Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother’s bedside. She’s been stricken with something the old-timers call “Milk Sickness.”“My baby boy…” she whispers before dying.Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother’s fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire. When the … work of a vampire.
When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, “henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…” Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.
While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.
Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth and near-death of our nation.

Way better than the movie! Grahame-Smith blends history and fantasy into an astounding piece of historical-fiction. This was a very fun read for a person who is a bookworm AND History teacher.
I did enjoy this and the story is clever, engaging, and delivers a great twist on history, but I missed the snarky humor Seth showed in his book like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Interesting and amusing piece of historical fiction. What’s most intriguing is that most of the characters are based on real people (and many events are real too).
Forget the subpar movie, read the book! So much better, and, like the also exceptional World War Z, told in a fashion that is much better suited to the material than it’s film counterpart.
I love history and I LOVE Sci-Fi and this book has both. Ok yeah so Abraham Lincoln did NOT fight Vampires, but it was really REALLY awesome how he explained how the vampires were there and stuff. Lol!! Not the best review, but really if you want entertainment and see the cool historical pics with some vampires thrown in here and there then read …
I bought this book without knowing much about it, or having seen the movie. I expected it to be a fantastical, campy read. I was delightedly surprised to find it a very serious look at an alternative history. It is in to the author’s credit, that one can read what on the face, seems like an absurd premise, and end the book thinking that that …
Holy s***, though, have you guys seen the movie for this book?!
I know it looks like one of those ridiculous stories that you watch once and just forget about, but allow me to explain how great this thing is.
Written by Seth Grahame-Smith of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies fame, the book follows a man who is currently editing the unabridged, …
This book will surprise you. It’s not at all what you think, and after reading about it, caught my interest. Pick it up, you won’t be sorry.
In DC earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon at one of the few historical sites I’d not yet visited: Ford’s Theater. Browsing through the gift shop, my eyes fell on a “staff pic”: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith. It’s not my usual fare. There are definite elements of fantasy and reality is often …
I was really surprised by this book. I thought it was going to be some sort of light-hearted, dark humor reading, but instead I got myself a full-fledged horror novel!
This book is written from the point of view of someone who found and read the secret diaries of Abraham Lincoln, old and worn leather-bound journals depicting the secret life of …
I heard about this book when it first came out by a woman that I worked with at the time. She desperately wanted me to get the book so that she could borrow it. When I learned that it was becoming a movie, I knew that I definitely had to get the book.
My husband read Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter in one day. He just couldn’t stop reading. …
