Cascade’s fresh start is put in jeopardy as she’s thrust into a new mystery with fanatics desperate to hide their secrets—including someone near and dear to her heart.

She wasn’t born that way. Cas got her witchly powers suddenly one day in her fifties. Now she’s trying to establish herself and control her powers, which are considerable and embarrassingly out of control. And the politics and jealousies of the supernatural community make it all the more difficult. And then there are the murders . . . I’ve been reading this series from the beginning, and the installments just keep getting better – they’re funnier, scarier and more addictive with every installment. Recap is sufficient that one need not start with the first volume of the series – but that would be your loss – the volumes are delightful, every one.

I really enjoyed this book but then again I am loving the series, so there was no doubt this book would be any different. This is book three in the series and you don’t need to read the books in order to enjoy them but if you don’t you are missing out on a real treat full of quirky characters and humours antics. The plot line for the series is unusual in the fact that Cascade is late coming into her powers and despite turning fifty is trying to come to turns with magic in the world and how to control her powers. As you can imagine this leads to some amusing backfires , then throw in a couple of vampires, playful pixies, a talking cat, a fitness freak for a mentor and a human family and things are going to get interesting. I liked the mystery and the murderer was never even on my radar. I can’t wait for the next book.
It is time to choose the next member of the high counsel and with so many visitors in town to take part in the conclave, Cascade is asked to host a number of members, despite her boutique hotel not being open for business. The renovations isn’t up to the high standards of someone of the guests and surprising Waverly, the grand council secretary, is the person to stand up for Cascade and in doing so she becomes the prime suspect when the complaining guest is murdered. The victim had reached her high position by ferreting out other people’s secrets and using it against them. Would someone kill to keep there secret hidden? Her mentor has her on a fitness regime, as she needs to be in better shape before she can start to learn magic. Cascade also has he hands full when a family of normals have no where else to turn and arrive at the same time as the fun practical joke playing pixies. Can Cascade find the time to catch a killer? Can she afford not to?
I like the narrator and think she weaves her own sort of magic because listening to this book the hours just flew by in a blink.

Cascade is working on controlling her emotions to be able to begin casting spells. Just becoming a witch at fifty leaves her behind. She is finally allowed to case a spell only to have it backfire on her. With her hotel In renovation, early Paranormal guests and humans coming as well. What could go wrong? Well murder for one.
This is a great cozy paranormal mystery chalked full of kooky and interesting characters and hilarious situations. It’s a great mystery keeping you interested until the end. Cas is an amazing character even when she creates pink polka dot bats. It’s fun, creative, unique characters, suspenseful, romantic and exactly how a cozy mystery should be.
She has got control.of her powers, she is in love and her work on the hotel is going well. Is it all too good to last? A killer strikes leaving her a gift on her doorstep. She is going to have to work hard to find out what is going on. Nearly everyone around her is hiding secrets. Will she be able to stop the killer before they strike again? This was a wonderful book. I love this series. The characters are so much fun. I love the adventure, and storyline. I could not put it down!!!
This is a fun witchy series that keeps getting better and better. I love the characters in this story and really enjoyed the storyline. This is a short cozy with lots of twists to keep me guessing.

From a mid age witchy crises to embracing her magic, Cascade’s journey has been an interesting one.
In this part of the series, we see a stronger more confident Cascade, who is willing to play whatever kind of curve life throws at her. I have totally enjoyed meeting new characters in Crystal Springs and reconnecting with old much loved characters from the last books.
Looking forward for more.

A Witch Too Bright finds Cas learning from her mentor and hosting people at the lodge. A misused spell has a direct effect on Cas as she tries to solve the latest mystery and keep chaos at bay in the lodge. This story was well written, but it did seem to drag in places.

