Two strangers accidentally switch cell phones in a busy airport in this edgier You’ve Got Mail, sexy romance for the smart-phone era …Emmy What a disaster! I only just made my flight to New York to help my uncle, and the phone I’m holding is not mine! It seems to belong to some commitment-phobic serial dater who’s never made it past four dates (according to the constant notifications he’s … notifications he’s getting from his fake dating profile…) And worse? I have a sinking feeling it’s that hot suit-monkey with the arctic grey eyes I just had a run-in with at the airport. Somehow, I have to persuade him not to get a new phone until I get back. My whole life is on that phone. I knew I should have backed it up. It’s only a few days. Surely, we can handle it.
Trystan
This is a joke, right? My life could not get more f*cked up. I’m in the middle of selling my company and on my way to a funeral and that hot mess hippie-chick stole my freaking phone. I’m not sure how she convinced me not to immediately walk into a smart phone store and get a new one, but now she’s going to have to play stand in and distract me while I deal with my long-avoided and estranged family. I don’t have my dating apps after all, and frankly she’s pretty funny. And sexy. And why can’t I stop texting her? And now we’re talking. And … look, I’ll admit that I usually run for the hills the morning after, but the morning after phone sex? That’s not really real, right?

I *loved* this book. Such a unique story. Sparkling chemistry and so incredibly witty! I had a smile on my face the entire time !!
Two strangers cross paths at an airport charging station and accidentally exchange phones. Antics ensue and…while they might appear to be polar opposites, they soon discover that they connect on a much deeper level and end up confiding in each other over an eventful week in each others’ lives.
Fantastic read!
It’s been a while since I read one of Natasha’s books so I was super excited when this beauty showed up as an ARC on my kindle. And as like all books I’ve read from Natasha, I devoured Accidental Tryst.
Accidental Tryst is Romcom at its very best! This book is pure perfection!
“He was a kind beautiful man, with the tendency toward periodic assholery.”
Everyone reading this book is a lucky human as you all get to meet your new bookboyfriend Trystan. Trystan is spectacular. He’s the perfect mix of all qualities you are looking for in a perfect bookboyfriend. Or at least what I’m looking for. He’s strong minded but down to earth, he’s proud but got a great sense of humor, he ‘s loving and caring but afraid of showing affection. He got hurt in the past by his family and is afraid of human proximity. He suits up but is no stuck-up suit. He’s the right amount of alpha-male and pushing limits but never over the top.
“… I feel like I’m base jumping. I just voluntarily threw myself off a cliff, and I’m living in the free-fall terror for as long as it will have me because it feels fucking amazing.”
I love the way how Natasha lets Trystan open up to Emmy. The conversations over text, calls and e-mails give him the sense of protection and freedom he needed. Until he started to realize what he was missing out, never letting someone getting close to him.
The way he starts caring for Emmy is so cute! And action speaks always louder than words.
“I never saw him coming, but I knew he had quickly become an addiction that would be impossible to quit.”
Emmy is equally a spectacular heroine. I love the way how she sees and takes on life. How she became a strong independent woman even though life threw a lot of obstacles in her way. She’s cares deeply for the people she loves and that are close to her. She’s open minded and a free spirit. If she was real, I totally would love to be one of her closest friends.
“That’s not fair,” I whispered. “Not fair? What’s not fair is you not even giving me a chance.” “A chance to break me?” “A chance to love you.”
Emmy and Trystan, obviously thrown together by fate and cupid hit a perfect match. Their funny and witty banter on and off the text, emails and calls is hilarious and the chemistry is way off the charts. Natasha made it so easy to fall for both, I just couldn’t put the book down. It was like I was on the receiving end of all those messages and I freaking loved it!
And I swear to god, the first time they have sex? I never read a first time scene so unbelievably HOT! This was so steamy, my glasses were fogging up. *blush*
“Can we be scared together?”
Accidental Tryst is such a light and funny read, it lifts your mood automatically, no matter how broody you might be. The way this love story plays out could really be right out of real life. Maybe that’s why I felt so close to Emmy and Trystan. It felt real.
If you need to lighten up and if you are up for a steaming hot and funny banter, this is totally your book! Natasha did a fantastic job with this story and I can only highly recommend this one!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this beautiful book!
I chose to read this book because I was looking for a book where the foundation of the romance came from texting or calling a stranger.
ACCIDENTAL TRYST is a very good representation of that type of book. It starts with Emmy picking up Trysten’s phone at the airport accidentally and texting until they can get together to exchange phones.
The romance part is swoony. Trysten has no emotional connections and Emmy make a connection with just about everyone she meets. It’s fun and lighthearted for them both until they start to overthink and let their baggage take over.
I really liked this book and would read others by this author.
An adorably sweet feel good romance. Trystan and Emmy are both witty, charming, and absolutely perfect for one another. I adored this book.
