“James died in Papa’s arms …” Penelope de Wolfe from SERPENTGet ready for perhaps the greatest de Wolfe adventure yet….The sons of William de Wolfe (The Wolfe) are immortal, so they say. Men who are known as ShadowWolfe… DarkWolfe… Nighthawk… are as legendary as their father. The eldest four sons – Scott, Troy, Patrick, and James have always run in a pack. They are all to each other, in … are all to each other, in both brotherhood and in strength. But in 1282 A.D., James de Wolfe, the endearing and gentle brother, is killed in Wales as the Welsh rebel against Henry III.
… or was he?
Tales of a Welsh warrior known as Blaidd Cryf, or Blayth the Strong, are making way to English ears along the Welsh Marches. It’s 1286 A.D., and a Welsh warrior who can somehow read the minds of the English armies is rising to power among the last princes of Wales. With Blayth leading the Welsh armies, the English are being handed defeat after defeat. No one knows who Blayth is, or where he’s come from, but the English warlords are coming to realize that they will lose Wales once and for all if Blayth and his brilliant tactics aren’t stopped.
No one seems to realize that Blayth (the phoenetic pronunciation for Blaidd, meaning wolf in Welsh) may be the most deadly warrior Wales – and England – has ever seen.
Bhrodi de Shera, the hereditary King of Anglesey and husband to Penelope de Wolfe de Shera, youngest daughter of William de Wolfe, has no real grasp of who Blayth the Strong really is. An icon for his people, Bhrodi has been instrumental in helping the Welsh and English peacefully co-exist, and he very much wants all of Wales to know peace with England, but with Blayth leading a resurgence of rebellion along the border, Bhrodi seeks to meet with Blyth to discover who this man is and what he truly wants – a fractured Wales? Or is he determined to unit Wales under his rule?
When Blayth finally appears at Bhrodi’s stronghold of Rhydillian Castle, his identity is shrouded in mystery. It is said that the English, if they discover him, will execute him without question, so Blayth is well protected by his contingent of teulu. But when Penelope catches of a glimpse of the man who has single-handedly caused a resurgence of Welsh rebellion, she can hardly believe her eyes.
Lazarus has indeed arisen – and her brother, James, is back from the dead.
Discover the epic adventure of A Wolfe among Dragons, a tale of mystery, of hope, and most of all, of romance and redemption. When a dead son returns, it can be the greatest of joys and the deepest of tragedies. A Wolfe Among Dragons is truly a story for the ages.

I love Ms. Leveque’s books, and this one was good too. But the main character is dead in books that come after this one, so it just doesn’t seem right. Also, I don’t like William to cry.
Loved this book. She was able to pull a character she had killed off awhile back, and resurrect him in a believable story. Love the way she is able to bring her characters to life and integrate them from book to book. I can hardly wait for her next books.
How do you bring someone back from the dead??? Only Kathryn could do it and make you laugh and cry at the same time. Keep tissues close by and prepare your heart for a great journey.
Made me cry for William and Kieran. Heart wrenching home coming for James
Need a box of tissues – end of series so recommend read from the 1st book. Great series
Could not put it down once I started reading.
I have most of this series and enjoyed this one the most. To bring James back took a lot of work but was well done. I always like it when the deWolf family gets together.
You can’t go wrong with Kathryn LeVeque’s books
I will read this book again and again. I LOVED it!! I love all of Kathryn’s books, but this one was exceptional.
The sons of William de Wolfe (The Wolfe) are immortal, so they say. Men who are known as ShadowWolfe… DarkWolfe… Nighthawk… are as legendary as their father. The eldest four sons – Scott, Troy, Patrick, and James have always run in a pack. They are all to each other, in both brotherhood and in strength. But in 1282 A.D., James de Wolfe, the endearing and gentle brother, is killed in Wales as the Welsh rebel against Henry III. Helping Blayth in stirring the rebellion is the great-granddaughter of the last king of Deheubarth. Called the ‘Dragon Princess’ by the Welsh, Asmara ap Cader is a fierce warrior in her own right. She fights in the rebellion and is deadly in her aim, and even as Blayth leads the Welsh, he cannot help but be attracted to the lovely Dragon Princess who fights so brilliantly beside him.
