I thought I’d found a way to destroy the malicious power Roseborne College held over all its students—but I seem to have unleashed a host of fresh horrors instead. The school’s ruling spirits are flying free, even more intent on tormenting us. Visions from the worst moments of our pasts are stalking us like ghosts, and my foster brother may have fallen too far into his monstrous nature to be … saved.
It’s all I can do to try to protect myself and the three guys I’ve fallen for here, let alone the rest of the school’s inhabitants. On top of that, the supernatural energies I’ve just discovered in myself have desires all of their own.
As our most awful mistakes consume us, can we hold onto enough faith to keep up the struggle? And how much of myself will I have to sacrifice for a single chance at freedom?
Academy of the Forsaken is the third and final book in a gothic paranormal trilogy with shades of Beauty and the Beast. The last book in the Cursed Studies series was one of my highly anticipated releases this summer and I couldn’t want to get my hands on the audiobook!! I really enjoyed these characters, well that they weren’t always super likable. I mean that in a good way. They definitely have their flaws. They wouldn’t have been at Roseborn if they hadn’t done some pretty horrible things. I thought it was really clever how we got to see some of the backstories in this world. It wasn’t just the characters spilling their guts and letting their walls down. I won’t spoil it, but it makes it feel more real and not a fantasy world kinda moment. I think the climax to me was a little fast and could have been a little more detailed/stretched out but seriously, it is a such a minor critique. Easily still 5 stars across the board. Oh but I mean, it would have been cool to get some resolution on some of the side characters. I did like the resolution with one of the MCs, it felt right ( I kinda saw it coming but it was done really well).
Narration again was on point. I was happy to see more POV changes in this book because Jason does a really great job with the inflections of these guys. I also enjoyed all the various side character voices Lidia and Jason did (like the ghosts/older students). 5/5 stars from me, will be checking out more books by Lidia (already have others on my list of Jason’s hahaha)
Will definitely listen to these again and would recommend. I am excited to see what Eva does next and I am going to definitely check out her backlog since this was my first series I listened of hers.
Ghosts, magic and crazy evil professors out for revenge
In this final installment of this mind bending tale, the students and Trix figure out the drive behind the professors mission. They have been punishing and torturing the students until they wither away, they seem to have a malicious satisfaction to see them drained of any life. They want them to own up to their mistakes, but do not seem to want them to be able to make up for those mistakes.
After Trix has broken down the ritual barrier, this has become a time where the students need to face their demons, actually ghosts, as they must learn to own up to their past mistakes. No excuses allowed.
Trix is in a unique position and she too must learn to stand other own two feet and express her real feelings. This is a story about loyalties, standing up for what is right, love instead of hate, forgiveness instead of vengeance, sacrifice instead of self-preservation. That sometimes you need to step away from the pain and anger and to step towards compassion and affection.
Trix and her guys must work together and trust each other as they work towards better choices as they go forward. They all have great chemistry together and there are some tastefully done detailed sex scenes. An excellent and creative plot that I highly recommend. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
I received an advanced copy of this story for an honest review.
I have loved every book in this series. This series is definitely one to read in order. It is even more special in that it is one you can reread and still find new things you missed.
New insights that didn’t stand out before. I definitely will be reading all 3 book again.
Finishing a series can be bittersweet- the anticipation of learning the answers to questions, seeing how it will all come together is tempered by the dread of knowing the end is coming. This ending is all I could have wanted. Questions are answered, we learn even more about the characters and their backstories, findout how Rosebourne college came to be.
We get a wonderful look into a year after with the epilogue. No book hangover – just bliss. I cannot recommend this book any more highly. If you are a fan of Eva, like reverse harem, or like a good mystery with your romance – this is a must!
Things get grittier due to what happened in the last book. The gothic undertones are let loose and run around just like the rest of the crazy at the college. There were twists, lies, evil spirits, crazy teachers/students and Trix and the ones she loves trying to survive it all. I love how Trix truly comes into her own in this last book in the series. The mood and the overall story and ending were amazing and really kept me reading to see what happened next and how Trix would survive it all. I loved this series sand this conclusion to it all.
Academy of the Fateful is the conclusion of the Cursed Studies series. I have really enjoyed reading these stories, and loved the gothic undertones and elements of Beauty and the Beast. Academy of the Fateful is an adventure of a story filled with secrets and lies, love, sacrifice and redemption. I loved every minute of Trix and her guys, and I would love to see a bonus epilogue or similar in the future to catch up with these characters.
Trix wants to help free the people stuck in Roseborne College, luckily she has Ryo, Jensen, and Elias to help her. How will she feel as their secrets are revealed? There was a reason why they were chosen to be to brought to be tormented by Roseborne College. I loved this conclusion to this intriguing series, Trix certainly had lots of challenges, but she is a strong woman determine to break the curse (and I loved that about her).
Beatrice, or Trix, thought she had found a way to destroy the evil power that is trapping and torturing the students at Roseborne College in the previous book in this trilogy, but all she actually achieve was to let loose different horrors instead. The evil spirits are now flying free and are even more intend upon tormenting the students. Visions from the worst moments of their past stalk them like a ghost and foster brother Cade appears to have gone too far into the monstrous nature to be saved anymore. Can she hold it together enough to protect herself and the three guys she has fallen for let alone save the rest of the students too? Plus the supernatural energies she found in herself have their own aims too. As our most awful mistakes consume us, can we hold onto enough faith to keep up the struggle? And how much of myself will I have to sacrifice for a single chance at freedom?
This is the third book in a series and it makes much more sense if you have read the previous two first. I love the story and the way the evilness in the school is manifested and develops. The way the story finished was really unexpected and then pleasant as it developed further. Well written and very enjoyable, it was easier to read and very addictive. Does contain sexual content and a reverse harem.
