I really enjoyed reading this story. It was such an all around wonderful and humorous tail . The characters were unique and interesting people . This is a new to me author and I’ll definitely be reading more of her work . If you need alittle humor in your reading . This is a very well written and delightful book . I highly recommend reading this story .You cannot go wrong .
While death is a sad event most of the time, it sure wasn’t for Tabitha Brownlee. The events surrounding her death were down-right funny. When she died, her soul collector was accidentally pushed into her body. That started off the comedy. Not only because he was a man but because he was promiscuous. He didn’t do well in a woman’s body. Tabitha was cute. She was sure she was just dreaming (not dead) and wanted to wake up because she was getting married in a few days and had lots to do. She was a busy woman planning her wedding and watching out for her mother who had Alzheimers. Maybe she wasn’t so wonderful to be marrying her friend just to ease her money problems. She loved him but wasn’t in love with him. Granted some of her money issues were because she was paying her mother’s mortgage along with her own.
I laughed at Tabitha’s mother riding a motorcycle. She even wore a leather jacket! And Death was funny. He did have his problems. He couldn’t fix the soul issue with Tabitha until the council met, so his hands were tied for the time being. Otherwise, the things he did had me chuckling. Another soul collector, Cooper, was hot but arrogant so he was hard to like.
I never would have expected the surprise at the end.
I was given a complimentary copy of Accidents Happen and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hold onto your soul, this one is going take you for a ride. I always wondered what the afterlife might be like. We find out that there’s more to life than the time we spend on earth. Tabitha is not sure what happened but she’s not dead and she’s not in love with her fiancee. But can she find Cooper and find that deep love she feels for him? Ms. Karaa writes an amazing story that you will not believe.
Tabitha Brownlee is eight days away from her wedding. She is marrying a man she loves as a dear friend, it will solve her money problems. She has everything organized and detailed. Then a freak accident happens and Tabitha saves a boy but ends up dead! The Death Collector, please don’t call them Reapers, is incompetent and tells her it is NOT her time. Mort tries to force Tabitha back into her body and she uses her self-defense skills resulting in Mort inhabiting her body. Phew, she does not have time for this.
She goes to meet Death, who is surly and drunk. With all the bureaucratic red tape, it will take a week to get this all straightened out. In the meantime, she will be assigned to another death collector, William Cooper, to help as someone has to take over Mort’s duties. Death waits for no one.
Oh my gosh this book was funny. Tabitha is accident prone and a calamity walking. All she wanted was a life besides two mortgages, a crazy demented mom. After her unorthodox upbringing she deserves more that a loveless marriage to an up and coming politician.
And then she falls in love with her death collector partner. The death collector, Mort, who is living in her body is having the time of his life. He is eating all sorts of food, hitting on women and taking her crazy mom skydiving!
This book was funny, great memorable characters, great witty dialog and fun situations but it had a lot of heart too. When I started this book, I could not put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen next. Some parts were laugh out loud funny and other parts made you sad and thoughtful.
I will be looking for more books from this author. I hope she does a whole series on this death, and death collectors.
Tabitha Brownlee has never seemed to have the upper hand. Things never seemed to go her way and she kept her circle small. Her long time friend Janice has always been by her side and while in College, John became part of that circle. When John proposed to her it seemed like the answer to all of her problems.
Eight days till the big day and the preparations are underway. Things were coming together and there seemed to be just a few more finishing touches that Tabitha needed to take care of. That is, until a bit of snow, a stolen van, two teenagers and a questionable sign intervene and Tabitha is thrown into one heck of an out of body experience. Meeting Mort is infuriating and exhausting. The man has no filter, but seems to posses some very sound advice. He seems to be getting to much of a kick out of being in this new position.
Time is of the essence and Tabitha is stuck with a pompous and irritatingly hot soul collector. Cooper is the ultimate man and worker who is not so happy being a babysitter to Tabitha and seems to find every teensie flaw he can in her. After a whirlwind week waiting on the Councils final decision Cooper and Tabitha have come to fists and fits getting to know each other. Their mercurial relationship takes an unexpected turn and it seems that fate has a hand in it all.
Fighting to get back to herself, a runaway bride, secrets revealed, the past is coming a haunting and it seems like Tabitha Jane Brownlee can’t fight the tears that she has held back for so long. All she wants is to find her worth and it seems that in order to do that she has to find her way back to what she didn’t know she was looking for.
Fall face first into this great little read because once you pick it up, there is no putting it down. The writter really mashed up every single emotion she could into this story. I was for sure I had it figured all out and that John and Coop were some real pieces of work. I found myself laughing at every joke and I could feel the effects of every emotion that the characters were going through. The last revelation was a doozy for sure. I hope that there is a follow up on all of them. Loved it!
Who knew Death could be so funny – both the character and the end of life event. For Tabitha Brownlee, it’s downright hilarious. From her rather unusual demise to the many characters she meets to her leather-wearing, motorcycle-riding mother, Tabitha’s story is engaging and fun. The story is fast paced and witty, and it gives a whole new meaning to being taken too soon. We even get a surprise twist in the end that I certainly didn’t see coming, but looking back, it makes perfect sense and gives some added closure to the many happenings during Tabitha’s journey through the after-life, or in-between life as it were. With a bit of romance, some hilarious situations, and a few uncovered secrets, this one’s a keeper.