She did it again – Natasha Boyd created amazing characters that you can’t help but fall for. If you’re looking for a book that will make you laugh out loud while it sweeps you off your feet in the most contemporary way, this is it!
I loved this book. I didn’t want to put it down. It was funny and sweet.
I really wanted to like this book more, and I was disappointed that I didn’t. It fell into the “good” category for me. I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy read with some witty dialogue and steamy, sexy parts. I liked the idea of the main characters being forced to interact, thereby getting to know one another, when they accidentally switched phones in an airport. The story has a long-distance relationship spin, and so many of the text, email, and phone conversations were entertaining and endearing. Some were downright hot. Yet, the obvious snooping on a stranger’s phone to learn about, and then judge, them that both main characters engaged in was annoying as it created conflict that seemed forced and immature. My biggest struggle with this book was my difficulty caring about these characters. In the beginning, I felt Trystan was a complete ass and I didn’t like him at all. At about 1/3 of the way into the book I suddenly found myself liking him more than Emmy. I initially liked Emmy a lot and I appreciated her relationship with her Uncle David. As the story progressed, Emmy’s constant whining, irrational jealousy, and emotional flip-flopping became frustrating. Although there were story elements that were not to my taste, there were several parts of this book that are heartwarming and fun.
Very entertaining. I loved it.
Thought this was a fun read.
This was an impulse one-click and I was so glad I did it! I found the building of Emmy and Trystan’s relationship to be the perfect slow-build and slow-burn. I loved watching the momentum continue to build and I was rooting for them every step of the way!
“Accidental Tryst” is the first book in a new romantic comedy series by Natasha Boyd.
In “Accidental Tryst”, Boyd gives us the story of two strangers who accidentally switch phones in the Charleston airport. The switch becomes complicated when one of them leaves on a flight without knowing she has the other person’s phone.
Emmy ends up in New York City with Trystan’s phone, while Trystan is stuck in Charleston with Emmy’s phone. The two text trying to figure out how to swap the misplaced phones and end up being intrigued with each other. Intrigue become fascination and then romance emerges. All without meeting face to face.
As is true for all of Boyd’s novels, “Accidental Tryst” is superbly written with complex characters and a unique yet totally believable plot.
“Accidental Tryst” is a quick-paced, fun, compelling romantic read that will speak to your emotions. Highly recommended for readers of contemporary romance.
A fun light listen. I almost stopped listening after chapter 2. Couldn’t stand Emmy. Continued the next day and so glad I did. It was adorable. Touched on some dark and sad subjects with grace and kindness(foster care, demantia). Definitely glad I continued. Would have missed out on an intro to a new author for me, plus a sweet HEA always makes me smile.
An unlikely meeting leads to a blooming friendship that turns into so much more! I really liked listening to this book from a new author to me.
4 Suit Monkey stars!
This was such a cute, witty, slow-burn story! I LOVE relationships that begin with texting, messaging, phone calls or letters! It’s one of my weaknesses. So, if you don’t enjoy that, then turn away now.
This story begins with an accidental phone swap in a busy airport, each of our MCs heading in opposite directions. It’s amazing how much we rely on our phones today, our whole lives are kept on them! Both Trystan & Emmy need their phones, so instead of running to the nearest store to replace them, they each keep the other’s phone and message pertinent information back and forth. They get to know each other through their witty repartee and also by the content in the phones, photos, messages, apps, etc. I loved the quick intimacy developed from such a view into each other’s lives.
Emmy was raised in foster care until the age of 10 when she was finally adopted by her foster parents. She has been forever grateful for the short time that she had them in her life and still takes care of her foster uncle. She’s also hard working, loyal, caring, and has so much love to give.
Trystan also carries his own heavy baggage, at a young age his mother was shunned by her own family, left to raise her son on her own. Trystan has lots of anger and resentment towards his family and it’s the death of his beloved grandfather that ends up bringing him home to face his past.
Because of their pasts, Emmy’s afraid that every relationship will be taken away from her and Tystan is afraid of being rejected. I loved how they came to rely on each other, not just for the information locked in their phones, but for comfort, for advice, or just to share the day.
The only thing that irked me a bit was the abrupt ending and no epilogue! I feel that an epilogue was very much needed in this story, especially after such a slow burn.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was original and the characters were very likeable. I’ll be reading the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this book! It has a clever (even if somewhat unrealistic) premise. The story is fun, but with unexpected depths. The writing and storytelling are solid. Once I started it, I didn’t want to put it down and I didn’t want it to end. If you love the older romantic comedy movies (think Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon), you’d probably enjoy this book.
Love in the 21st century
While highly unlikely, because who now days leaves their phone unattended, I really liked this book. It was a fun, laugh out loud read and kinda hot!
Well that was fun! Cleaver banter via text, characters I cared about, just enough tension to keep me rooting for the eventual happy ending. A lovely entertainment.
Great way to tell a story through texts and emails…Emma and Trystan are a great couple…really enjoyed this
