Acceptable Risk can be read without reading the first book in the series titled, Collateral Damage. In the first book, we meet women who are serving in the military in various roles. They are friends and they become even closer when experiencing hardship while serving. The first book focuses on the character named Brooke Adams, and this newest edition to the series focuses on Sarah Denning.
Sarah is an investigative journalist who is captured while working undercover in an orphanage gathering information on a story she is sure will launch her career. Now she is stateside and trying to come to terms with recent events and how they are impacting her life. Gavin is someone she is interested in and he seems to be with her every step she takes as she goes through yet another tragedy. On top of that Sarah’s relationship with her father is tense to say the least, but he seems to want to control her life, so she does and says things to push him away.
When Sarah, Gavin and her father’s lives seem to come together in a precipitous place in the story, Sarah must decide to take either the road to forgiveness or harbor her anger. There is a lot that occurs in the story from the beginning through to the very last page. Plus, I couldn’t stop reading and had to find out how all the various threads of the plot were going to be unwound, if possible.
So far, this series seems to be one of the author’s very best. I love how she takes women from the field of active duty and places them back into everyday life with a twist. I enjoy the various characters and their friendships with each other and hope that more stories of the girls are forthcoming. So, read a book that is entertaining, enlightening and one you won’t put down until you read the very last word, and even then, you might find yourself looking forward to reading more books with these characters together!
Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason should come with a warning label. “You might lose sleep when you can’t put this book down.” This story had me hooked from start to finish, with intriguing characters and a complex, action-packed plot.
This is book two in the Danger Never Sleeps series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone. Sarah Denning is a military journalist who gets discharged and sent state side after being injured during a kidnapping. Gavin Black is put in charge of her security, even though she doesn’t know her overbearing father arranged it. But Sarah stumbles headfirst into danger through a variety of circumstances. She meets a strange and disturbed woman in the hospital who disappears. Her brother commits suicide but the facts surrounding it don’t add up. And then several attempts are made on her life. It all adds up to one intense and suspense-filled novel.
Sarah’s strength shines through the story as she fights for justice for her brother and others. The plot twists are endless and the bad guys are pure evil. Gavin realizes his place isn’t “knight in shining armor” and wrestles with how to protect Sarah but give her the freedom she craves.
All suspense fans should move Acceptable Risk to the number one spot on your TBR lists. You won’t want to miss this.
Overall: 5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
Suspense: 5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)

This book starts out with Sarah being held captive in the Middle East. She is rescued by Gavin Black, a former Army Ranger. He was hired by Sarah’s father to rescue her. After she recovers from her injuries, she discovers that she was falsely discharged from the Army and that her father, the General, had a hand in it. Also, her life is still in danger. With the help Gavin and her brother Caleb, and FBI agent, they track down who is responsible.
This is a great mystery that you will want to read. Ms. Eason has written another great book.
I was given this book Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Acceptable Risk is the second book in the Danger Never Sleeps series. These are gritty stories that deal with hard but realistic issues. Be warned : PTSD, hostage situations and suicide are not easy to read about. The action seemed a mile-a-minute but it also seemed true to life.
Gavin Black and Sarah Denning met in the Army in Afghanistan and dated a few times but things changed. They are reunited when Gavin rescues Sarah from a prison cell at the behest of her father, the General. They are soon caught up in a disturbing plot when they return to the States and spend time in a VA hospital. Can they uncover the criminal deeds before any more veterans suffer?
Theirs is a journey to rely on God to help them get to the bottom of the nefarious events. It is also a journey of forgiveness for Sarah and her father.
This story may be a bit raw but it moved at a fast pace and kept my attention. The heroine is strong, if opinionated and the hero is stalwart, sincere and patient while being a competent bodyguard.
This can be read as a stand alone, although we meet a few characters from book one. I am really looking forward to reading the third book in the series. Lynette Eason is a favorite author. I always say I will read anything she writes.

