For long-time Durango Fire Department EMT, Ava ‘Blue’ Navarro, her teammates at Station 3 represent a family more loyal than her own. However, when patients start dying on her watch, she draws the attention of local law enforcement. In particular the smooth-talking detective she’s successfully evaded for years, fearing he might stir up her quiet existence. Detective Tony Ramirez considers … considers himself a likable guy, which is why the perpetual cold shoulder from the athletic blonde first responder is confusing. Now he finds himself in charge of a murder investigation that threatens to shake his world both personally and professionally. A situation that won’t earn him any brownie points.
When medical examiner, Calder Stonewall, is called in to assist, it only seems to throw more suspicion Blue’s way, and Tony has to pull out all the stops to prove her innocence while securing her heart.

I’ve read several books written by Freyer Barker; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Amazing as always. I have read the 2 books before this one and have loved them all. Tony and Blue are just amazing and i loved finally getting to see the other side of Blue. In the other books she had just been seen as this tough, one of guys, chick. It was nice to see why she is how she is. And that she found a man and family that are there no matter what, no questions asked. I’d give this book ten stars if i could!

Blue
Ava “Blue” has avoided Tony cuz he’s just her type. With a heart break guaranteed.
Tony is a stand up guy (he missed with some other ladies) but when he’s tasked with absolving Blue, can he?
There’s a ton of suspense and steam.
Tony is a detective, soon-to-be former playboy who’s had his eye on Blue for a while, and finally has a chance to make his move. He’s relentless, and worms his way into her life and eventually her heart. Blue, an EMT, is trying with Tony, but her past is about to catch up to her. She has secrets, and some trouble opening up and completely trusting Tony. After several of her patients die of a drug overdose, a vial is found in her go bag, but who’s setting her up? From previous books, I knew Blue as a competent co-worker and great friend to her crew, but had no idea of the horrible things that had happened to her earlier in her life. I’ve been hot for Tony since his first appearance in this series. Fairly early in the book, I had correctly guessed who was setting Blue up. But boy was I wrong about the why! This is a fast-paced book, full of action and suspense, a good romantic tale, and a very sexy but sensitive alpha male. Every single book from this author is better than the last.

Absolving Blue is the fourth book in the On Call series, part of the multi-author Police and Fire: Operation Alpha series.
The characters of Blue and Tony are well developed, intelligent, and have great chemistry together. The storyline is interesting and well written, with secrets, unexplained deaths, revenge, suspense, intrigue, and romance.
I loved this romantic suspense story and would love to read more books in this series.
The Police and Fire:Operation Alpha is a winner if you like a variety of great authors writing together in a world you enjoy.
Freya Barker’s contribution is a wonderful addition to this world. With a heroine that has a haunted past and a hero who has felt something is missing for a while, we get to travel on a beautiful journey with a great couple.
Great storyline, wonderful supporting cast and an appearance by our favorite coroner.
This was an easy read which I really enjoyed. I wouldn’t say it was fast paced or action packed but this made no difference it kept me well entertained and wanting to read more. At the start you don’t really get a feel for what direction the book is going to go this emerges gradually. Once the plot was revealed there was no instant ” Ah hah” moment and knowing who the bad guy was. Ava (aka Blue), a paramedic has apparently been setup and it’s up to Tony, a detective who has pretty much wanted to get together with her for a long while, to try and prove her innonence. There are a couple of twists along the way which have to say I didn’t see coming. The only thing lacking for me was follow up on what happened with one of the perps.
Blue is one strong and powerful character. She is tough in more ways than one. This is a very engaging, exciting and entertaining story that really tells a heck of a story. Well written and having a great pace it was easy to get lost in this story.

