I love a “second time around” romance and this one delivered! Great story!
This is Isaac and Peyton’s story. They were in love in high school but Peyton’s dreams and ambitions took her away to New York. While they never stopped loving each other, they spent many years apart and Isaac got married and had a child. Peyton comes back to town for a Christmas show and is reunited with her first love. Together they have to decide if it is worth starting up something again if Peyton is going back to New York. The feelings for each other are clearly still there but will life continue to keep them apart?
It was a bit slow
Short and chock full with all the feels, this book is a perfect feel-good story, right on time for Christmas!
Peyton Medina and Isaac Donoghue were high school sweethearts but Peyton’s dream was to become a prima ballerina in New York City Ballet, so Isaac encouraged her to follow her dreams and put her in a plane to follow her dreams. Isaac himself had dreams of playing soccer professionally and now, for reasons later disclosed in the story, he’s working at Wright Construction in Lubbock, Texas, their hometown. He’s a single father now, with a precious five year old, Ally.
Thirteen years after they said goodbye, Peyton is coming back to Lubbock to dance in the town’s Nutcracker show. She’s staying for a month, so many possibilities!
This second chance story with a single dad has all the feels, joy, hope, a little despair, a lot of enchantment with a beautiful little girl, and family love. Even Katherine and Camden Percy made an appearance!
Even though this was a short story it felt complete. Lovely plot, great character development, sexy times but not too many, a great chemistry between Peyton and Isaac and lots of ribbing from siblings as is to be expected. Peyton’s grandmother is Mexican and I loved all the dishes she mentions, and I loved how the love that existed between Isaac and Peyton flourished again, this time to stay. It felt like it never went away, just lived dormant, waiting for a chance to revive again, and get better, now they’re adults and in charge of their lives. Beautiful!
Isaac and Peyton were high school sweet hearts but their lives got in the way. She went to New York to study ballet and became a premier dancer. He married but lost his wife in child birth and is now a single dad. Peyton is home to dance for the local dance company and has reconnected with Isaac. The sparks are still there between them and it looks like the fates are lining the stars up in their favor! Will this time around lead them to their happily ever after?
If you try hard enough, you can have it all.
This is the story of Isaac & Peyton. Isaac works for Wright Construction, but the architecture side of the company with Jensen Wright, his boss. He has a daughter who is five years old. Peyton is a professional ballet dancer with the New York City Ballet. Isaac and Peyton were together in high school. That was sixteen years ago. They never really got over each other. Isaac had encouraged her to go to New York because of her love of ballet. Now she is back in Lubbock, TX for a month to perform in The Nutcracker in the new Buddy Holly Hall. They ran into each other at the Lubbock Ballet Company where his daughter takes ballet lessons. Almost everyone in this story is either a friend or an employee of Wright Construction. It’s a small world for sure. Isaac and Peyton do get together while she is there, with the knowledge of her leaving hanging over their heads. Will their love for each other come to fruition this time? This is a great steamy love story. It is a very well written one at that. Kudos to K.A. Linde for a great page turner.
A stunning second-chance romance that’ll grab hold of you and refuse to let go until you’ve finished it. Peyton is a prima Ballerina, home for Christmas and to dance in the local production of the Nutcracker. Isaac is an architect, and a single father to a dance-obsessed, adorable little girl who idolizes Peyton, the one who got away. This story explores characters beyond the Wright family, but is grounded in the Wright world by their connection.
While Peyton and Isaac have built lives apart from each other, but never really moved on in their hearts. Their chemistry is still powerful and their hearts are still engaged, no matter what they believe. And as Peyton’s visit and interactions with his daughter draw them back together, they fall back together naturally. But there are more obstacles to overcome than time for this pair, and I loved every second of watching them fall back in love.
While I’m new to the Wright series, I fully plan to go gather every single one of them now, this wonderful Christmas novella was such an excellent read! I canNOT wait for the next novellas to come.
A Wright Christmas is a quick, sweet and swoony Christmas read with just the right amount of that holiday magic.
Who doesn’t love a holiday romance right? Peyton and Isaac, high school sweethearts who get a second chance – their connection is instant and palpable. Their banter and chemistry makes this story such an enjoyable one.
Its the perfect book to read while curled up with a cozy blanket, a hot cocoa while a Hallmark movie plays in the background.
