This is a story about a city. As with all others, it’s a place of violence. There are murderers, and they live among us.
This is also a tale about a couple — sometimes friends, occasionally lovers, but always partners. Dan and Olivia are fighting modern battles; the ones parents have over a lack of money, time or peace.
An escalating serial killer terrifies the streets and homes. The body count rises as their relationship crumbles. Society reveals its dark side, and no one is safe. Dan and Olivia experience this first-hand as danger closes in.
Will Abel’s reign of terror ever end?
Who will live, and who will die?

This novel is like a literary river. Flowing smoothly along, the tale of Daniel & Olivia unfolds & we follow their everyday battles with stress, parenting & relationship issues. Then, like a deep undercurrent, the crimes of Abel slowly plunge the city into panic as he carries out the most heinous of crimes. As the dots are joined & the tale climaxes, a cleverly drawn twist will have you clamouring to the surface, glad that you swam with the tide. I devoured this in one sitting & have already purchased another book by the author.
At first perhaps a little confusing and maybe even a little disconnected but read on. You will realize Its about relationships and also about finding one’s self. Add to this the psychological killer amongst the seemingly normal people of the world and you have a great story. Can you guess who the killer is? Great ending!
Overall, I didn’t care for this book. Almost every chapter was written from a different character’s perspective & it’s too easy to forget who they are. It’s set in the UK, so a lot of terms are completely different from America. The author writes pretty staccato-fashion, which is typical for a male…not enough emotion. And there was a lot of sexual situations. But the ending was a shocker!
I loved this book. It’s an original plot and very well written. the characters are well developed and the question of WHO IS ABEL kept me guessing throughout. Nice job of writing an ending that’s satisfying and raises the hairs on the back of your neck.
I am not a fan of books containing more than one book. Usually, the sequels are less than satisfying, and the series usually ends up with a whimper. It always seems as though the author lost interest in the story.
Having said that, I am Glad that I took a chance with this series. I fell in love with the main characters, no small feat. The action was non stop, and while the ending was a bit predictable, was still satisfying.
A great rainy day read.
A good twist in the tail at the end but I had wondered if that was going to happen!
I often “forget” characters from books but not this one…..I shall read this one again really caught me off quard
I couldn’t finish this one.
Great ending!!!!!
Ending is WOW!! Exceptional read. Would highly recommend.
Hard to get into at first. Quite a dysfunctional family. The ending was the best part of the story.
Was an ok read but too predictable.
Like the twist at the end!
Loved the way it ended
I liked it but found I had to pay attention as its hard to follow. I listened on audio
Had to reread ending twice as I was so stunned. Book still haunts me. LOVED IT.
This book kept my interest to the end.
You will think you have it all figured out.But no you won’t. In your mind you keep saying I know were this is going.WRONG. At the end you said I thought so but then there it is the answer.
I could not get into the book after reading 25% I decided not to finish it.
I am so impressed with Ross Greenwood! This is the second book I have read that he has written. I like the mix of funny and demented characters. I am not quite finished, with it but so, far, so good. I recommend this book.
