Fourteen years later, just thinking about him makes my stomach flip.
I still remember his citrus smell, the way he used to gently hold my hand.
And then… It turns out he’s living in the same damn town.
But he’s not the Mike I remember.
He’s dark and dangerous, covered in ink.
He’s completely and utterly mouth-watering.
His whiskey-colored eyes blaze as he catches sight of me.
And it’s just a matter of time before he finds out the truth…
The question is, will he forgive me?

She was my ride or die.
And she left without even saying goodbye.
Left me with nothing but a broken heart.
Since then, I’ve struggled to get close to anyone.
It’s pathetic – who else clings to their high-school love?
And then, all these years later, I see her.
But Rachel’s not how I remember.
Her wavy, raven hair frames her sexy sea-blue eyes.
Her perfect hourglass figure has curves in all the right places.
She’s pin-up girl hot. And I refuse to let her get away this time.
Next thing, we’re in suite 108.
I’m unbuttoning her blouse, tasting every inch of her.
She’s screaming in pleasure.
She’s begging for more.
Everything’s perfect.
Except for one thing…
She’s hiding one hell of a secret.
And when I find out what it is, do I have it in me to forgive her?
Or will I be the one walking away without a goodbye this time?

I’ve always been a Dana Mason fan and Accidental Secrets was the perfect ending to a wonderful contemporary romance series. We got a short peek at Mike’s life in the first book, Accidental Groom, and I’m so glad that Dana came back and wrote his story!
Mike lost Rachel, his high school sweetheart, without explanation or discussion when she moved to a different state out of the blue at sixteen. The reason? She was pregnant with Mike’s baby and her mother, or The Witch, as I started calling her, basically destroyed three people’s lives; Rachel’s, Mike’s and their child’s. Rachel wasn’t allowed to tell Mike or contact him after the baby was born. It wasn’t until their daughter, Reagan, turned thirteen and started snooping around on the internet that she was able to finally figure out who her father was. Now living in the same town and opening a gym there, Reagan sends cryptic emails to him (Which I actually found cute and endearing).
When Rachel finds out what Reagan did, all hell breaks loose and she knows she has to tell Mike before he finds out some other way. To say the chemistry between them was still on fire was an understatement.
When push comes to shove, Mike knows he wants to spend time with his daughter, even if he’s angry at her mother for keeping her a secret for so many years. He wants to form a family unit with Reagan and be there to support her. First, he has to convince Rachel to let him meet her. Little does he know, he already has.
Accidental Secrets was a twisted and sad look at how families often do things for themselves instead of for the betterment of someone else. Rachel’s mother is the perfect example of someone who is protecting herself and not her daughter or granddaughter. I did find it difficult to swallow how much Rachel was still devoted to her family considering how they treated her. At the same time, I understood she needed that familial unit, even with its flaws, to help her take care of her daughter as a single mom who worked full-time.
In the end, the romance between Mike and Rachel won me over and getting to hear from all of their POV’s was refreshing. It gave me insight into their emotions as they all went through the same experience but for different reasons. Mike was just learning he had a daughter, Rachel was learning how to share her daughter, and Reagan was learning how to trust a father. Thank you, Dana, for a wonderful series about love, romance, family, and happily-ever-afters!
Rachel and Mike’s story is heart-breaking and heart-warming. Raegan’s point of view adds so much, love it. Barbara is beyond vindictive, you gotta love karma. I absolutely love this book.
This story hit a little too close to home for me, which is precisely what made it leap off the page. I understood their pain and regrets, but you don’t need to have experienced something similar to enjoy or relate to this book. Like all of Mason’s novels, it’s filled with emotion and heartache that draws you in and makes you want to hug the characters’ grief away. I was so relieved and blissfully happy when they were all able to do that for each other. Another fantastic, emotional, sexy AF read by Mason. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed the “saga” of Mike and Rachel. I thought the set-up was interesting, the characters were real, and the situations were natural. The occupations of the two main characters added to the uniqueness of their story. Without giving anything away, their separation and reunion several years later were facilitated by an important person (which also made it original). The third of a trilogy, this book can be read as a standalone, but you might understand the dynamics better if you read the first two. Fabulous Story & Narration Captivating & Heartfelt!
Accidental Secrets: A Totally Gripping, Steamy, Sexy Contemporary Romance
Accidental Love, Book 3
By: Dana Mason
Narrated by: Kelsey Navarro
