With a unique feel for one woman’s struggle to heal the wounds of broken trust, A Woman of Fortune delves deftly into the meaning of family, the bonds of love, and the healing power of faith.
I am not a fan of in your face Christianity in the books I read. Therefore, unlike many criticisms I have read about Kellie Coates Gilbert’s novel, A Women of Fortune, I appreciated that her Christian take on love, marriage, and life was subtle and understated. Instead she stuck to emphasizing universal truths that are the foundation of Jesus’ …
There’s something in us that’s drawn to scandals and wealthy people behaving badly. The British royal family hits the headlines, TV shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Dallas draw viewers. This situation, in Kellie Coates Gilbert’s hands, takes us deep into a troubled family. Despite the fact I’ve never driven a Maserati, I could …
Wonderfully written from the descriptions of the scenery and characters to the little cliffhangers at the end of the chapters. But what really pulled me in were the moments of humanity and understanding as the characters evolved and the touching glimpses of the heartfelt emotion that came through amid the obstacles.
I love anything written by Kellie Coates Gilbert, and this novel set in Texas near where I live is so realistic. I highly recommend it.
Terrific
Claire met Tuck while in college and it was tight the first few years but they made something of themselves. Now they had money, multiple homes and three beautiful children. But Tuck has done some bad things and got arrested. Now they all need to find their way
Emotional story, interesting and a bit long but enjoyed the story and how it ended. Well done, Kelly Coates Gilbert!
A good story with realistic overtones of what could really happen when we let life over shadow God’s plan for us.
It was a good story, but over descriptive.
Very well written on a timely subject. A glimpse into how the other half lives.
I truly enjoyed the point of view from which this story was written. I had never really considered the families in these types of situations. I found that very thought-provoking.
I loved the story!!! Interesting twists and turns.
Very inspired
A terrific book with very interesting characters. I wish it was longer and told what happened in the twenty years before the epilogue.
Wow what a great book this was! Totally different than my usual choice in reading. But the story was great and the characters were wonderful. Thank you for a very enjoyable time.
Difficult to put-down!
I enjoyed reading a story that followed a Christian world perspective. I was shocked that she stayed married. So inspirational to hope that there are still people who honor there marriage
vows through the hard times.
“A Woman of Fortune” was a page turner. While very sad, it had joy and hope for the future, when all seemed hopeless. It captured my interest, and I enjoyed it from beginning to the end.
Kelli Coates Gilbert shows the loss, betrayal and then new starts for this woman of fortune and her family. I could hardly wait until the next time I was able to sit down and read A Woman of Fortune! Enjoy!!!
A tautly wound tale about finding the inner strength to survive daunting life-challenges that could easily tear a family apart. With gritty and relatable characters, Kellie Coates Gilbert’s insightful and compassionate book doesn’t pull its punches, and leaves readers asking ‘what would I do…’. A great read!
I really enjoyed this story! Great characters, realistic current happenings. God can get you through the worst of times!
