They were on their way to being a real family…until she came into their lives.Expecting their first baby, Judd and Evette McGlin are thrilled at the prospect of becoming parents. But their marriage faces the ultimate test when Judd learns he already has a child: a six-year-old bi-racial daughter, born amid secrets and lies. Now, Evette must decide if she can accept the child—and forgive Judd. … forgive Judd. She thought she was open-minded—until hidden prejudices threaten the future of an innocent little girl, Evette’s marriage, and the very notion of the woman she’s believed herself to be. It was a really good true to life scenario. The theme was a good inspiration for those who might be dealing with a similar situation.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book given it was advertised as a free Kindle Buffet “Christian” selection. However, I was pleasantly surprised and read it every chance I got until done. The story line was interesting with well-developed characters that felt real. The racial and socioeconomic undertones were handled without cliches and in a very sincere manner. I loved it.
Very sweet story!
I didn’t want to put this book down! I loved reading the “human” thoughts that fill our minds daily. Seeing that we need to look for God’s leading in our lives is so important for peace of mind.
Having bi-racial friends, this showed how difficult living with people’s prejudices can effect more than just the person. I fell in love with Jolie and wished she could come and visit me! Oh, that’s right, she did!!!
I loved the message and the characters are wonderful.
Thought it would be better. The struggle was real but too much repetitive internal angst. Slow moving.
Realistic family situation that exhibits our test of faith and made me question whether my faith was as strong.
A light enjoyable read! However, there are a few twists and turns.
This was a great read. Enjoyed it a lot.
Great author, and important subject matter very well presented.
I enjoy her writing so much. Each one challenges me to mature in my thinking.
A little too pat ending, but the story was very good. The characters were very real.
Book was different which could happen to anyone, character coming around to love Jolie as her own.
Loved the book! You really should read it if you haven’t yet! Realistic and heart rendering!
Very good writing!
First book I have read that the story line is totally different from any other book I have read and made me think of my prejudices. I would think I was not prejudice until I read this book and made me think how I would handle the situation in this book. Very good book and a good book to have discussions on!
Enjoyed. Have recommended to others
This was an excellent book. The characters were well-developed. It was a story of people coming to terms with their weaknesses and recognizing their flaws. People doing the right thing, maybe for a wrong reason, but finding joy and love in the process. Giving up, giving in and letting God work all things together for good in his timing. I was touched and inspired by this book.
I had a very hard time putting this book down. I loved the way God showed his love through the characters. I didn’t want the story to end!
