For Nolwenn witch Talaith, a bad day begins with being dragged from bed by an angry mob intent on her crispy end and culminates in rescue by–wait for it–a silver-maned dragon. Existence as a hated outcast is nothing new for a woman with such powerful secrets. The dragon, though? A tad unusual. This one has a human form to die for, and knows it. According to dragon law, Talaith is now … now his property, for pleasure. . .or otherwise. But if Lord Arrogance thinks she’s the kind of damsel to acquiesce without a word, he’s in for a surprise. . .
Is the woman never silent? Briec the Mighty knew the moment he laid eyes on Talaith that she would be his, but he’d counted on tongue-lashings of an altogether different sort. It’s embarrassing, really, that it isn’t this outspoken female’s magicks that have the realm’s greatest dragon in her thrall. No, Briec has been spellbound by something altogether different–and if he doesn’t tread carefully, what he doesn’t know about human women could well be the undoing of his entire race. . .

About a Dragon (Dragon Kin #2) by G.A. Aiken – Gore and sarcasm seem to be the common threads in this series. I have no idea why I find it so entertaining, but I totally enjoyed this one! I’m slightly worried that the meddling gods in this book bitten off more than they can chew by involving this family in their fight! Happy Reading!
Just what any witch about to be burnt at stake needs – a knight in shining armour. Except that this knight happens to have wings and scales and fangs in one form and truly buff abs in the other – and an ego that begs to be punctured. How else is a witch to show her thanks for the rescue but to volunteer to do the puncturing as much as needed, for as long as needed? The sparks between Talaith and Briec owe nothing to the fiery stake and everything to their highly vocal discussions. This was so fun and funny – I laughed through every argument. Who knew that debating could be so sultry?!
Having an off-beat sense of humor I find almost all of G.A. Aiken’s Dragonkin books hilarious. Her heroines are tough and the heroes even tougher. Good, strong characters and clever plots in a fantasy world. Her books are not for everyone, but she writes well and is very entertaining. The central characters her all appear in subsequent books as well, so to follow the occasionally convoluted secondary stories about the ‘gods’ of the world, read them in order. Yes they are sort of romances, but each book also continues the backstory on the gods and other characters.
Loved this book & the whole series.
Great read
Lots of fun.
No one does it better than G. A. Aiken. Be prepared to laugh out loud!
Talaith is being hung for being a witch when Briec the Mighty rescues her. He doesn’t let her go though. He plans to keep her until he tires of her but he never does. She amuses him and he loves arguing with her but he knows she is hiding things from him.
This book started slow with Talaith and Briec constantly arguing and denying each others feelings. Once the truth comes out the story really picks up and a lot of key things happen. I like how Talaith is strong and pretty deadly. Briec was a thick headed and arrogant dragon who thinks everyone should fall at his feet. Talaith really shows him the truth though. My biggest issues with this book was the constant arguments between these two. It got a little annoying.
I really can’t wait to see how Gwenvael handles The Beast!
Briec the Mighty would never admit it, not even to himself, but he is curious about his brothers mating to a human. As a dragon shifter and royalty, he doesn’t need to dabble with a mere human but he finds himself intrigued by town pariah Taliath. Magick swirls around her, but from what he can tell she is without any powers.
Nolwenn Witch Talaith is biding time until she is called upon from the goddess. The last sixteen years she has been punished, but when Briec takes her. Briec has no idea about her past and frankly he doesn’t care, he plans to have her until he is ready to let her go. Taliath though does not seem appreciative of his efforts and has no qualms about letting him know, problem is all her ranting just makes Briec ant her more.
Loved this, a few laugh out loud moments and definitely intrigue for the next book. Briec is arrogant and at times can’t understand why Talaith just doesn’t agree to do whatever he wants. Battle of the wills, can’t wait for mor
