In Book 3 of Cas ‘ adventures of becoming a witch and solving murders on the side, we see her in the role as a hotel manager to some very peculiar guests, solving another murder and trying to get better control of her magic.
Fun to read – especially when her magic backfires again, small thrills when facing powerful witches and good sleuthing. A fun mix, quite down to earth, despite its being set in a magic community.
A great holiday-read.

This is book 3 of the series and honestly, I don’t believe this can be read as a stand alone. I started this and was so lost, I went back and got book 1 and 2 to read first. That answered a lot of questions, and made it a much more enjoyable read.
This book revolves around Cas who at the age of 50, discovers that she is a witch and there are things like sprites, fairies, etc.
Nice story concept, good characters, entertaining dialogue, and all in all, a good read.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes

I really like this series so far it is so funny. Cas got her powers late in life and it shows because she is trying to get her powers under control and having her new boyfriend Graham and being her neighbor is kinda hard but it is interesting to watch. Well written and the characters are funny.

Love this new addition to a new series for me.
There is a line in this book that might explain why she got her powers so late. Remember I have not read book one yet. Yes I know I need to do that.
Wow, I knew that Echo had a past but this….. Did not see it coming, knew part of it but wow. They got the silent communication thing started too. Wonder how that affects the communication and growth of their relationship – next books?
Fast fun easy to read. can be read by itself. I know I missed book one and have a feeling as the series grows will need to keep up. The character growth is going to grow by leaps and bounds, I think. That means you will want to go back and catch up too.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
I found this book to be an extremely enjoyable read. It has a great combination of mystery, murder, suspense and humor.

Cascade Lorne finally found a mentor and she’s doing much better at controlling her magic. I like that Cas is smart and capable, and can handle more than she thinks. She’s also learning how to maneuver within the magical community and the High Council. She allows magical guests to stay at the Lodge before the renovations are finished and then can’t turn away a human family with small children when they can’t find anywhere else to stay, adding a little humor and craziness. But she is up for it, and her friends have her back. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one in the series.

Cascade Lorne has finally found a witch mentor that is helping her control her magic. Of course, her mentor is an ex-drunk who seems to love putting Cas through her paces. Her new hotel is still undergoing renovations, but she allows the arch sirens and others having lodging so they can pick a new Arch Siren. Things don’t go as planned when someone is murdered and an acquaintance of Cas is suspected of the crime. Now Cas has her hands full trying to solve the murder, reversing a spell gone wrong, and making sure her guests are safe and sound.
This book is a fun read full of non-stop action, adventure, a bit of humor, mystery, and page-turning suspense. It is well written, engaging, and I highly recommend it to readers.

A mysterious meeting was going on in the former ski lodge which was being renovated. The Visitor was meeting the Newcomer whom she was blackmailing. The Visitor was haughty and arrogant, thinking her magic was the most powerful and that she felt fully in charge. As she met with the Newcomer, she ignored the warning her brain sent her concerning the items on the table that she began handling because greed had already overcome her senses. Now her brain sent her an alarm as what she was handling started to crumble in her fingers. The Newcomer flicked two magical fingers and the paint cloth that had covered the items flew into the Visitor’s mouth, the other end forming a perfect noose. When it was finished, the Newcomer dropped something and left the room.
Cascade Lorne is a new witch who, at the age of 50, is still learning how to deal with her magic, and working on renovating her new boutique hotel, a former ski lodge. She even has a sexy boyfriend next-door named Graham and is very pleased with the current state of her life. Joe Burdock, recovering alcoholic and now witch mentor, was commenting on her slowness and being out of shape as she ran up a steep hill carrying paint cans after having run for two miles. She could hardly breathe and couldn’t see how this physical effort was teaching her about magic. So he explained that she needed strength and endurance in her body to be able to control spells and master the power of her supreme magic. Burdock had recognized her supreme status, making her one of an elite few witches with the innate ability to tap into enormous quantities of magic, because his mother had been like that too.
Waiting for Burdock in the yard, Cas bent at the waist to touch her toes and saw long silver-blond hair, tangled and streaked with mud, sticking out from under her hedge. The hair belonged to Silver Riverman, the Conclave Trustee who was in charge of coordinating everything when a conclave convenes to elect a new Archsiren. She was not well liked by anyone, which makes the suspect lists that much longer. When Waverly becomes the obvious suspect – and Graham points out that may be “too obvious” to be true — Cas knows she has to drop everything and find the murderer who likely framed Waverly. With the investigation and managing her hotel, Cas is going to be one busy lady! Does she know the murderer? Are she and her guests safe?
This book was a fun read with a good story line and interesting characters. Grab your copy and follow along as Cas tracks down the clues to find the murderer – before the murderer finds HER!
Cascade Lorne, a fairly new witch is finally figuring her magic out (somewhat). Everything is going great in her life until there is a murder. This book was a fun read that I hated to see end. The story gets better with each book. I received an ARC copy from Booksprout and am leaving an honest review.
Great read! Cascade Lorne, a newbie witch at age 50, graciously opens her resort early to host several members of the conclave. With witches, vampires, pixies and humans in the mix, Cas has her work cut out for her trying to figure out who killed Silver. Plenty of suspects. Love this series. Can be read standalone but better if you have read other books in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cas is working towards getting better control of her powers. Given her strength and age, it is especially not easy.
And now is the time for the Enclave. Her Inn is a work in progress, just far enough along for Cas to accept some overflow guests. And one human family, bless them.
Murder is a given among so many power hungry duped. Casting blame when convenient and annoying also par for the course. New threats, allies and enemies old and new.
Intense and fun read!
