Abduction of a Highland Rose: Historical Scottish Romance Novel
by Fiona Faris
Abduction of a Highland Rose is a great Scottish historical romance story, is an exciting book and a remarkable experience. A tale that’s as riveting as it is captivating storyline pulls the reader in; nail-biting in one instance, then heart pounding the next. A real page-turner; fast-paced, action-packed story that is filled with intriguing whirlwind of twists and turns in the plot that keeps the story moving forward and a few unexpected surprises. WOW!! The drama, the fear, and mystery, danger and suspense steadily increase; as the tension spirals and the plot thickens, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, wanting to see what happened next; a remarkable experience and a very enjoyable read.
An enjoyable Highland Romance; with well-developed, complex and believable characters that are well-described with distinct personalities, making the storyline more intriguing. Our heroin; a rare beauty that is strong, and an independent female; the clan’s maiden and a naïve, dutiful daughter that has a mind of her own and fierce attitude. Our hero; has a kind soul, takes the protection of his clan to heart seriously; is a strong and handsome warrior, one of the best fighters in the clan with a ruthless barbarian attitude; rescuing our heroin and wanting peace. The two-main character together, are a force to be reckoned with, and play off one another perfectly.
I loved that the author, Fiona Faris, was able to write this story being in the Scottish brogue accent; which, makes it a little confusing and harder to read, at first that really adds a touch of character to the book. The Scottish brogue accent keeps the reader interested and underwrites the feel of the book, as if the reader is transported back in time and listening to the story, as the story unfolds. Well done, I could not put it down, and read it a second time, I loved it so much!! I was gifted a copy and thoroughly enjoyed reading Abduction of a Highland Rose; Ms. Fiona Faris, did an amazing job bringing this read to life flawlessly, thank you for sharing this little gem with us; therefore, I must deliver Fiona Faris and this book a 5-start rating. Fantastic job Fiona.
Freya Erskine was kidnapped by two men of the Murray Clan they had already kidnapped four other girls from the Erskine Clan. The Murray Clan had been decimated by smallpox and only about 40 men survived. Donald Murray who had declared himself Laird of the Clan. He decided to rape Freya, when Alexander heard what was going on in the dungeon he went down and stopped Donald from raping Freya. He later discovered that Donald was going to take Freya to his chambers and rape her. He broke her out of the dungeon and took off to look for soldiers that would help him kill Donald and restore the Murray Clan and its honor. To find out what happens you must read the book. There are only a few sexual situations if they should bother you.
Scottish Highlander Adventure!
Spine tingling tale of betrayal, treachery, and deceit among Scotland’s Clans and one man’s vision of peace. Add some romance and it was impossible not to be drawn into the story. The characters are well written and believable. I truly enjoyed reading this book. I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review. Definitely worth reading. Enjoy!
I received this book as an ARC from the author. It was a fast paced, action packed story and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t imagine what it must have been like living in a Highland clan back in those times. They certainly had much different every day worries than we have today! I love Freya, she’s a strong, independent female lead character and Andrew is the strong handsome warrior. The characters are well-described and well-developed. I love the story being written with the Scottish accent or brogue. It does make it a little harder to read but really makes yoy feel as if you transported back in time and listening as the story unfolds. The book is fast paced and well-written. A great Scottish historical romance story and a very enjoyable read.
From a tragic beginning hope springs eternal. A warrior hell bent on domination and destruction and another with a conscience looking for redemption. Another book from Fiona that has you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what could possibly happen next. So many twists and turns until love conquers all. Andrew and Freya definitely deserved their happy ever after.
Fiona continues to leave me in awe of her gifts of writing and the ability to create a story so real that you feel part of the entire book from beginning to end. This again was a page turner from beginning to end. A story of betrayal, suspense, love and honor, with enough twists, turns action and heartbreak to keep you glued to the pages.
Another great book by Fiona Faris

i loved that book so bad!! and i am not usually a historic type of reader but it had me hooked even at the last second of the book.I can’t wait for the author to have more books like that!
I received this book as an ARC and freely give this review. I loved Andrew and Freya and the struggles that they faced . Chief Donald Murry of Clan Murry leads attacks on Clan Erskine, murdering most of the men, pillaging and kidnapping most of the young maidens. Clan Murry has been almost wiped out by a disease. Andrew is a mighty warrior and second only to the Chief. Freya is of Clan Erskine and becomes aware of the situation. She sets out to find out what is happening and ends up captured herself. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.
Another great Highland read from Faris. Lovable characters and an interesting plot make this a romantically-satisfying story.
Freya of the Erskine lowlands clan and daughter of the laird is captured by the highland Murray Clan and Andrew is her guard the interaction between these two was what kept me turning pages. A well-written story that I enjoyed reading.
This is a great story. Girls have been taken from surrounding clans and whole villages destroyed. But the honor of a true warrior and hero decides that his Chief has gone too far and decides to take matters into his hand to change the tide, to bring pride to the Murray name again. The twists and turns, the highland feel in the words and environment and the relationship between the characters come together to make a great story. Great read … especially after getting back into the habit of reading the characters’ accent.
ONE INCREDIBLY DELIGHTFUL READ!!!
Wow! Talk about crossed wires. This is one action packed, fast paced, nailbiting, heart pounding, pulse racing, smooth flowing, page turning tale that’s as riveting as it is captivating. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few unexpected surprises around every corner make for remarkable experience. The story storyline pulls you in. The drama, fear, mystery, danger and suspense increases steadily as the tension spirals while the plot thickens. The characters are complex and believable. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Fiona did an amazing job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Fiona, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
This is a whirlwind story of kidnapping, pillaging, murder and romance under the direst of circumstances. Freya is an Erskine clan maiden of the lowlands. She is a dutiful daughter and a rare beauty. She has a mind of her own and an independent but fierce attitude. She is abducted by the chief of the Murray clan. Donald is a ruthless barbarian intent on ruling by might, intimidation and fear. He is pillaging neighboring clans, burning them to the ground and killing all the male inhabitants in order to steal all the maidens to mate with his warriors and increase their clan population. But there is unrest in that clan. Andrew is such a warrior. He saves Freya from Donald who was going to rape her. He arranged to rally support to kill Donald to redeem the Murray name and work towards peace. But Andrew is in for the biggest betrayal of his life. This is an exciting action and adventure story filled with twists and turns in the plot. The characters are well written and have a developed personality that make them distinct from one another. The storyline is about rescuing the Erskine maidens, kill the Murray chief and bring peace to the clans in the area. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
