It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger.
“Wild nights are my glory,” the unearthly stranger told them. “I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I’ll be on my way. Speaking of … Speaking of ways, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract.”
A tesseract (in case the reader doesn’t know) is a wrinkle in time. To tell more would rob the reader of the enjoyment of Miss L’Engle’s unusual book. A Wrinkle in Time, winner of the Newbery Medal in 1963, is the story of the adventures in space and time of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O’Keefe (athlete, student, and one of the most popular boys in high school). They are in search of Meg’s father, a scientist who disappeared while engaged in secret work for the government on the tesseract problem.

To long and boring
This book is amazing that’s all I can say. It’s amazing I love it
Great Book, well written. I would read anything by Marc.
Movie doesn’t do justice to the book. Great read
I enjoyed it even more the second time.
You’ll never want to put this book down!!! 🙂
quick, easy read with great perspectives for children as well as adults.
I understand that the themes of this book are good, the ideas behind it, etc. however I could not get past the poorly crafted sentences. I was thoroughly underwhelmed by this book. This was one rare case when the book is not better than the movie. I know I will be in the minority, people will see I need to look beyond the writing to the message, …
I was more confused when I finished this book than when I started. An enormous threat to the universe is posed in the first few chapters, but once the main characters are all safely home, who cares that the dark blob is still out there enslaving minds?
As a Christian, I was also quite disturbed to find that this book explicitly lumps my Savior in …
A great book, with a wonderful heroine!
It has lots of adventures in time traveling
I actually give it 3 1/2 stars. The story line always seemed nearly complete. Something always wasn’t there that would have made the reading more satisfactory.
It is a good book for parents to read to and with their kids and talk about it. It deals with issues that faced all of us growing up to one degree or another.
It was an amazing book
This is a wonderful story for anyone young or old who ever felt like they were too different to make a difference. It has only the slightest touch of Christian thought in that it suggests that there is pure good and pure evil and has a few Bible quotes. This should not offend anyone.
I have read the newer version and i believe I will love this one just as much
Good classic. Great use of language.
Rereading A Wrinkle in Time was an enjoyable experience. I really got involved in the story even though I still remembered the ending. I thought the children were great characters, especially Meg. Poor, awkward Meg, who doesn’t quite fit in, just like her brother, Charles Wallace. And who doesn’t love Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which? With …
This is one of the magic books that made me a reader. Every reader has a book that touches them and makes them a lover of books. The rich story and the sci fi twists make it a fun book. It is worth rereading as an adult.
A classic must read