If you are looking for a heartwarming Christmas book with all the feels then you have found it. Peyton returns home from the NYC Ballet Academy to help with the Nutcracker show in her hometown in Texas. She knew going home would bring up memories of the one boy she loved and left there, but she certainly didn’t expect his daughter to be in her Nutcracker show. Or for the flames to still be there between herself and Isaac. Peyton learns although dance is still part of her life she realizes that she needs dance as well as Isaac and his daughter. What a sweet, swoony, feelgood book.
The perfect escape…the Nutcracker, a single dad, adorable little girl, high school sweethearts and a second chance at love.
Isaac & Peyton made my heart so happySometimes we have to make hard choices and real life gets in the way of our heart’s plans…but the heart wants what it want and will find a way to make it happen. Stubborn little girls who dig their heels in often get what they want too;) And Aly wanted those Christmas cookies
A second chance holiday romance with a hot single dad. This book has checked off all the important boxes. Peyton, a dancer in NYC for the last ten plus years is back in her hometown for Christmas. She happens to bump into her old boyfriend and his daughter at her old dance studio. Once that flame starts to rekindle what will happen since Peyton’s visit home was only supposed to be temporary. One of my absolute favorite things about this book is that it is set in K.A Linde’s Wright Universe. If you are a fan of her books you most likely will know what I am talking about. This was an awesome holiday book with a couple with loads of chemistry, and of course it’s a must read for 2020.
This is my idea of a perfect Christmas book. It’s a feel good, warm and fuzzy story, with just enough twist of heartbreak.
While Isaac and Peyton aren’t part of the Wright family, Isaac does work for the Wrights. Many of the Wright siblings have small roles and there is even a cameo from Katherine and Camden Percy, who are also tied to the Wrights.
Isaac Donoghue and Peyton Medina were high school sweethearts growing up in Lubbock, Texas. At the age of seventeen, Peyton, a ballet prodigy, was accepted into the American School of Ballet. Isaac, who is a unicorn of a guy, encouraged his young love to move to New York and pursue her dream.
Isaac had big dreams of his own. He was major soccer league bound until a personality clash with his new coach benched him and Isaac took another road in life.
Sixteen years pass, before Peyton is able to make an extended trip home to Lubbock for Christmas. Bending her schedule with the New York City ballet like the prima ballerina she is, Peyton makes the payoff of dancing The Nutcracker in Lubbock instead of at the Lincoln Center.
From the first pages Peyton’s homesickness starts to show itself. First it’s the back and forth conversation with her sister, the stark contrast between midland Texas and one of the largest cities in the country, and then there are the pangs of missing her family.
We’re introduced to the Medina family quickly in the plot. They are a tight knit Mexican American family. Peyton’s Abuelita originally immigrated from Mexico to the US. Ms. Linde does a wonderful job of peppering Peyton’s celebrations with some Mexican Christmas traditions as well.
The story is split between Peyton and Isaac’s POVs. We find that the two have not spoken or seen each other since they said goodbye at seventeen. Peyton is shocked to find that Isaac is now a father. More so to discover that he is a widower.
Peyton and Isaac easily fall back into their relationship routine without seeming to notice. While their first few interactions are stilted, they very quickly smooth out into what their high school dating felt like. Emotions and resurgence of old feelings also flare quickly.
The angst of this story comes in some of the same hurdles they battled as teens. Peyton is tenaciously hanging on to a prima role with the New York ballet despite a mostly rehabbed knee injury. Isaac has built his and his daughter’s life in Lubbock with his family and friends as his support system. He has loved and lost Peyton. He has loved and lost a wife. Can he love and lose Peyton again?
Can Peyton walk away from her love of dancing, at the height of her career, to allow herself to be loved as a woman as well as coming home to the family she desperately misses?
These questions swirl around steamy dates, falling back in love with an old flame, unexpected job duties, and high school drama queen theatrics.
Peyton finally snaps and chooses to leave Isaac behind for her career once again. This time though, his family gives him a rough wake up call – leading both stubborn lovers getting their happy ending.
I’d read Ms. Linde’s The Breaking Season earlier this year. That was a dark, tragic, and emotionally wrenching read. One of my favorites of the year though. She brings a softer hand to Peyton and Isaac’s love, while still twisting those life changing dynamics. She has a unique ability to wreck her readers hearts yet finish her books with a strong and loving ending that is both believable and good for her characters.
