She has come to right the balance. He seeks to destroy it… now, his vessel is the evil and mysterious Indra, a witch whose powers only slightly outweigh her penchant for hitting on the help.
Too bad Alex is cured and once again immune to Indra’s invasive magic. A healing from which Sam almost didn’t come back.
Hina, the wolf mother goddess, has sworn to protect her cubs. And she lives on… inside Samantha Knight. Sort of like that still, small voice of reason. Except MAGICAL and pissed at her ex. If Sam can’t find a way to heal the wolves and stop Indra from harming them, the goddess will take matters into her own hands. But an appearance like that promises destruction, chaos, and worst of all: no more Sam.
Indra isn’t holding back.
Sam is on the run.
Alex is in a cage.
The clock is ticking.

A Witch’s Soul is the fourth book in the Witches of Half Moon Bay series and let me tell you this series just keeps getting better. Sam has gotten really comfortable with her magic but that means that Hina, the moon goddess, is also getting stronger within Sam. She’s boosting Sam’s magic but she is also starting to get get more vocal and no one knows what that means for Sam. Not to mention Indra is still sending the wolves after Sam, the god, EA’s diabolical plan is in the works, and the supernatural organization CHAZ is not being helpful.
Sam has to deal with a lot but she is stronger than she was and more determined to win this war against the hateful god even without CHAZ’s help. She has back up with her friends and hunters, EJ and Brittany, her brother Breck is still around and just as dangerous as ever, and Sam has Alex, who is finally cured even if CHAZ stills have it out for him. Alex and Sam have come a long way, they still have some things that they have to work on but they are becoming more partners with Sam doing what she needs to with her magic and Alex taking a more supportive role. Instead of Alex trying to protect Sam from everything by trying to tell her what to do, he’s listening to her, what she needs and wants. As a result of these changes Sam and Alex grow closer with Alex more devoted to Sam than he was before, they really do make a cute couple.
The story flowed really well, once again Kelly Pruner does an excellent job narrating the story. I loved that Alex opened up more to Sam, finally hearing more about Alex’s childhood gave Alex more dimension. The more information I get about the god and goddess the more interesting I find it. The story of Hina and Ea is interesting and to see the war predicted starting to play out today is making everything more real. A couple of new characters were introduced in this book and while there wasn’t much time spent on them they did introduce new and interesting magic.
A Witch’s Soul was a great read. Things are most definitely getting interesting, Ea and Hina are ever more present, the romance between Sam and Alex is great, the danger from the wolves and a betrayal no one saw coming all make for a compelling story. A Witch’s Soul ended on a shocking revelation, I wonder what else is gonna happen.
This story continues from where Esperance left off without much story recap. Alex and Samantha have some things to work out and they need to decide if CHAS are the good guys or not so good guys. Indra is still causing havoc and we meet a couple of new characters. Kelly Pruner brings Sam and Brittany to life, but could use work on the boys. This newest installment of the Heart Lines series is just as action packed as the first three. Can’t wait to listen to the next one. Thank you, Heather.
