Declan James was the perfect guy. He was sweet. Charming. Caring. Until he wasn’t. Fourteen years ago, his actions tore apart my family. He ruined my sister’s life and nothing was ever the same again. But now, more than a decade later, he’s back. When he walks into my office, asking for my help, I’m shocked, but nothing prepares me for what I’m about to learn. I see how far he’s gone to redeem … he’s gone to redeem himself and I know that he’s changed. I also know that, as a priest, he’s more off limits than ever.
If I help him, my family will never forgive me.
If I fall in love with him, I will never forgive myself.

5 Absolutely Declan Filled Stars
Missy Johnson has done it do me again! Absolution isn’t like her previous ones where I’m bawling my eyes out. But, I was still hooked and finished it in one afternoon.
When Hannah was 10 her older sister met a guy and in the end it killed her. Her family was never the same. Nobody was the same.
14yrs later Hannah is now working at Child Protection Services. It’s not an easy job and most people don’t last long term due to the mental stress of it. Hannah is no different. But, with what happened to her sister and family Hannah won’t give up.
When she meets with a mother and daughter, Hannah hopes this will be the last time. But, like the few times she’s met them before she isn’t too sure. Then she gets the call she hates. The mother got killed and he daughter is with the family priest.
Hannah was going to do whatever it took to make things better for this beautiful girl who’s had a bad start. Then, the priest walks in and she sees red. For a lil bit she thought he looked familiar but couldn’t picture him. But, then it does. Declan James… The guy who ruined her families lives.
Hannah wants to walk right on out. But, looking in his eyes she realizes maybe he’s not the same monster he once was. She knows he’s a priest and has been since he got out of jail all those years ago. Hannah knows she shouldn’t help him bc of who he is. But, the more time she has to spend near him the more messed up in her head and heart get. How could the guy she knows now do what he did to her sister.
Declan James has paid for his crime. He then turned his life around and became a priest. He’s stayed out of trouble since the night he can’t remember. When Amanda shows up at his church wth her daughter and drops a bombshell on him. Made him praise if anything ever happens to her for him care for the young girl.
When Amanda gets killed he will do whatever it takes to keep his promise. With her crying and attached to him he hopes the person who comes from CPS won’t look too far in his past. Then she shows up. Cecily’s younger sister Hannah.
Declan will do anything to show Hannah who he really is. But, she’s not making it easy on him one bit. Not that he blames her. If that wasn’t bad enough, she’s starting to make him feel things. Things that make him question his faith. Make him question everything in his life.
This was such a great read. My heart hurt for Deacon pretty much instantly. From the minute he explained what happened, I knew something was sketchy and didn’t add up. Thats just me though. As much as I wanted to like Hannah I wanted to smack her for most of the book. She played way too many games. One minute she trusted him, the next she didn’t. I get her heart and mind are playing tricks on her. But, don’t break the rules for someone you don’t trust I’m just saying. But, other than that Missy killed it. Again!! And, here I am again waiting for Missy to release her next book.
