My name is Zoe McKinley. I have a boring life, an awful job, and a boss that throws staplers at my head. What could be worse?
How about being abducted by Aliens?
Being dragged through a mirror, naked and screaming, onto an extraterrestrial ship was bad. Finding out I had been sold to a huge alien male who looks like the Devil was worse. But learning he wanted to trade me to an intergalactic … an intergalactic petting zoo was the worst of all!
Now I’m whizzing through the galaxy with a robot butler, a trio of nib-nibs (they’re like tiny green monkeys) and one huge, muscular, and very grumpy alien. The clothing they gave me shows all my lady-bits, the food-sim makes banana cream pie that tastes like sauerkraut, and Sarden, my captor, is too hot to stay mad at, even if he is a jerk.
In fact, I think I might be falling for him.
What’s a girl to do? It’s all in a day’s work when you’ve been…Abducted.
Abducted is Book 1 in my Alien Mate Index series.
It is a plus-sized novel–140,000 words long
The Alien Mate Index–Learn more
From the pen of Evangeline Anderson, the writer who brought you Brides of the Kindred, comes a new race of Alien warriors…twelve races, to be exact.
Everyone thinks that life just evolved on Earth—
Wrong.
Our planet, and twelve others, all capable of supporting Terran life, was seeded by the Ancient Ones.
Then Earth was locked away, kept safe in the cocoon of our ozone layer. But now there’s a gaping hole in our security blanket and guess who’s coming to dinner?
That’s right—the Alien warriors of the Twelve Peoples—also descended from the Ancient Ones, are looking for mates and Earth girls are their first choice.
The Vorn are feared throughout the galaxy. Savage, horned warriors, these males can be surprisingly gentle to the females they choose to bond with.
Denarins come in pairs—two muscular males who share a psychic bond… and feel the need to share one woman as well.
The Majorans worship their females as goddesses, the very color of their skin changing with their bonded mate’s mood.
Braxians are savage with black-on-white eyes that can see every spectrum of light. They will defend their females to the last drop of blood in their huge, blue bodies.
And there are more…so many more Alien warriors to pick from.
Which type of male would you choose?
Too bad you won’t have a choice, because thanks to the Alien Mate Index, an agency that abducts Earth brides for alien males, you could be snatched at any time and turned into a massive warrior’s mate or concubine.
So the real question is—who will choose you?

This is the story of Zoe, a paralegal who leads a pretty boring life, who (unknowlingly) is listed in the Alien Mate Index as a Pure One. The Ancient Ones seeded the galaxies with their DNA, and Earth was a protected planet where that DNA survived untouched, so the remnants of that seeding here on our little planet are known as The Pure Ones. The ironic part for Zoe, is that she’s chosen to be abducted not just because she’s one of those, but because she’s a plus sized girl and for some aliens that’s a standard of beauty.
Abducted is 140,000 words long/485 pages, an amusing, funny read where there’s a touch of the ridicule that I found hilarious (one of the alien characters is shaped like a huge turd). I also find refreshing and appreciate that the author writes plus sized characters and their problems with being accepted as attractive women, though I have read complains about that from other reviewers; well, not everyone can relate to tall, slim and athletic, sorry.
There’s a new universe in this series, with new alien races and their different cultures but with certain touches that reminded me of the Kindred, like having a Goddess of Mercy. I felt particularly attracted to the Vorn, but we get to know only snippets about them, and I’d have loved to know more about them and the other races (Braxians, Majoran, Denarins).
The MMC, Sarden, is sexy as hell, horns included. There’s a lot of sexual tension between him and Zoe, a slow burn (at least for me), the sex will come later in the story and when it comes, it’s hoooot (the build-up result).
In a nutshell, this book is ideal if you need a light, funny and entertaining book, I was giggling like a fool reading this, no excessive drama, a hea and no cliffhanger (the series continues but you can read this as a standalone).

An absolutely spellbinding story! Man, I loved this book! Absolutely, this is a complicated book, but only because it is full of fascinating world building, diverse characters and references to all kinds of geeky obsessiveness and references. Sarden comes off as a real jerk in the beginning, until you get his back story. Zoe is a victim for like a minute, then her awesomeness grows with every chapter. They go after the bad guys, it’s an up and down kind of adventure, but you won’t want to put it down once you start reading it. Check it out, don’t let the plot twists shake you, it is totally worth reading to the end. I’m moving on to the next one in the series, Protected, now. I can’t believe I had this book in my Kindle for more than two years, kinda mad at myself for putting it off for so long now. Don’t be like Louise, read it now!
I loved it!
Action filled hot and steamy sci-fi. I can’t wait to begin the next book in the series.