Things are moving for Cas, her love life is settled now that Graham the shifter next door is officially her boyfriend, she has bought the old ski lodge and is renovating, she finally has a mentor in Burdock (who has gone from alcoholic to guru in the blink of an eye!) she does feel like she should be learning magic and not just running up and down the hill at the back! But Burdock insists, she needs a strong healthy body to control her strong magic (and as a rare “Supreme” she has a lot of magic!)
Crystal Springs is hosting the conclave for the voting of the new Archsiren, a major event that brings in supernaturals of all different backgrounds, Witches, Pixies, Vampires??
Cascade has been convinced by the Conclave trustee/organiser Silver Riverman to host some of these incommers in the rooms she does have available. And to add to her load, a human family arrive looking for a room, with everywhere booked solid for the Conclave Cas takes pity on them, it is only for one night after all (what do they say about the best made plans…..)
Silver is not the most likeable Witch but she certainly gets things done, including being murdered and dumped in Cas’s lodge gardens, at first it seems obvious who killed Silver and an arrest is quickly made, but sometimes the most obvious suspect isn’t the right one!
Between keeping her human guests away from the practical joke playing pixies and looking after her more special guest’s with their blackout curtains and their own special fridges?? And all the other guests each with their own special needs (Including one with a reptile familiar with a kleptomania problem) not to mention training every day with Burdock, Cas finds herself investigating Silver’s murder, and with so many suspects, all it seems with a secret to hide! She could really use her magic training stepping up a gear to actually teaching her some MAGIC! And you know how well that is going to turn out?!
This is another great book in the series, though it can be read as a standalone, you would be missing out if you have not read the previous books, I reiterate what I have said in my reviews for them, I love that Cas is in her 50’s and finding her feet, is such an unusual aspect in the Witch Cozy genre, as well as the really great writing and humour it makes it stand out in this genre
I enjoyed reading this book. The story and characters are well written. Love Cas. If you love witch cozy mystery books then I recommend reading. I know I loved it!!

Cas is in training..although it feels like her mentor is trying to kill her. She can;t understand why running uphill, UPHILL, will help her with being a witch. She;s 50 and is in semi good shape thanks to yoga and swim but..RUNNING UPHILL!! Then her life becomes a living disaster! Although her motel isn;t ready she;s been asked to host the supernatural for a conclave. Now into her life and motel have come pixies, a weird visitor from overseas, a deranged woman/witch and coffins. Can anything else go wrong!? OMG! Humans have arrived!
A chuckle inducing story with seriousness inside.
Fantastic story and read!!

Cas graciously opened her lodge to visitors for the conclave to vote in a new Archsiren. She also learns a new spell, messes up, and then glows, hence the title. Unfortunately, there is a murder. The victim is a truly horrible person, so no one is sorry to see that it happened and were really surprised that it hadn’t happened sooner. This opened up the possibility of many suspects.
It took me a while to get into this book. Once I did I couldn’t put it down, but I was 70% through it before that happened. Still it is worth the read.

Which witch did it?
A Witch to Bright is the third book in the Crystal Springs Cozy Witch Mystery series. Cas is still learning to control her magic with the help of her mentor, Joe Burdock. Life is good with her boyfriend, Graham and all is well with the witch world. Until Cas finds a body and her friend, Waverly, is accused of murder. Can Cas find the murderer before it’s too late for Waverly?
This is a well-written, funny read with terrific characters, lots of action, and suspense.

So imagine the trouble it would cause to suddenly a 50 find out you are a witch. Well this is the situation for Cascade. This third installment finds her involved in a murder mystery when a guest, if you could call them that, at her hotel is murdered. You can possibly read this by itself but would be much better if you start with book 1. I always enjoy Paula Lesters books and this one is no exception.

Having not read the previous two books in this series, I would definitely recommend reading them first. I was a bit lost at some points while reading, as I didn’t understand some references. However, this is a lovely, well written book, with wonderful characters, and excellent world building. I enjoyed the many possible suspects, and the great ending. Overall, a truly magical read!

This is my first book in this series. It was an enjoyable read with interesting characters, but I felt I was missing some history so I may have to go back and read the first few books. As a cozy mystery though, it was well written and I’m looking forward to more.

The beginning dragged and I found myself skimming. Thankfully it picked up and I ended up enjoying the rest of the book. I will say having never read another book in this series, I didn’t get the references to earlier actions that must have taken place in previous books. I would highly suggest reading the other books first. Or checking out the Sunnyside Retired Witches books from this author, those I found were more of standalone books and quite witty and fun.