I have loved this series and every book in it and finally we get the story of two of the secondary characters the very stand offish paramedic Ava “Blue” Navarro and Tony Ramirez the detective who definitely seem to be the love and leave them kind of guy
Blue can’t understand what is going on when a number of her patients die when there is no reason why they should she has delivered them safe and sound to the hospital and then they die and the worse thing is that the man that is tasked with the investigation is Detective Tony Ramirez a ma she has given the cold shoulder to for quite a while. When Blue rescues stray dog Tony sees his chance and uses the dog to form a bond between then as they share the custody across their shifts. With a guest appearance from Calder Stonewall (from Susan Stokers Men of Honor series) as he is brought in with his medical examiner role to solve the mysteries deaths things are finally solved Will Blue finally admit her feelings for Tony and can they get a future together.
Another great book to the series! The author once again brings strong characters and an intriguing story line. This is Ave”Blue”‘ and Tony’s story. She does a great job pulling you in with the mystery, drama and angst. I loved watching the sparks fly between them and enjoyed the dialogue. The story is well written, flows fluidly and is an entertaining read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
The On Call series has become a favorite of mine, and with each new installment thus far, I fall further in love with Freya’s whole cast of characters—humans and animals!
Needless to say, I’m so happy that Tony Ramirez gets his happily ever after—apparently, no one is immune to where Cupid aims his arrow—not even a smoking hot, swoon-worthy, sexy-as-sin Latino detective! Yes, ladies, the Durango police department’s player extraordinaire is off the market, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Ava “Blue” Navarro is an EMT for Durango’s fire department and does just fine working and dealing with the guys in the firehouse on a daily basis. She may be pretty and tiny, but she certainly has the respect of her co-workers. Ava is also the focus of Tony’s attention.
There’s a reason Ava’s nickname is Blue, and it has nothing to do with the color of her eyes or her hair, which is blonde anyway. Just like so many of Freya’s characters, Ava has one helluva past, one that refuses to stay just where she left it.
This is where the suspense starts, the alpha heroes spin out of the telephone booths, chicken taco lessons are taught, and every bit of goodness, tenacity, strength, and loyalty explodes from the pages when someone in Durango is threatened or in harm’s way or needs some saving in more ways than one.
Tony and Ava are fantastic together. Their chemistry and understanding of each other’s job really goes a long way in making their relationship work. And let’s face it, Tony is just plain HOT!
Freya Barker conjures up some of the most genuine and likeable characters I’ve ever read, whether they’re the MCs or part of her brilliant supporting cast. She brings out their strengths, their weaknesses, and sometimes puts them through the wringer, but the best part is that in some capacity or another, they all find their way into every storyline. This is what world building is all about.
When I open up any one of Freya’s books, it feels like I’ve come home to visit my old friends, and then get to meet a new one—every single time, and Absolving Blue is no exception. Tony and Ava’s story is a perfect edition to this incredible series, and I can’t recommend it enough. Five stars for another spectacular read from the fabulous Freya Barker.
Wow loved Blue and Tony’s story. Can’t wait for the next book. Will recommend all the books in the series as well as the MC series. Good people, great read!
Ava and Tony finally get their own book after we got to know them via the previous books and buy are we not disappointed! After many attempts at get Ava’s attention and now neither have any choice in it as death appears to be following Ava and no one knows why or by who so Tony has his work cut out. Nothing beats a feisty woman who doesn’t like to give an inch even if she likes a guy, so there are plenty of laughs as they clash, sighs when she finally starts to let him in, worry as to who is behind everything and anticipation to what will happen next!
What an awesome story. I could not put the book down. So many things happening. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. I was starving and couldn’t put it down long enough for food. Blue/Ava is a paramedic with the Durango Fire Department. Tony is a detective with the Dunrango PD, Blue has given Tony the cold shoulder since they were introduced and so he stayed away from her until now. I love their story. Blue’s patients die over a three week period and she doesn’t understand why. When a family asks for a second coroner to look at his fathers death evidence of foul play arises. As more people die Blue becomes the main suspect. Tony is determined to prove her innocence. There is more at play than anyone realizes. Highly suspenseful and action packed. Don’t miss out on this story.

I love this series! Each book is a standalone but interconnected. Well written, great characters and plot.
I loved the way Freya Barker brought together these unique characters, Tony and Blue. As always, the story twisted and turned, holding my attention from the beginning to the end. Freya’s words sucked me in, as they always do, and had me turning pages until the end.
If you’re looking for a great read, grab this story. Blue, as all Freya’s heroine’s are, is strong but longs for love. And Tony is that alpha male that Freya is so great at writing.
I absolutely loved this latest book in the On Call series!!! Tony is a detective with the Durango Police Department, he has the reputation of a player but underneath all of that cockiness lies a man with a big heart and loves fiercely. Ava (Blue) is a paramedic in Durango. She is fiercely independent and loves her work crew like they are her family and in her eyes they are. Ava and Tony know each other through their jobs, she has heard about his reputation and keeps her distance. Tony really likes Ava and wishes that she would give him a chance to show her that what people say isn’t necessarily true. When patients that Ava takes care of start to die mysteriously, Tony isn’t happy that she is their prime suspect and wants to protect her with all that he has. The more time they spend together the more they start to fall for one another. Can Tony figure out what is going on before someone gets hurt? I loved this book so much, I was hooked from beginning to end. Its a well written story filled with hot romance, action, and suspense that grabs a hold of you and doesn’t let you go. I highly recommend this story to all and I can’t wait to read what this talented author comes out with next. Well done!!!!
Who are Blue, Sumo, Benny, Cheddar, Evan, Hog, Roadkill, and Cap? What do they all do for a living? I like Author’s spunk. Who are Tony and Lissie? What do they do for a living? What happens when people suddenly start dying? What do people think is going on? Why? Who are Trent and Trent? What do we learn about each of them? Who is Jen? What I learned over the course of the story surprised me greatly! Read and see why! I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Seriously Freya Barker delivers exceptional books each time over and over. Suspence, intrigue and romane make a exciting book indeed and this is no exception.
Blue is a paramedic she in her own right is as good as the men, they are family.
Tony is a detective and has known Blue for some time but she hasnt given him the time. But when it comes to light that her patients are dying he steps up to the plate.
Without to many spoilers this really is a must read, both characters are lovely and i know you will fall in love with them both
