Great page-turner with a handsome hero who realizes the bounty he’s after soon needs his protection. A great romance with fun twists and turns and a swoon hero. Great read. This author always delivers a great HEA.
Such a fun story that pulled me in right from the start. And the romance is super swoony!
So much action and fantastic characters . The kids were the stars of the story but wow some of those kisses made even me blush . Overall I loved the story (even the gnome) but I have one question, does Ashe have a story also?
Goodness! Tons of action, bits of humor, tough men intent on honor and integrity (even if one is a bit gruff around the edges), and one tough woman determined to protect the children in her care. The main characters struggled with real heart issues relevant to today, growing beyond what they dared hope for to find the freedom Christ offers. And of course, they soundly defeated the bad guys and fell in love, getting a happily ever after for them and the children they love.
Karen Whitmeyer is one of my favorite authors! Her books are always clean, sweet, and romantic! When I read her books, the characters become like friends and I hate to see the story end.
When I found out Karen Witemeyer needed reviewers for her new book, I practically jumped out of my chair. I’ve been a fan since I read Head in the Clouds five years ago. At the same time, however, I was pretty nervous – I’ve noticed that some authors can get a little lazy as the years go by, and the quality of the writing can suffer. Not the case with Witemeyer. Her first book, Tailor-Made Bride, is my least favorite of her books, but I believe they have consistently gotten better with each book I read.
Witemeyer creates delightfully stereotypical men – big, masculine, men who work with their hands or guns – who always have some unknown soft side. Her women are almost perfect, but always have that one quirk or characteristic that keeps causing them trouble. Together, boy and girl find help in each other and God. Such is the case in A Worthy Pursuit.
Stone is all bounty-hunter, until he has to retrieve a beautiful woman and children who start him thinking about families. Charlotte doesn’t trust men, until she meets one who’s not only trying to break up her family, but as trustworthy as a man can get. It takes a while for these two to figure out their relationship and their current situation, but the journey is a fun, heart-warming read. If you like Mary Coneally books, you’ll enjoy Karen Witemeyer.
This is one of my all-time favorites by Karen. I’ve enjoyed all of her books and would recommend them all.
Loved this book! Stone’s pursuit of Charlotte is so sweet and I really appreciated how he did not give up on pursuing her and how she came to trust him. Lovely book.
This was a wonderful story, I cannot wait to read more from this author!
A delightful book full of interesting characters, a page turning plot and a swee5 romance. Just perfect!
I read this book because a writer I respect liked it enough to use it in a romance writing course. And I can see why, in some points; it was a light, fun read, clean and with everything but puppies to make it adorable.
I wouldn’t use it for a writing course, though. Too many times the action plunged to a halt as the main characters took time out to examine their feelings for each other. I was ready to knock ’em both upside the head–“hey, you’re supposed to be rescuing the kid, not wondering if he/she could really love you or if you could really love them.” There were times when their “feelings” dialogue was good and others where it really didn’t fit.
So I recommend it, but with reservations.
Unusual characters in a familiar setting. A good read.
Karen Witemeyer books never disappoint!
Boring
This was my first book ever written by Karen Witemeyer and it did not disappoint me in the least. The story was so relate-able, and I could see myself in the main characters attitude and heart. I enjoy novels that I can see myself in, especially when they are so inspirational and heartfelt.
“A Worthy Pursuit” is a loving tale about how a teacher became a mother to three children in order to save their lives. Just because someone has money, that doesn’t mean that they should be responsible for a child, and this loving teacher knew that better than most and was determined to keep her charges safe at any cost.
Sometimes life throws you curve balls and things can be more difficult than expected, but the only thing that anyone can do is to continue to move forward one step at a time. This story tells of this and more, a morally upstanding novel.
My favorite characters are the Exceptional Children!! The whole point of the story is to protect them as well as provide a wonderful education for each child. The plot kept that in focus along with the danger.
