“James died in Papa’s arms …” Penelope de Wolfe from SERPENTGet ready for perhaps the greatest de Wolfe adventure yet….The sons of William de Wolfe (The Wolfe) are immortal, so they say. Men who are known as ShadowWolfe… DarkWolfe… Nighthawk… are as legendary as their father. The eldest four sons – Scott, Troy, Patrick, and James have always run in a pack. They are all to each other, in … are all to each other, in both brotherhood and in strength. But in 1282 A.D., James de Wolfe, the endearing and gentle brother, is killed in Wales as the Welsh rebel against Henry III.
… or was he?
Tales of a Welsh warrior known as Blaidd Cryf, or Blayth the Strong, are making way to English ears along the Welsh Marches. It’s 1286 A.D., and a Welsh warrior who can somehow read the minds of the English armies is rising to power among the last princes of Wales. With Blayth leading the Welsh armies, the English are being handed defeat after defeat. No one knows who Blayth is, or where he’s come from, but the English warlords are coming to realize that they will lose Wales once and for all if Blayth and his brilliant tactics aren’t stopped.
No one seems to realize that Blayth (the phoenetic pronunciation for Blaidd, meaning wolf in Welsh) may be the most deadly warrior Wales – and England – has ever seen.
Bhrodi de Shera, the hereditary King of Anglesey and husband to Penelope de Wolfe de Shera, youngest daughter of William de Wolfe, has no real grasp of who Blayth the Strong really is. An icon for his people, Bhrodi has been instrumental in helping the Welsh and English peacefully co-exist, and he very much wants all of Wales to know peace with England, but with Blayth leading a resurgence of rebellion along the border, Bhrodi seeks to meet with Blyth to discover who this man is and what he truly wants – a fractured Wales? Or is he determined to unit Wales under his rule?
When Blayth finally appears at Bhrodi’s stronghold of Rhydillian Castle, his identity is shrouded in mystery. It is said that the English, if they discover him, will execute him without question, so Blayth is well protected by his contingent of teulu. But when Penelope catches of a glimpse of the man who has single-handedly caused a resurgence of Welsh rebellion, she can hardly believe her eyes.
Lazarus has indeed arisen – and her brother, James, is back from the dead.
Discover the epic adventure of A Wolfe among Dragons, a tale of mystery, of hope, and most of all, of romance and redemption. When a dead son returns, it can be the greatest of joys and the deepest of tragedies. A Wolfe Among Dragons is truly a story for the ages.

Le Veque said to get the tissues. I said, “Oh. I will be fine.” Wrong. Over the years I have read most of her books. The most important one to me is The Wolfe. Everyone needs to read that one first. If that book is read first then you will pretty much know each family. And they become the reader’s family. I ugly-cried when the family circle changed. It was so wonderful to see restored relationships. I never write reviews for Le Veque because she has enough to convince anyone. But this book was outstanding and I had to be heard. I always pre-order her books. She is SO generous. Thanks Author.
Kathryn le Veque has outdone herself with this book of the de Wolfe legacy novel. She has brought the history and the terrible brutality of this time to life and takes the reader on emotional rollercoaster. We have an injured warrior brought back to life, a father torn by his son’s death and his guilt of leaving his son’s body behind in a war torn country. This is a story of a destiny so big we see an English knight with no memory become a legend of epic portion in Welsh history as Blayth the Strong, and Asmara ap Cader is a fierce warrior known as the Dragon Princess, a warrior woman who stand tall and fights among them and by his side.
The romance smolders between Blayth and Asmara. Asmara is a great warrior woman who’s never met anyone like Blayth, she is instantly attracted to him, his strength, his loyalty and honor. She starts questioning his past and what the truth really is, he finally wants the truth and nothing will stop him from finding out what happened five years ago when he was left for dead on the battlefield. Blayth the Wolfe among Dragons questions what he’s been told for five years, he has moments of insecurities, why was he abandoned, who abandoned him on the battlefield and was he not worthy to be loved and taken home after the battle. Be sure and have a box of tissues handy for this emotional love story and the gut wrenching heartache and pain we feel with the discovery of a son long thought dead might actually be alive as William de Wolfe dares to believe his son James de Wolfe is alive and living among the Welsh.
Enjoy the journey of a lifetime where a warrior is returning from the dead to discover his true legacy. This is story of loyalty, honor and the destiny of the men and the women who love them. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review. 5 STARS *****
Another great read from Kathryn le Veque. The best part for me was towards the end and it was so emotional. James is James but not. NO memory plus with the brain injury his speech is slow and he had to learn things all over again, and of course it talks about when it all happened and his father William who was in his 60’s was beside himself at the sight of his son and the fact they thought he was dead and had to leave him behind or they would have been killed by the Welsh as well. But Blayth(James) had been lied to for 5 years by the very Welsh man who found him to use for his own purposes since he didn’t remember who he was. I was so sad for Kieran, u hate for any of the original gang to falter. I was very sad.
This is one that you will want to read over and over. It is such an emotional, adventure that you will not put it down. A Wolfe among Dragons belongs in your library if you are a Historical Romantic readers. This is by far one of the Best Of Kathryn Le Veque.