I loved everything about this book, from Dana Mason’s wonderful writing style to the storylines and characters she created to Kelsey Navarro’s fabulous narration. This is the third book in the “Accidental Love” series, each book stands on its own and as much as I loved the first two books I must say Dana Mason outdone herself with this one, it grabbed my attention and my heart right from the start and help it captive to the very end. She is a gift writer, who knows how to bring her readers into her story along side her characters, seeing what they see, feeling what they feel. Her characters are complex, realistic and ones you can easily relate to. With the exception of Rachel’s Mom they are all likable too, I adored the leads, each for different reasons, Rachel for an inner strength I am not sure she knew she had but it surfaces when it really mattered. Raegan, you can not help but like her, a smart teenager, maybe too smart, goes behind her mothers back to get what she wants, to find her father. Mike, swoon worthy Mike, Rachels first and only love, he is an all around nice guy. They were teenagers in love when the were forced apart, Rachel disappears without any explanation. He was heartbroken, she was heartbroken but she did not think she had a choice. Fourteen years later they meet again and Rachel, the love & spark between them still burns, but will their love survive once the secrets are revealed. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and the story has a beautiful flow to it, I loved Rachels letters, they were both heartfelt and heartbreaking. I highly recommend this second chance at love story, it is moving and contains plenty of drama, a whole lot of emotions, angst, a twist and some hot romance. Dana Mason, thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride. It was great to see Mac & Kelley again too.
I listened to the Audible edition, Kelsey Navarro is a fabulous narrator and talented voice artist. She brings the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. Her portrayal of the characters was spot on, she did each justice and sounded as you pictured them. You could hear how much heart she put into her performance as she projected their passion and emotions into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen
This was pretty good! It is a second chance romance with a secret. This is filled with characters I love, characters I hate and even ones to feel sorry for. I loved the reconnect and seeing all the flirty banter come out. So much fun. Then the evil characters..man I just can’t get over the manipulation! Arg!!
This is a new author for me. I loved the flow of the story. The characters and their ideals. I loved Rachel’s journaling aka her letters to Mike. That was a great way to tell that portion of a story.
I loved listening to this! Kelsey Navarro narrated and she did a wonderful job. She is easy to understand.
Accidental Secrets is an emotional contemporary romance about a woman keeping a secret for her first love. It gave me so many feels as I was reading.
The story follows Rachel, Mike, and Raegan. In the beginning, we see how Rachel and Mike fall in love at a very young age. They are already fantasizing about their future plans when one decision changes everything.
The story picks up fourteen years later. Now, we get to read from the perspective of her daughter Reagan. She is wanting to meet her father and begins taking the steps to find him.
I loved reading this story because it was so vulnerable. Rachel was afraid of Mike’s reaction, Reagan wondered if her father would reject her, and Mike didn’t want to make the wrong decision that could make him lose everything all over again.
Dana Mason did a great job of creating a story with depth and vulnerability.
I give Accidental Secrets 4.5 stars. It’s a great contemporary romance about true love, family, and having a voice!!
I thoroughly enjoyed Accidental Secrets by Dana Mason. It is a steamy romance with a ton of excitement, emotion and energy. This is the third book from the author’s Accidental Love series and it can be savored as a standalone.
Rachel and Mike were good friends before they became lovers. They were madly in love during high school and spent every free moment together. Then one day Rachel disappeared. Mike had no idea what happened to her and he mourned her absence like a death. Rachel’s mom whisked her away to her father’s home in California, where she could be kept under lock and key while she raised her infant daughter. Scared and so alone, Rachel obeyed her mother’s strict orders and never reached out to Mike or anyone else from her hometown in Portland, Oregon. Now it is thirteen years later and Rachel is the manager of a small hotel in Sacramento. She never stopped loving Mike and has always regretted not telling him about their daughter Raegan. Mike and his two partners are opening up their third Crossfit box in Sacramento. Coincidentally, Raegan has figured out who her father is and wants to learn everything about him.
This is a well-conceived romance with an engaging plot and nicely-defined characters. I found Rachel and Mike to be intelligent and real, and I admired how Mike handled his new normal. Due to great descriptive writing, I was able to engross myself in Rachel’s heartbreaking life, her mother’s antagonistic nastiness, and Mike’s ability to forgive. Rachel and Mike are a hot couple and their sexy encounters left me breathless. Overall, this is a captivating novel that twists and turns in all the right places.

3/3.5
A great contemporary romance full of secrets, romance and drama. The story was fast-paced and I enjoyed the multiple povs.
“Okay so I struggle with this story. Lately, this kind of trope has stopped being my jam and gave me some issues. First because I’d like the girl to be bolder and stabd up against the oppression but some other part understands the background situation and everything is a mess. Second, Rachel was one of the most awful FMC I’ve recently read, still the same girl crying for her lost love and being childish about a broken heart. Girl, grow up and face the consequences of your decision don’t go blaming others! For the record, the ‘I thought of you everyday cause I love you’ is pathetic. Utterly annoying! I’m so sorry with that author for haven’t finished the story but by chapter 18 I was done with Rachel’s character. Seriously girl?! You slept with him before telling the truth? That’s b*lls*it!!!! I loved the two previous books and I was looking forward for this one but sadly it was disappointing.”