A very interesting, intriguing, entertaining and enjoyable read. I really like Zoe nonsense attitude but I didn’t like the fact that she had such low self-esteem, unable to believe that anyone could possibly find her beautiful because of her weight. I was like seriously not everyone believe that entire planet of Earth values stick thin females as the only true standard of beauty. Also I really question her common sense. She always get herself in the most predictable fatal messes due to her lack of self preservation she so impulsive and stubborn and at time so naive that her actions causes her own problems or create problems for Sarden. Overall it’s a all encompassing adventure that I can’t wait to continue.
Sorry Evangeline Anderson. I respect you as a writer and love every other book I’ve read of yours. Abducted, though, is one of the worst books I have ever read. Eww! I know it’s 516 pages, and I should have tried to stick with it longer, but I couldn’t stomach it any longer. It was making me nauseous to read that dubious “hero?” Yuck! I can feel the puke in my brain now. I lied on Bookbub. I didn’t finish it. I tossed it out the proverbial air lock into deep space where all junk should get lost.
This novel was very well written and edited, with no typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building in this novel was quite good, with the Twelve Races and the intergalactic community coming alive. However, many parts of the world building of this novel struck me as more of a parody than an earnest attempt at a sci-fi romance world, which I personally did not appreciate very much. The characterization of the hero and heroine was pretty good, with both of them being vibrant individuals. However, I personally could not stand the heroine’s inability to communicate straight out what she wanted and her unwillingness to practice emotional honesty and bravery. I cannot stand people who are like that in real life, so I did not enjoy reading a character like that in a romance novel. Not my fantasy by any stretch of the imagination. The development of the romantic relationship in this novel had a glacial pace, with the first sex scene happening at least 85% into the book and both these characters never really coming clean and communicating honestly with each other at any point, with the exception of the hero finally telling the heroine he loved her at 99% through the novel. The plot and pacing moved very slowly in this novel, with me checking the clock periodically while I was reading and being shocked at how little time had passed since I last looked at the clock. The angst the heroine, especially, felt was surprisingly high for how low the stakes felt to this reader, though objectively the stakes were pretty high in this novel, with the heroine being abducted several times and being sold in a slave auction, etc. The stakes just didn’t FEEL high. Perhaps that was a function of the slow pacing of this novel. High angst and low stakes tends to be my least favorite narrative structure for a romance novel. This novel used the Human Trafficking trope so popular in sci-fi romance novels. The plot and pacing of this novel was four stars, the characterization was four stars, the development of the romantic relationship was two stars, and the world building was two stars, since it was more parody than an earnest attempt at world building. The combined score was thus three stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romance novels that are more a parody. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, because I have never enjoyed parodies of any description. My sense of humor is too dry to enjoy them.

2.5 Stars
If you like her Kindred series you will like this. It’s basically like a cousin to that series. A hunky and odd to humans alien males and chubby human woman have some adventures and fall in love. Nothing too deep. Just a quick cute read.

CAPTIVATING, SEXY AND DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Abducted
Series: Alien Mate Index
Author: Evangeline Anderson
Designation: Book One of Series, Full-Length Standalone Novel, NO CLiffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
Wow! There’s just no other way to start this review so I’ll say it again – WOW! I love, love, love this book. Evangeline Anderson has wowed her readers with Abducted, the riveting first release in her new Alien Mate Index Series and she totally rocked my world – again! Oops…said it again but I just can’t help myself. What can I say, she wowed me. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. But in all honesty, I think I’ve died and gone to alien heaven…. populated, of course with twelve alien races from the incredibly imaginative mind of Evangeline Anderson. And folks, it just doesn’t get any better than this in the science fiction romance genre! My taste in books is very eclectic. There isn’t much I don’t enjoy reading but I truly love romance, adore science fiction and will totally devour anything with action and adventure. When I can find each of those elements in one story, well, I’m in heaven! And that’s exactly what Evangeline Anderson did in Abducted. It had everything you could ever want in a great story including lots of heart-pounding danger, gut-wrenching drama, laugh out loud humor as well as sultry passion and sinfully delicious sex. But I digress, let’s talk about Abducted.