This novel also leaves us with a teaser for another Wright story, which is now logged in my TBR.
I am a huge KA Linde fan and she has delivered us an amazing second chance romance with a single dad on top!! Two of my favorite tropes.
Issac and Peyton were high school sweethearts that ended when Peyton left Lubbock to pursue her lifelong dream of being a prima ballerina. Fate brings her back to her hometown and back into Issac’s life. The setting of Christmas and the Nutcracker is a beautiful backdrop to this holiday romance.
As always, KA Linde writes an intriguing and captivating story that you just can’t put down. And of course, we got a few cameos from characters from other series of Linde’s which is always a treat.
If Christmas stories are your jam, look no further. Linde gave us A Wright Christmas that had all the second chance feels. By the title you would think it would be about a Wright but it’s not, but a side character. Even with that said it pulled me in. Isaac and Peyton never stopped loving each other, even after a decade apart. But life got in the way. They both had dreams they needed to explore on their own. Now years later they are reunited. The question is, will it all work out this time?

Oh man, it was so much fun visiting in the Wright family world again. I’d forgotten how awesome they all are. And then to add in a huge serving of love and lust and the promise of a second chance romance, a dash of a holiday favorite, and few drops of a precocious five year old and there’s a whole lot more to love found in A Wright Christmas.
I loved the dynamic and the connection and wowza, the heat between Isaac and Peyton. Good lord, I thought my Kindle was going to melt into a puddle of goo at some points when the swoon factor was high—which was pretty much every time they were together. Years and years may have passed since Peyton left to pursue her dream of becoming a principal ballerina—something she achieved—but the two never, ever forgot what their love felt like. How whole and complete they felt when they were together. And even with all that life has thrown at them, they still feel the same way.
I couldn’t flip the pages of my Kindle fast enough to find out just what happens between Peyton and Isaac. To see if they could figure out a way to make Peyton’s month long visit home into something more. Something like the rest of their lives.
This book was exactly what I needed! Low angst, holiday feels, and a connection that can’t be denied. I’m a sucker for second chance romance stories and this one was *chefs kiss* perfect. Peyton and Isaac were high school sweethearts, separated by their own dreams. It was so fun and cute seeing how they fell back together and figured out how to merge their adult lives and dreams into one happy family. I’m not a dancer, and I’ve actually never seen The Nutcracker, but this book makes me wish I had!!
I fell in love with KA Linde’s writing through the Wright Family, and it made my book heart happy to see them again. I can’t wait for more books next year!!
Oh the Christmas Feels. This was sure the perfect way to go back to Lubbock and the world of the Wrights!
There is magic in a holiday reunion. 16.5 years did nothing to stop the hearts of Isaac and Peyton from belonging to each other. Second Chance Romance, between high school sweethearts. So much Christmas Swoon!
Isaac and Peyton knew their dreams were going to have to be chased a part. At the age of 17 they said goodbye. Her to New York to achieve her dream of a Principle Ballerina. Him to college on a Soccer scholarship with the hopes of being a pro soccer player. Their dreams where in two different worlds.
Peyton returns to Lubbock for one month to preform the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy with the Lubbock Ballet Company. Almost the first person she runs into when she returns is Isaac. The man who once owned her whole heart. She also meets his 5 yr old daughter Aly….
This was just the perfectly Bright and Merry story I needed to kick off my holiday season. I could not be more jolly with the way this story was told and played out. It was nice to see a glimpse of Katherine and all the Wrights. I am so happy to be back in Texas with the Wright Gang!
I really did love this second chance romance!
This is my first read by K.A. Linde and I can’t wait to dive into her books I’m a huge fan of hers already.
I loved Peyton and Isaac’s story. It gave me all the feels of Christmas time! After all those years apart one look at each other and they were drawn to each other again, it didn’t matter how many years went by they were meant for each other. I love Aly too just a precious little girl!
Who doesn’t love a bit of Christmas before Christmas? This story is no exception! It was short and sweet. I couldn’t get enough of it. This story makes me believe in the miracle of love even after 16 yrs. The story was heartwarming and entertaining. So much so it was hard to put down.
