When I arrived at Roseborne College searching for my foster brother, I had no idea what I was in for. In the past few weeks, I’ve endured torments both physical and emotional. I’ve looked death in the face. And I’ve made an unnerving discovery that’s left me scrambling to pick up the pieces of the quest I started out on.But the supernatural beings who run this school haven’t conquered me yet. … me yet. I’ll turn the tables on them with my newfound knowledge—and maybe with the help of three temptingly screwed-up guys I never expected to count on.
At least, that’s the plan. Everyone in this place is keeping secrets: me, the guys I might be falling for, and my brother. Secrets big enough to bring us together… or to tear us completely apart. How will I find the strength to continue the fight if it turns out I can’t trust anyone—not even myself?

Book 43 towards my goal of 260! 2.5/5 stars for this YA Fantasy read. I don’t know if I was just slumping or if this book really just didn’t compare to book 1 for me. Felt like not a lot going on in this one. Not sure if I’ll finish the series.
Wow! With the first sentence of the book I was right back at Rosebourne college.
Even after reading the first book and having an idea of what to expect, I was still floored at how the story developed and I cannot wait for more! A must read and reread.
You MUST read books in order. You will miss out on so much!
I received an advanced copy for an honest review.
Wow, I INHALED this book, literally listened to it whenever I could find spare time. I really think the issues I had in book 1 were improved/resolved in this one, its hard to find faults in it. In terms of the story, we get more answers, some were really cool and I totally didnt see it coming! I love when you get a book like that, it doesn’t happen a lot. I really enjoyed the developments with Trix and her 3 guys, especially Elias. I thought their tender moments were fantastic and I couldn’t get enough of it. We get to learn more about the guys backstories, even more about Kade and Trix. I will say I want to punch him in the mouth for his shenanigans. i feel like what Trix thinks he is at the college for is not the real reason. Like him not being a great person and how he treats her is. But thats just my theory. The ending….I instantly had to stop my yard work and figure out when book 3 was releasing. Totally already preordered the ebook (not sure how long the audiobook will be after its release, but I know I will devour that one too).
The narration I thought was great! Jason Clarke’s voice still makes me stop what I am doing and listen to his every syllable haha. I think the nuisances he does for the different guys is great. I thought Lidia did a fabulous job and I will be definitely listening to more of her work in the future. No complaints from me whatsoever!
Great sequel, even better than book 1. Highly recommend on audio and ebook
So, this week 5 Eva Chase books came in and I had such a hard time deciding which one I was gonna read first. I’ve been looking forward to read the Moriarty series for a while now, but last week I read the first book in the cursed studies series and I was very eager to continue that one too, especially after that amazing cliffhanger!
This book continues right where we left and I love that. At some points it felt like a few things were re-explained a little too often, but it most likely felt that way because I was reading this book in one sitting. I started and I just couldn’t stop anymore, especially because Chase really knows how to hand out new pieces of the puzzle at a perfect pace. Every time I could use a little excitement, we got some new info or discovered something interesting. And therefore, even though there wasn’t that much action in this book, it never got boring.
In this book Chase takes the time to really deepen the relationships between all the characters. We get to see much more of the relationship between Trix and her adoptive brother and the relationship between Trix and her three guys get the chance to develop. Within each relationship there are struggles and questions that need to be answered and watching those characters learn and grow and figure out what they want is such a joy!
But, that doesn’t meant the plot stands still. There are some really big and interesting reveals in this book and I really admire Chase for the cleverness of the plot. Everything fits so well, hints in the first book lead somewhere now, some weird things are finally making sense. She must have thought this all out so well!
I can’t wait to read the last book in the trilogy and to figure out how it ends! The cliffhanger of this book at least was very very every exciting!
Trix (Beatrix) knows there is something up with Roseborne College, but she is determine to solve the mystery of why things are the way they are and hopefully save Cade (her foster brother) and the other boys (Jenson, Ryo and Elias) she has a connection with. I loved this dark intriguing book, with it’s mystery of what happened, and the secrets people are keeping. I also are loving the changes in the character, and finding out more about Trix.
We return to Roseborne College, and the mystery that surrounds it. The relationships between Trix and her men are evolving, as we keep getting more glimpses into their histories. No one at the college is an innocent, but as we learn more secrets and backstories it becomes obvious that some are even more monstrous than previously assumed.
The mystery of the college and it’s powers, and how those powers came to be are slowly being uncovered. Like the petals of the roses that surround it, we discover layers upon layers of secrets and lies. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to this twisty, engrossing tale.
And here I thought it could not get any better, or crazier. Ah the secrets running around along with the hot guys and weirder classmates makes Trix life a wild read. I loved the darker feel to an academy story and the mix of paranormal and outright weird. Never quite knew what was around the corner, and sometimes it was scary. There is more character background and why some are all here to try to survive what is going on. But it was well written so much that the dark scary feel came through and kept me reading just to see what would happen next and what Trix would find. Not a ligh read but man it was good.
When Trix first got to Roseborne College searching for her foster brother Cade, she had no idea what she was in for. She’s coped with physical and emotional torments as she made discovery after discovery. Now she is scrambling to pick up the pieces after discovering that supernatural beings are running the school with the help of three screwed-up guys that she had no idea she would end up counting on. Now she has a plan to use all the knowledge she has gained in order to take the place down. The problem is everyone from her brother, the three guys she might be falling for and even herself are keeping secrets. How can she find the strength to continue to fight if it turns out she can’t trust anyone (including herself)?
This was definitely an action-packed second instalment of the series. So many revelations and discoveries as Trix tried to navigate everything in her path and handle all of the changes as they happened. I was definitely reading this story faster and faster as I got further into the story and needed to know what happens next. Well written and very enjoyable, you will become addicted as you read this book. It does end fairly abruptly after a major event so be prepared for some frustration at the end!
