This was a cute story that takes place in Colorado and made me feel like I was there. Grey Lowell is the owner of a backtrack company who takes customers on skiing and climbing expeditions and after he is injured by a drunk driver he is left unable to work. Avery Randall is the physical therapist who catches his eye but the complication is her brother was the drunk driver. Will their budding romance survive the ex-boyfriend coming back to town and the meddling parents and the lawsuit?
What’s not to love with this story. There’s snow, romance, drama, and heartbreak!
Another KU & Free to Listen To book series and having read one of the author’s books before I knew this would be another hit with me.
These stories are easy to listen to, have fun characters to be around, exciting storylines with lots of drama and angst, if that’s what rocks your boat. For me, I can do without angst and some of this story was drawn out because of it but add it to the rest of the package and this could be overlooked.
This story is about physical therapist Avery Randall and Grey Lowell. When the two see each other across a bar and Grey coins the name “Bambi” for Avery, I guess all bets were off about their possible relationship but with Avery’s friend Kelsey clearly having designs on Grey following a drunken kiss, Avery knows that she must deter the attraction she felt for Grey. Assuming that she will not see Grey again and with any hopes of a date with the man clearly on the back burner, her life is turned upside down when Grey is knocked off his bike after leaving the bar and is injured by none other than Avery’s brother, Andy.
With Grey the best and only PT in town at that time, she finds herself in a dilemma. Does she treat the man who has a claim against her brother? That’s ignoring the fact that they are clearly attracted to each other!
Inevitably, Avery finds herself in an impossible situation as she falls for Grey. Between hurting her brother, family and her friend, Avery is torn between wanting to explore what she has with Grey and not alienating her family. Add to the mix that Grey could take her home in order to cover his costs following the accident and with Andy’s possible prison sentence, it’s a miracle Avery doesn’t have a breakdown.
What makes it harder to see through this nightmare is that Andy is a really nice guy and seeing the effect of his getting drunk and knocking Grey off his bike is heartbreaking to witness but with Grey unable to work and run his ski-expedition company Backtrax, Andy knows that he is facing long term troubles which will not only affect him but Avery as well.
As expected, when Avery and Grey’s relationship becomes known, Avery finds herself in an even bigger dilemma as she decides who to side with: her family or the man she loves and hopes to have a future with.
As you can see, this is drama-ville with problems on top of problems for poor Avery and Grey but will they find a way to resolve all of their differences without one losing everything they have worked hard for?
Despite the tension throughout the story, this was a really enjoyable read. The pace was about right and the story captivating, if slightly exhausting at times. Talk about a hard-fought-for HEA! Next up is the enigmatic Trips, story and his fight to find love, with Kelsey of all people.
Jammie Beck installs well rounded characters that pulls you along wanting to see what happens next.
I really enjoyed this book. Accidentally Hers is the first book in the Sterling Canyon series and I really hope there will be many more to come. This is my first time reading anything by Jamie Beck, and I will for sure be reading more books from her. I loved everything about this book, the main couple, all of the other characters (except for Avery’s father and her ex bf Matt), and the story plot. Everything! This was a truly cute, romantic, low on angst read. It was like a breath of fresh air.
What this book is about
While picking up dinner Grey Lowell sees a beautiful woman with big doe eyes and he instantly nicknames her Bambi. He feels a connection to Bambi, but instead of talking to her, he smiles, winks, and leaves. On his way home he is hit by a drunk driver, messing up his knee. Already upset over the fact that he can lose his business , a ski-expedition company, if he doesn’t get his knee in shape to ski, he also has to work with the sister of the guy that hit him. As she is the only PT in town. He was shocked to walk into PT and find that the sister of the drunk driver is Avery Randall aka Bambi. Working so close together for months has only caused their mutual attraction to grow. Will Grey be able to convince Avery to give their budding relationship a chance , or will some obstacles just be too big to overcome?
Grey was so awesome. Super sweet, sexy, understanding , and supportive. Avery was great too, but not as awesome as Grey. Just sayin… Avery was gun shy. She has been hurt before, but so has Grey. Grey and Avery were very sweet together. Their flirty playfulness was just too cute. Their relationship is well developed, and so are the character’s personalities. The story line was different, and flowed nicely. The way each character acted was very realistic. Especially Avery, I could almost feel her loyalties being pulled. Her dilemma, fear and her guilt felt very real and helped me over look her insecurities about Grey and their relationship. I hated her cheating ex bf Matt, and it would have bugged me a lot more that he was trying to win her back if she would have been nice to him, but since she avoided him like the plague I was ok with it. I have to say that I really want Grey’s best friend Trip get a book, and maybe Avery’s friend Em and her brother Andy too. The ending was a little abrupt but I have a feeling the next book will pick up where this one left off. Great read, I can’t wait for the next one!
Beck delivers another sweet, emotional read with lots of simmer and sizzle.
This character driven romance is just right in terms of sweet and heat. The witty, flirty banter between the main characters reaches the boiling point when they realize they were meant to be together. Too bad luck is not on their side. An accident that has consequences that could end up being devastating to each of them will test their fledgling relationship.
Kate Rudd does an excellent job with the narration in the audio version, too.
I highly recommend this book and/or audiobook to fans of the contemporary romance genre.
An OK read. Kept me turning the pages at least.
