From Wall Street Journal bestselling heart-slayer Nicole Snow comes an intense and bantery slow-burn standalone romance.Accidentally married to a human stallion. And I can’t even remember our wedding. It’s awkward, okay? I didn’t plan on waking up hitched to Hubby of the Century.Or one little misadventure erasing every memory of us.No sweet nothings. No ugly cry vows. No flipping honeymoon. But … nothings. No ugly cry vows. No flipping honeymoon.
But every time I see Flint Calum, I wonder.
How did I get so lucky?
Let’s forget all six foot something of his oh-so-bad superdad self.
His flashing eyes and SEAL perfected whip of a body aren’t why I’m dizzy.
It’s the bittersweet way he smiles when I poke at my past.
And something’s very wrong.
He tells me I’ll be fine.
He says he’ll get this sorted.
He promises to be my shield.
Totally not the pretender who’d scheme up an illusion to save my life.
Oh, but that’s the thing about memories.
Sometimes they come back with bitter truths wrapped in dilemmas.
What if I can’t stay mad at him?
What if I need Flint to hero me back together?
What happens when you fall in love with a beautiful lie?

This was a great story with lots of surprises. Flint and Valerie were great characters who were well developed and likable. The story line was full of drama and twists. Emotional at times and overflowing with chemistry. Well written and a page turner. Beware once you start reading you’ll find it hard to put down. An accidental wedding, memory loss, a gorgeous protector and some steam. Well written with an enchanting story.
Another fantastic story from Nicole Snow. Slow burning love between a ex SEAL and a damsel in distress. Well, she has amnesia. Valerie wakes up in a strange bed, doesn’t know who she is but remembers some things. She is told that she is married to this gorgeous guy and finds out that he is a retired SEAL. Flint doesn’t broadcast that he was a SEAL or is a security expert. He is pretty humble in my opinion. Has a wonderful son and a great mother who helps him with Bryce.
The fires are burning between these two but the sparks don’t fly until about 70% into the book. There is so much happening during this time that you just keep turning the pages. Watch out when these two finally do get together!! So many funny sayings had me giggling and we also learn about a dark part of Flint’s military past that had me nearly gasping for breath. That’s how wonderful the writing is in each of Nicole’s books. You can’t help but fall in love with her characters, feel their pain and joy as you read her books. It was also very nice to have my favorite ‘Enguard Security’ mentioned in the story also.
I completely enjoyed this book and hope we get to read about ‘Dr. Cash’ in a future book. I did receive a ARC and this is my honest review. I loved “Accidental Shield” and wanted even more of their story after the epilogue. I always want that with Nicole’s books which is why I purchase them for myself also.
I came across this author during an ARC opportunity and I remember the first book I read from her was Accidental Romeo. I was pleasantly surprised by the writing style, characters and plot. Every book that I’ve read from Snow so far has delivered what I’m looking for…a story to get lost in.
Accidental Shield was a great read. I liked Valerie’s character. The author did a great job with the amnesia…Valerie was asking the questions that I had going through my mind as I read. Amnesia is a curious phenomenon and I liked how it was dealt with in this story. Despite the lack of memory, Valerie was still a strong character. Valerie was a great compliment to Flint. I enjoyed learning about both characters and how their HEA came about. Bryce put a smile on my face everytime he made an appearance too….he and Savanny. The love is not instant, but the marriage was…LOL. This book slowly builds tension between the main characters.
This book is easy to zoom through because it keeps you wanting more and the writing flows. The pacing is just right for the story. The story is written in dual POV (clearly labeled) with occassional flashback moments to help give more understanding of the characters and what they are truly up against. The character building is fabulous. There are adult scenes, adult language, action, violence and a sweet 12 year old Byrce and with an Hawaiian backdrop.
I received a free ARC from BookSprout for my honest review. The above thoughts are my honest opinion of the book.
My favorite Nicole Snow book.
Why? It’s set on Oahu. I’m from there.
It has honu (sea turtles).
And malasadas.
The best part? It has Captain McHottie, Flint Calum.
Flint, single father who’s bored after going wealthy civilian. He lives on Oahu with his son Bryce.
Valerie just woke up with amnesia and Flint is playing the part of her husband. He’s protecting her while trying to take down the bad guys, King Heron and Cornaro.
So much sweet, action and steam with a side helping of cute with plucky son Bryce.
Highly recommend.

