Accidental Love is a romantic thriller, with no cliffhangers and a HEA endingThe book includes steamy love scenes intended for a mature audience.Delaney Cole has no interest in love and marriage, at this time. Having the hots for the detective who had you on his list of suspects for murder was not smart. But Delaney couldn’t help her attraction to Jake. He felt the same but knew he had to stay professional and keep away from her until she was no longer a suspect. She was no sooner cleared of the crime when she was being stalked. Was Delaney going to be the next victim? Jake and Delaney wondered if giving in to their desires had made things worse for her. Maybe making her the next target.
I liked the characters in this book. Jake was good at his job. He was a dedicated detective who was so focused on work that everything else in his life took a backseat. Delaney was a smart, strong woman. But even though she was told not to go out alone, she did. Not the brightest thing to do.
This was an enjoyable suspense. But it had more romance than suspense. Actually, more sex than anything else. There were lots of steamy sex scenes. They were well written – just so many of them that they took away from the investigative/suspense of the book for me.
If you like steamy romance with a touch of suspense, I recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I was all set to sit down with a good romantic suspense book, but was disappointed with Accidental Love. The premise was good, but execution was not. Delaney is working after school and stumbles upon the murder of a fellow teacher. During the inital investigation, Jake is the lead detective and questions Delaney about what occurred. From the beginning, the author tried to insert a forced attraction between the two at inappropriate times. What should have been gradual was instead awkward. This continued throughout the book and felt forced.

This book does have Suspense but I’m not too sure that I found it to be thrilling. It was a decent story, especially for my first by an author

Accidental Love is the first book in the Special Forces Veterans series and is a great start to this new series.
The characters are well developed, intelligent, and have amazing chemistry. The storyline is well written and engaging, with murder, a stalker, danger, passion, suspense, intrigue, and a second chance for love… if they live long enough.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
This is a fantastic who-dun-it mystery romance about a young teacher named Delaney who finds the body of a fellow teacher at school. A divorced homicide detective named Jake begins the investigation to find the murderer and finds himself very attracted to Delaney. The killer seems to be a secret admirer of Delaney and starts to stalk her, so Jake begins protecting her and they find themselves falling in love. It was interesting to read about Jake’s methods as he searches for the murderer, his questioning techniques and analyses of possible suspects (I learned a lot about how to do this, though I hope I never need to know those things!) There may have been too many suspects , since I would have liked the book to have been a little shorter (I never have enough time to read longer books). But there were such dramatic scenes, (sex scenes and murder scenes for example), and many dangers, definitely plenty to keep my interest. There is trouble from the murderer/stalker and even trouble from the ex-wife! There is a dramatic conclusion, and the chance, hopefully, for Delaney and Jake to have an HEA. I highly recommend this book!
I received an advanced review copy of Accidental Love from the author prior to its release.
Delaney Cole is working late at the high school where she teaches IT when a fellow teacher is murdered. Thinking he had had a heart attack, she rushed to help him and finds he’s been shot multiple times. Homicide Detective Jake Torrance and other investigators show up at the scene and place the blood-stained at the top of their suspect list.
There’s chemistry between Delaney and Jake from the get-go. But both of them have been burned before and Jake is fighting hard not to give in to his desires because he isn’t sure he can trust Delaney and thinks she’s hiding something. Meanwhile, the killer still on the loose is infatuated with Delaney and he’s not only armed and dangerous, he’s completely crazy.
Atwood’s novel is super exciting, with plenty of action and erotic scenes to keep the pulse pounding and some surprise twists that kept me guessing. A great read. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
