understand his anger but I also liked reading that he wasn’t an angry man. I loved that he has Carmelita in his life. I loved their interactions. Even when he is being scolded by her, you see the love these two have for each other.
These two were fun to read and the sexy times were hot!! It is always fun to find new authors and I plan to read more from this author in the future.
Jennifer and Stentson are at opposite sides. She comes from the city, he is a farmer, she works for a banks that it’s going to take everything from Stentson for not paying his bills..but when they meet they can’t stop the magic between them. But can they be together? A very lovingly story.
Accounting for Love by Erin Wright was part of the Kiss Me Cowboy Summer Box Set and was a new author for me but you can bet I will be reading more of her books! This is also the 1st book in the Long Valley series.
Stetson Miller inherits his father’s farm but as he works in the fields to grow the crops to pay the bills he really doesn’t pay much attention to the finances until he receives notification that they bank is threatening to foreclose on the ranch…the bank sends an auditor to the ranch to determine how best to foreclose and sell the ranch but the auditor, Jennifer Kendall always tries to find a way to save a ranch and the bank gets their money. When Jennifer meets Stetson the sparks fly but not in a good way (in the beginning) she feels the pull to want more from Stetson but he doesn’t want anything to do with her because she reminds him of a city girl and he has already been left by one.
Can Jennifer find a way to save Stetson’s ranch and find a way into his heart or will it all fall to ruin???
I don’t read many western books and have never really been into cowboys. My opinion has been changed and I will definitely be buying the rest of this series. The romance between Jennifer and Stetson, while very quick to develop, was quite sweet. I’m so happy that they got their HEA.
Enjoyed the integrity of the characters, Stetson’s dedication to preserving the family farm and Jennifer’s dedication to do the right thing in helping him save the farm if at all possible than being intimidated by her boss and the threat of losing her job.
If you love HOT farmers/cowboys and romance than this book is for you.
Stetson Miller is a farmer who lost his dad, and let the paperwork fall to the wayside. The mortgage payment to the bank is missed, and the bank sends an auditor to the farm. Enter Jennifer Kendall, the Auditor. Stetson did not expect a female auditor and lashes out. What he doesn’t understand is that Jennifer is there to help him save the ranch, not loose it. Having a female heroin is amazing, especially since the story was well written. A quick HEA read! Now Stetson has 2-brothers and I’m looking forward to reading their stories.
I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is the first book in the Long Valley series. Stetson owns a farm that’s been in his family for three generations but he’s missed this year’s operating mortgage payment. Jennifer is the accountant the bank sent to perform the required audit to determine if there is a way the farm can make the payment or if she needs to recommend foreclosure. Stetson and Jennifer’s first meeting involves loud voices as well as chemistry. Despite the chemistry, the two main characters are at cross purposes. Stetson wants to save his farm and hates the bank and its accountant. Jennifer cannot get romantically involved with the owner of the farm she’s auditing. On their way to their HEA, Stetson and Jennifer need to learn to trust and to let go of their pasts in order to embrace something wonderful. This book has a little bit of everything – sweet moments, strong friendships, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, high stress situations, laugh out loud moments, and so much love. I especially like when real issues – like baggage from past relationships- are included in romances, it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded storylines. I will definitely keep reading more of this series.
A well written, delightful story with some laugh aloud moments.
This is a great read