Four and half stars. Imagine waking up and being married but not remembering anything. That is what happened to Valerie and she doesn’t know that her marriage is fake. Flint, the SEAL, has agreed to be her shield, protector. This story starts off slow and builds up to the explosion. There is mystery, intrigue, romance, suspense, fake marriage, and a super hot SEAL that makes this an interesting story.

This is an unusual take on the fake marriage. Valerie has amnesia and does not know the marriage is fake. What will happen when she gets her memory back?

This story is one that will keep you glued to it. It is full of mystery, drama, suspense and hot romance. It has so many twists and turns throughout it that it leaves you surprised at how it proceeds. I absolutely adored Val and Flint. That have a chemistry that is off the charts. Their personalities are felt throughout the story and so easy to love. The support characters are beautifully developed and add so much to the story. The action in this story begins from the very first words and continue all to the end. It is addicting and amazing all at once. This is beautifully written and the descriptions are vivid. It is a must read!!!!!
A fastpaced and wellwritten book with an actionpacked storyline and exciting characters. This book is a real pageturner and held me captive from beginning to end. Would definitely read more about the characters in this book.

My first read from the author and definitly won’t be the last.
Woke up with amnessia, Val only know her first name with the same certainty of the man standing infront of him is her husband.
There’s a comfort Flint give her. The sense of safety. But there’s always nagging feeling Val suspect Flint hiding something dark.
I like how the author tell her story. She took her time with Flint and Val chemistry. They aren’t going at it like crazy. It’s all fall in the right time for when the sexy times come.
A slow pace on the suspence part, not so much crazy about that. The “mystery” kinda solve it self on chapter two with Flint. Instead of letting readers explore the mystery with the characters, the author explain it straight to the point on that chapt two. Bit let down there for me.
Good thing the amnessia thing resolved in like 30% ish. If the sham following the amnessia keeps going, that would be bad. So yeah I love how the author don’t drag it along.
After that 30% the pace picking up a bit. Their chemistry flowing nicely. But the suspence part still going slow. Until 80% ish. Now I love this part. How we finally get along in the journey with the characters to solve and wrap up the mystery.
Love the action part.
Love the epilogue with the little girl Flint and his group saved from.
Love their HEA.
Wonder if Bryce would have his own story one day.
Will Flint be able to protect Valerie
Nicole quickly pulls you into the story of Valerie who has amnesia from a boating accident. Cash rescues Valerie and her cat after seeing the incident and brings Valerie to Flint’s private house where he tells Valerie that Flint is her husband to keep her safe. What follows are some sweet and funny scenes as Flint trudges through the role as Valerie’s husband. Meanwhile, Valerie’s family is embroiled with the same bad guy that Flint wants above all else to have behind bars. How will it all play out, is anyone’s guess as Nicole weaves her tale of betrayal. I did not want to put the book down until I turned the last page.
I enjoyed this one. It had just the right balance of romance and suspense.
Even with the sense of loss that comes with amnesia, Valerie is sharp enough to pick up on a few truths before her memory returns. Flint is a foul mouth, no-nonsense type of guy. He’s protective and a super-alpha. The chemistry between Val and Flint sizzles, and the romance is a slow burn, but when it’s catches fire, it’s explosive.
All the characters were fully fleshed out, including Savanny the cat and the full cast of family and friends. Even the setting almost serves as a character with its rich detail. The suspense storyline adds a bit of action and suspense, but it never really overshadows the building romance. The story ends with a peek into their future. And I finished with a smile on my face.

Action and romance
4.5
Very good romance, very well written with which the action is mixed from the beginning. The hero, Valerie, is saved by Cash, a former SEAL doctor, who takes her to Flint, his friend and single father, also a former SEAL. She is amnesiac and someone has tried to kill her. To reassure her, Cash makes her believe that she is married to Flint, which quickly brings Flint and her together. This lie quickly disappears, but when the truth comes out, Valerie is all the more aware that someone wants to kill her and certainly in her own family.
