A bone chilling thriller that held me captive right from the start. The story is well developed and expertly delivered…and it is chillingly believable. I can’t wait to read the next book in this set.
I received a copy of this book and am writing a completely objective review based on the book with no obligation expected. Stunning, bone-chilling masterpiece!
My first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I liked that Seri is a take charge, no nonsense woman. There should be more like her.
Exciting page turner with lots of intrigue, spies and double crosses. The action is non stop and Seri is a woman of many faces. She’ll keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. She goes from the daughter of a traitor to the somewhat unwilling center of an operation. She’s quick on her feet and Sam, who thought he knew all there was to know, is surprised. Fast paced and hot, you won’t want to stop reading. Looking forward to more from this author. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Hannalore Jones, ‘A Woman like Her’.
As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received this book for free. And promised an honest review. Here it is. English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 4,5 stars (of 5).
In general: An exciting spy and love story.
Main characters:
– Seri Ronin.
Her beloved mom died when she was very young and three years ago her father was killed (during a telephone call with Seri) in an Arabic country working for the US government. In public he’s considered to have betrayed his country, but in reality her dad was an undercover agent. To keep this a secret the government didn’t deny his treachery.
So Seri was harassed by the press as the daughter of a traitor. She tries to forget her situation by alcohol and a lot of one night stands without any feeling.
She fled the USA, lived in foreign countries but recently returned to DC, to her father’s house, with the naive intention to clear his name. In her youth she lived with her parents in many foreign countries, learned to speak several languages and now she worked as a translator for an organisation that cared for children from refugees, especially coming from Middle East states.
– Sam .
His real name is Lucas. He’s working as an undercover agent working in the bar that Seri often visits to get drunk and to meet her lover for one night. Sam tries to learn more about the organisation of an Arabic terrorist, Mohammed, who plans new attacks.
Seri meets Sam/Lucas in the bar when Sam helps her with an annoying drunk. They like each other and Seri offers him sex for one night. Sam accepts, but when they are in his apartment he makes her unconscious so his boss can force her to infiltrate Mohammed’s terrorist cell.
Then the author, Hannalore Jones, creates an interesting story: Seri’s actions as an untrained, but very talented, intelligent undercover agent result in a suspenseful plot and the author describes with insight the mentality of islamic terrorists. There are many intriges, dangerous action scenes and a lot about the attitude to women of islamitic men. The author also writes with credibility how the love between Sam/Lucas and Seri develops even though they at first don’t trust each other because of the difficult start of their relationship.
So for me the book was a pleasure to read.

This book is well written, entertaining, action packed and perfect for romantic suspense lovers.
This was my first book by Ms Jones, and I am definitely looking forward to reading more of her stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! Breathtaking in so many ways! Super spies, evil baddies, a hot heroine and a killer plot. I love a good romance suspense story and this is one of the best. From the fantastic characters to the danger and intrigue to the outstanding storytelling, it all is so incredible that I read straight through to the heart-stopping ending. It starts out fast and doesn’t stop. I love the boss women in this story. They outdid the men! Our heroine, Seri, is my kind of woman. Strong, fierce and owns her sexuality in a magnificent way. I loved her “bad behavior” and the way she takes ownership of it and gives the finger to those that don’t like it. Don’t slut shame my girl! She’s lost everything because of the government and those pesky alphabet letter agencies won’t leave her alone. But when it comes to sexy spy, Sam aka Mr. Freeze, she is ready to be “handled” and boy does he know how to treat his asset. Seri is so hot she makes him lose his nickname on more than one occasion. Their push pull relationship sizzles as they are forced to team up to take out the extremists ready to wreak massive destruction on the world. This is my first read by this author but it won’t be my last. I don’t know if the technical aspects of the story are correct but it rings true with me and the realism of the events along with the current world conflicts makes for a chilling and suspenseful storyline. The secondary characters are terrific and I can’t wait for Jessie and Jane’s story. That’s one seriously hot government ghost. But Sam is still the king of organisms and that one-of-a-kind sexual unicorn! I loved everything about this story. In addition to the spectacular suspense of the story, this author know how to write the best toe-curling, intimate moments between two supremely sexy characters in Seri and Sam. I really appreciate her giving us what I think is probably realistic treatment of spy operatives especially the women. It’s equal parts panty-melting romance and spy-thrilling intrigue that had me on the edge of my seat and left me wanting more. Absolutely fabulous! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