I don’t think I can say enough about this book! I absolutely loved it! I laughed out loud. I had tears streaming down my face. This book was so full of emotion! I could actually feel the characters. I have followed the de Wolfe family through all of Kathryn LeVeque’s books and I have to say this is in my top two! This is a stand alone book but if you want to feel the book read all of them! I just can’t explain how much I loved this story. Definitely recommend this one!,
I Love the deWolfe family, every one of them! James’ story melted my heart and brought me to tears. I can not even begin to imagine what it would be like to have to leave a beloved son ‘dead’ on a battle field in a war torn country! There is a lot I could say praising this book but I think every one who has reviewed it have voiced my own thought… Except something really bothered me and I must comment. There was too little about Rose finding out her sweet James (whom she had loved her whole life) was still alive. I was left bereft and disappointed by their meeting at Castle Questing. I am a widow and my husband has been gone almost five years. I know a lot can happen in five years, including new love and marriage, but as a wife and woman who ‘died’ the day my husband died and have never fully recovered I KNOW there would have been so much more emotion expressed by Rose when James came back, regardless of his amnesia. I wish there had been time taken to delve into Rose’s emotional reaction (as well as her new husband’s)to learning he was alive. If I were happily and lovingly remarried whether for a year or twenty and my first love came back from the dead I would have a complete fall apart reaction! Maybe Rose needs her own book about how she survived losing her James and finding new love… I would love to read it.
James de Wolfe was the beloved youngest son and brother in the de Wolfe family. He dies on a battlefield during a fight fraught with chaos, and his father and brothers were forced to leave his body on the field rather than take it with them in their retreat for fear of losing their own lives. This was a tragedy that begins this tale.
But, was James really gone? Five years have passed and now an enemy in the north goes by a different name, Blayth the Strong, but there’s just something about him…. Asmara ap Cader thinks there’s something special about Blayth as well. She’s always been a warrior herself, not interested in the men around her until him.
These two people are drawn together through a mutual cause and their attraction to each other becomes more than either thought possible. They become involved in a tangle of intrigue and danger when they decide to determine the truth of Blayth’s history.
I loved this particular story as it has everything! There is romance, battle, tragedy, and yes, there is a hea, and it is a rather interesting one. This tale is filled with emotion and I recommend it to readers of historical romance who enjoy books with each of these elements, and suggest a box of tissue on the side. I think this has to be one of this author’s best yet!
I always love her storys
A Wolfe Among Dragons by Kathryn Leveque is a medieval romance that makes you want to grab your friends and do the “OMG! You gotta read this book.” song and dance. Yes, it’s that good. I’ve only read a few of Ms. Leveque’s books but I see many more in my future. I’ve got some catching up to do, for sure. A Wolfe Among Dragons is a well-written book. The cast of characters is stellar. Blayth awoke not remembering his name or his past. Asmara, daughter of Cader, is a fierce warrior known as the Dragon Princess. Blayth and Asmara’s story is packed with drama, action, humor, sexy bits and suspense. You may need a few tisssues. I loved every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Kathryn Leveque soon. A Wolfe Among Dragons is book 8 of the Sons of De Wolfe Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Gripping saga of love, a family member returned from the dead and an emotional goodbye to a beloved friend. Couldn’t put it down.
loved it.
Everything by Kathryn LeVeque is excellent. I love the history and the story given with each book.
Interesting plot twist with the head injury of a combatant in a medieval battle. Near death, the severely injured man is rescued, provided care until he is able to function again. The man has no memory of who he is, where he belongs; nothing. He is a blank slate that his rescuer uses to his advantage.
Love, Love,Love this book! Fell in love with the characters and didn’t want it to end! Then I found the whole series and have read several more following these characters. Amazing writing and character development.
I seem to start all my reviews of Kathryn Le Veque’s novels the same….and this is no different! Le VEQUE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!
I have been waiting for this book since it was announced and it was everything I’ve come to expect from Kathryn LeVeque and more. I just couldn’t wait to visit with the de Wolfe family again and to discover how James would be “brought back to life”! Admittedly, Kathryn warned in the beginning pages to grab your tissues… I just grabbed my sleeves and proceeded to “ugly cry” for a large portion of a full day of reading. I could not have stopped if I tried. The story had adventure, strong male and female characters, darkness, romance, and happiness, with some profound sadness thrown in keep things interesting. I have read all of Kathryn LeVeque’s medieval novels and continue to read certain ones more than once (most notably any with a de Wolfe or de Lohr in it!). A Wolfe Among Dragons is another in a long list of immensely satisfying reads, which I’m sure to revisit again and again.