I really enjoyed “Acceptable Risk” by Lynette Eason. This is the 2nd book in the Danger Never Sleeps series.
This book follows Sarah and Gavin. Two soldiers who have suffered from PSTD and also a strange mystery involving them. These characters, along with the other are very well developed. This was a book that I had a very hard time putting down!
Lynette Eason always delivers a good, suspenseful novel that catches you from the beginning and throughout the whole book! She is one of my favorites. I highly recommend this book. It is a good, clean, romantic suspense novel.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
‘His brain was already in combat mode, that zone where everything he did was geared for survival and in protection of the woman sitting beside him.’
I am seriously loving this series by Lynette Eason. When military journalist Sarah Denning is taken hostage overseas, her general father asks former Army Ranger Gavin Black to head up the rescue effort, an extremely dangerous mission. But it works and Sarah is back home in the US but she faces more serious issues now, including a deadly plan. Sarah and Gavin must work together to uncover the truth– if they can manage to stay alive to do so.
Eason hits the ground running and the action and suspense just ratchet up from the first paragraph on, racing toward an exciting and exhilarating ending. Well done! Highly recommended.
*My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion in this review is completely my own.
Acceptable Risk, the second installment in award winning author Lynette Eason’s Danger Never Sleeps series, is an action-packed romantic suspense novel that will keep readers highly invested in the storyline until the very end. Acceptable Risk can be easily read and enjoyed as a standalone novel.
After military journalist Sarah Denning is successfully rescued from a hostage situation in Afghanistan by former Army Ranger Gavin Black and his team, danger continues to follow them home to the States. When looking into her brother’s shocking suicide, things aren’t as they seem, and Sarah and Gavin’s lives are once again in extreme danger.
Lynette Eason has been a longtime favorite romantic suspense author of mine. Readers who enjoy a lot of fast paced action will love this novel, along with the light romantic thread included in the storyline. Romantic suspense is my favorite genre to read and my most-read genre, so I have been looking forward to this book for awhile. Even though I was able to figure out the perpetrator early on in the book, that did not take away my enjoyment of the novel. Now I can’t wait for Active Defense (book 3 in the Danger Never Sleeps series) to release in January 2021.
Acceptable Risk is highly recommended for readers of romantic suspense, especially those who enjoy books by authors such as Dani Pettrey, Lynn H. Blackburn, Rachel Dylan, and Irene Hannon.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Acceptable Risk# is the second book in the Danger Never Sleeps series by Lynette Eason. Lynette is a best selling author. Her books have won the Selah, Carol,Daphne, IRCC Awards and more. The book is a suspense, thriller and romance book. The setting is the Middle East and the United States. Sarah Denning is a military journalist . She moves from one suspense to the next. Sarah is a wonderful character. She always wants the best for those around her. She is concerned when she thinks something is not right and continues to pursue and investigate until she gets to the bottom of things. The complexity of the story keeps coming minute by minute until the story is done. The story leads the reader beyond what they expect and will have a hard time putting the book down. The story is well written. Each character is well described. The reader will always wonder what is ahead of the bend since more is always coming. Thank you to the author, the publisher, netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. I hope this book is really successful.
Cool characters, cool plot I mean what’s not in this book for readers not love? I loved everything about this book.
In my opinion, this is Lynette Eason’s best yet and you’ll not be disappointed! I sure wasn’t.
Sarah and Gavin are excellent characters! Even the villains are well rounded out and made this story a sit on the edge of your set moments.
We also get to take a look at what PTSD might mean for our characters. I can’t imagine what that must be like and for those reasons alone it make me respect the Army folks even more! Whenever I see someone that is in our Army I always like to say Thank you for your service because we have absolutely no idea what they seen and heard.
So buckle up folks because you are going on a wild roller coaster ride and you’ll probably not put this book down until you are done. And, one thing I will tell you this book will leave you thinking, pondering or whatever the case it.
I just can’t say enough about what a fabulous read this was! Oh my
I happily give this book 5 stars wishing I could give it more!
I highly recommend this book.

In Acceptable Risk, book two of the Danger Never Sleeps series, Gavin and Sarah battle unknown forces as they unravel clues to the deaths of soldiers who are battling psychiatric issues.