Well Kathryn Le Veque, you have done it again given us the readers another great and wonderful story. What can I say that has not already been said before by many, but I will give it a try and tell you the reader, be prepared to feel all the emotions that this wonderful author will pull out of you and yes have your Kleenex handy. I love William and Jordan de Wolfe and all their great offspring, but James was always there out front above them all. He was a great knight with a big heart, and all who knew him loved him no one more than the father who had to leave him on the battlefield in Llandeilo, Wales five years past, all thought James was dead and they tried to take him with them But even the mighty Kieran Hage could not stop the flow of the welsh fighters that assaulted them that day. So James was left and the grief and heartache felt by all who knew him never went away. Blayth the Strong was a Welsh hero to the fighters who were getting ready to take their country back from the English. Tall, broad shouldered and with blond hair but terrible scars on one side of his head. He had no memory of his earlier life; he fights for Morys ap Macsen a man whose only goal is to think of himself. Asmara ferch Cader is the niece of Morys she is known as “The Dragon Princess” a beautiful warrior woman. Blayth and Asmara fall in love and with her help and a lot of other forces taking place, we find out that James lives and the joy in the book when all come together will take your breath away. If you are a true fan of Kathryn’s characters, you will feel the loss of an old friend, so have those Kleenexes handy you will really need them. I highly recommend this book and all the other wonderful story’s that Kathryn Le Veque has brought to my world. Thank you once again for an excellent read. A son who was lost is now found and an old friend continues his journey beyond.
WOW!!!! Kathryn Le Veque does it again!!!! She will take you and your emotions for a ride that you will never forget!! James de Wolfe was killed in a battle between the English and Wales.
William de Wolfe had to leave James’s body because they had to flee for their own lives were in jeopardy. William has never recovered from loosing James.
Get your boxes of Kleenex ready as you go through a gambit of emotions. The rest of the characters remind me of THE GOOD, THE BAD, UGLY.
This a book to me is a must read!!
This story comes with a warning that you will need a big box of tissues especially at the end. If you have read any of our author’s previous books you will know the families involved, that just makes it all the more emotional.
Our battle scarred hero has no memory of his life before his terrible injuries. His life now is to do as the man who saved him asks and take his place as the man to lead the Welsh rebellion.
Our heroine is one of the descendants of the last Welsh prince, and known as the Dragon Princess. She has been trained as a warrior and is usually to be found at the right hand of her father in battle.
The Welsh are not the best organized, they spend too much time fighting between themselves. They need a real leader.
Although the central story is a romance, there is much more to it. You will not be able to avoid getting pulled into the lives of all our characters. The family relationships are the central focus. Be prepared to go through every emotion possible.
Trying to read and cry at the same time is difficult, but our author has us doing the same as our characters and battling through it.
A wonderful book that you can read on it’s own, but links to several others. I loved every page.
“Love was something that couldn’t be forgotten.” As I turned the last page, I knew I had to write this review quickly. That is if I can literally stop crying and not sure I can. When a book moves me to this point, I do not want to let go of the story and I know it will be a long time before I do. Wales, 1282, the English are in battle with the Welsh and losing their ground. William de Wolfe, is trying to pull back when his son James is killed. Devastated, he tries to take his body out as does he best friend, but the fighting is so brutal it is either stay and die or leave James’ body behind. Jumping ahead to 1287 AD, the story begins with a Welsh warrior, Blayth the Strong leading a raid on the English to capture land they had lost. He is known as the bastard son of the last Prince of Wales and has come to the notice of the English by his great deeds in battle. But Blayth does not remember anything before he awoke five years ago from having been horrendously tortured by the English. Asmara ap Cader, known as the “Dragon Princess” is truly a fighting machine on her own. Working in battle as she meets Blayth, it is an amazing attraction that develops. Fate steps in and Blayth begins to question his birth and history.
There are not enough adjectives to describe this story. With every book that I have read by Kathryn Le Veque, her tremendous gift of prose makes you feel one with the characters and their emotions. This was truly an epic story full of battles, suspense and a romance that will make your heart melt as these two were truly meant for each other. I will leave you with this thought… What was once lost can often be found again and this is the story to prove it.. Thank you for this story and I know I will read it several times again…
Grab three boxes of Kleenex and get ready for a fantastic return to the World of de Wolfe. Seriously, the opening scene was wonderfully, tastefully written and took the first box. Blayth meets Asmara and the world for them is never the same. She is as much, if not more, a warrior as is he. She has a brilliant mind that is worthy of any military leader and is fearless. He doesn’t really know who he is. Betrayed by one that should love and protect both of them, they finally discover exactly who Blayth is and a few more little surprises. Seriously, between the first scene and the reunion scene, your emotions will go up and down with Blayth and Asmara. This will be a classic for me-re read at least once per year.
First let me say I read the paperback version of this book because I just couldn’t wait to read it. I almost don’t know what to say. After reading this book, I can only advise you to be sure to have a full box of tissues with you while you read it. This had to have been a very difficult and emotional book for Kathryn to write. After James died in a previous book, and many fans expressed disappointment that he would not be able to have his own story. A Wolfe Among Dragons is a very deeply emotional book. The twists and turns of this plot are magnificent. The characters are so well created and elegantly written with such detail highlighting the prodigious differences between their strengths and vulnerabilities. You can’t help but be pulled into the book and experience the sensitivity and duplicity. I really don’t want to give the story away and spoil it for other readers, but I will say this is definitely a DO NOT MISS book! After reading A Wolfe Among Dragons, I felt like I’d been on an emotional journey of my own. I have laughed and cried while reading books before, but this one felt personal. It’s not just reading an entertaining book, it’s an experience. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If I could give it 10 or 15 Stars, I most definitely would.