Abducted is a fast paced, well crafted, exceptionally imaginative and totally unique, full length standalone science fiction saga filled to the brim with hot as hades space aliens, action, adventure, danger, drama, suspense, passion, romance, angst, steamy dreamy sex, hot as hades space aliens and some of the most nefarious villains I’ve ever encountered – in any genre. Yes, yes, I know I said hot space aliens twice, but what can I say? They were hot! The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful, curvaceous and very human paralegal Zoe McKinley, and hunky, horned, red-skin, half Vorn-half Eloim, hybrid alien warrior, Lord Sarden de Lagorn. That’s right…he has red skin, horns growing from either side of his forehead just above his temples, and he’s devilishly handsome. What? Hmm….sound like someone you may know….like maybe the Devil??? I fell head over heels for both the hero and heroine of this story which came as quite a surprise since Sarden started the story as kinda, sorta, a bad guy but we soon discover the reason for his actions. And the big guy really grows on you! I quickly came to admire him for his valor as well as his love and loyalty to his sister. And Zoe was an absolute delight. She was so courageous, smart, sassy and spunky but also very pragmatic which I really liked a lot. She was a total believer in the philosophy of not crying over spilled milk, work with what you have and just try your hardest to do something about your situation. She was no crybaby and she didn’t whine. Unfortunately, her philosophy and her efforts always seemed to get her into more trouble. She was totally awesome! These two characters played off each other brilliantly and the interaction between them was off the charts hot! And the other characters are simply magnificent. I even loved the villains! All the characters were fascinating, captivating, engaging, sexy and at times, laugh at loud funny. The dialogue is intelligent, realistic, well executed and flowed effortlessly. And for you loyal sci-fi genre fans, the narrative and dialogue are full of references and nods to popular science fiction/fantasy works, past and present. I loved it! Anderson is an exceptionally gifted storyteller with a boundless imagination. She excels at creating richly depicted worlds with vivid and beautifully detailed descriptions, populates them with unique, intriguing characters who literally explode from the pages and steal your heart, then enhances her creation with futuristic technology and jargon that is sure to titillate the minds of even the most hardcore sci-fi geeks. Anderson skillfully combines every single one of these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining science fiction romance that is sure to make your heart pound and leave you breathless. When Evangeline Anderson puts pen to paper, the result is nothing short of magical which is pretty darn special since this is science fiction, not supernatural. But my point is this, if you’re a science fiction/alien romance fan, then the Alien Mate Index is one super special series you don’t want to miss!
Zoe McKinley hasn’t had an easy life and no matter how hard she’s tried, she’s never been anything other than just plain boringly ordinary. She didn’t make the cheerleading squad in high school because she wasn’t one of the popular girls. She didn’t get into the college she wanted because her grades weren’t up to par. She didn’t get to date Ken Forthright from sociology class because he sat next to a leggy blonde named Krissy who received all his attention. She didn’t get the job she wanted at the really nice law firm downtown because her resume wasn’t good enough and had to settle for a job working as a paralegal at Lauder, Lauder and Associates for an unappreciative boss who didn’t even know the meaning of the words personal hygiene. She’s lost everyone she loves with the exception of her two best friends, Leah and Charlotte. And sadly, she hasn’t had sex in a year, since she ended things with her not so attentive boyfriend Scott who held the record for being the world’s fastest lover and whose vocabulary didn’t even include the word foreplay. Seriously, her life just couldn’t get any worse…..until it does. Her not so nice boss throws a stapler at her head and Zoe retreats to the ladies bathroom to lick her wounds and call her two besties to share her tale of woe. Well, that’s when she’s interrupted by a scene straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Yup, she’s sucked (or I could be formal and say transported) from her boring hum-drum existence right through the mirror of the ladies room at Lauder, Lauder and Associates. Apparently, she’s been abducted by some creepy looking aliens who operate the Alien Mate Index . Zoe has just been selected and purchased by Lord Sarden de Lagorn, a very large red skin, half Vorn – half Eliom alien hybrid with horns growing from each side of his head. And yes, I said freaking horns! And did I mention he was red? Okay I did, but did I mention he had glowing eyes like the devil. Oh my! Surely, her life couldn’t get any worse….until it does….again! Geez, now her life gets interesting. She finally becomes the one thing she’s wanted her entire life – special. Yup, that’s right. Zoe is a Pure One and not only that, she’s a Lat-ti-zal, one who has been especially gifted by the Ancient Ones, the alien race who seeded Earth and the other planets of the twelve chosen races. That’s just awesome and all she had to do was get abducted by aliens! What’s a girl to do? Well, she could start by falling in love with the alien who purchased her, you know, the one who intends to sell her to another alien as a zoo exhibit so he can buy back his younger sister who has also been kidnapped. Oh my! It’s a divinely entertaining story filled with danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, humor, romance and some steamy dreamy sex. And one you will surely enjoy reading! Buckle up my lovelies, it’s a wild ride!
When reviewing and rating a book, there are several questions I always ask myself. First, would I recommend this book? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. Second, was I entertained? Oh lawd, yes! I was completely entertained. Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. The pages flew as did the time with the hours passing seemingly as minutes with my heart beating wildly in my chest. I laughed, I cried and several times, I even shook my fists in anger over the injustice suffered by the hero and heroine. But by the end, I was well pleased, satisfied and entertained. And finally, will I read this author again? Absolutely, just as soon as she releases her next book! Bring on Book Two Evangeline Anderson. You keep writing them and we’ll keep reading them! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
