Amelia Cornwall, an absentminded music instructor, has been dismissed without notice from her position at the orphanage, because they’ve completely run out of funds. If it wasn’t for a happenstance peek at a newspaper clipping, advertising the services of the Boomtown Mail Order Brides Company, she might very well have spent her next night on the street.Cattle rancher Nathan Jagger has recently … recently taken custody of a rambunctious niece and nephew in desperate need of a woman’s nurturing and guidance. When a fellow cowpoke recommends sending off for a mail-order bride, he sees an opportunity to skip the troublesome interview process and provide them with a nanny, mother, and everything else all at once, leaving him free to return to his roping and ranching.
It’s a tidy little marriage contract that’ll provide the perfect solution to both Amelia and Nathan’s problems — or at least that’s the plan. But everyone knows what they say about best-laid plans!

This is the first book by Jo Grafford that I have read. I thought it was a very sweet book with likable characters. It was a fast and easy read and very short so it was easily read in a couple hours. I liked how the couple meet and feel in love and were willing to take on the care of four children that weren’t their own. I also loved how the author showed how the characters handled a miscarriage by having them grow closer together and loving each other more. It was a very sweet story.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Loved this book!!! Amelia and Nathan are great together!! All of the kids are just icing on the cake! I have to admit, Hitch is my favorite! Can’t wait to see what all he might be up to later on!! Can’t tell my favorite part without giving something away, so I won’t!! LOVE this!!! Can’t wait for the next one!! Makes me want to ride in a Pullman, though!!

Amelia needs a new place to live. Without possessions or any money she finds herself of the doorstep of the Boomtown Mail Order Brides company. Luckily she got some help from a little boy. Before she knows it she’s on her way to her new husband Nathan to take care of his niece and nephew. And then the adventure starts.
I loved this story, all the characters, the love between them. Amelia forgetting and the others ‘helping’ her. Only missed some explanation when Nathan goes after her but it is a really entertaining story. Great to see some the other couples make a appearance.
Wonderfully sweet and touching. I adored it

Wonderful book with Amelia who has grown up in a orphanage who as she got older taught music until the orphanage ran out of money and she was dismissed. She decides to become a mail order bride and gets matched with Nathan who is raising her orphaned nephew and niece. There are other twists in this story which makes it interesting and very touching. Loved this sweet romance.
A truly wonderful story that won my heart from the first page. Amelia Cornwell had been desperate when she lost her job at the orphanage. She had been left there when she was three and in the last few years had been a music teacher. What was she to do? Seeing an ad for a mail order bride, she signed up and was off the next day on a train heading to Headstone, Arizona!
What she didn’t expect was the little surprise that hid in her train compartment! Let’s just say Hitch and Caitlyn who I loved! There would be some explaining to do to her new husband! But fate threw in a few wrinkles when the train was stopped by outlaws! What could happen next?
When her soon to be husband Nathan Jagger came to pick her up at the train station and found out she’d been kidnapped…. Well the journey continues and Nathan was so handsome and lovable so it seemed with Amelia being beautiful and generous they would make a great match!
Jo Grafford’s writing is flawless and the story flowed quickly as she created her delightful characters that made you want to go meet them!! I cannot wait to read more!! Just Perfect!!
I loved this book! A woman raised in an orphanage went to be a mail-order bride to a big cattle rancher! I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance books.
It is wonderful to see great things happen for Amelia because she has such a wonderful heart. As someone who always seems to have something half completed lying around, I love that trait in Amelia. She is so interested in helping others that she tends to forget what she has going right then. The perfect groom was certainly waiting for her. Nathan also has a giving heart. He never hesitates to take in his niece and nephew or the two children who show up with Amelia. There is plenty of action to keep you reading.
If you haven’t already done so, read this wonderful, amazing and swoony romance by Jo Grafford. I’ve been in love with this series since book 1 and every single one of the book is just so perfect for me. Oh my goodness I just can’t get enough of the series and literally suggesting more stories for this series. I hope it never ends. LoL.
Even though I have read the other books in this series, I still enjoy each one individually! What a leap of faith for each of these women to go to the wilds of Arizona from a more organized and socialized East Coast existence to be a mail order bride! Each one has had specific circumstances that has brought them to this point of “desperation” but has also led them to their special someone! Amelia is no different. She already is an orphan who has lived in an orphanage all her life and is now their music teacher but in one day, she has been let go and turned out on the street. She has nowhere to go until she sees an advertisement for mail order brides. I can completely understand her desperation since there aren’t many options for women in those days. Her adventures going to Arizona are entertaining and then she gets there and is immediately taken hostage! I really enjoyed her intended husband, Nathan too. Both of them together were fantastic! I loved the character, Hitch! You’ll have to read it to learn who he is! A sweet story and great addition to this series
What a delightful sweet story! Read from start to finish in one sitting, the characters are charming with enough inner emotional turmoil to keep them believable. The romance is sweet and the interaction with the kids is wonderful
I loved this mail order story of an orphan raised in an orphanage and then taught music until she was let go. She decides to be a mail order bride. On the train two orphans stow away in her quarters, there is a robbery, a rescue and unexpected love. There are other surprises too. I received a complimentary copy and this review is voluntary.
The characters were good, but the story went from one implausible situation to another.
I really enjoyed this story. This was a quick read. The story was riveting. I am looking forward to the next book.
Great story with wonderful characters. A story of fairytale proportions. Love and laughter even during the dark times.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Jo Grafford has penned a sweet, heart warming story full of lovable and believable characters. This is Amelia and Nathan’s story and is a story with lots of action including a train robbery, a kidnapping and rescue, the discovery of some long lost family, an adoption and the rescue of a bankrupt orphanage. This is a story that has no slow or boring moments. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it; I know you will enjoy it.
Such a sweet unusual story. One orphaned Music Teacher finds herself homeless and penniless in the same day. Then she discovers an ad for Mail-order brides. Within 24 hours she went from being alone and no where to live, to having money to purchase a carryon bag, clothes and is placed on a train on her way to meet her Ranch owner soon-to-be husband. But nothing turns out they way you expect. If you like clean mail-order bride themed books, you will find a gem in ‘Absentminded Amelia’.
