A Wish for Us was an emotionally charged, new adult romance that hits you with the feels and the angst, and in the best ways possible!
Cromwell Dean is brooding, broken, and a musical genius. One of the biggest EDM DJs in Europe, he feels and sees music through colors. Bonnie Farraday lives and breathes music, and like Cromwell, she too feels music. She also has dreams and aspirations, wanting to one day play in concert halls around the world. Bonnie and Cromwell are like oil and water, two opposites yet their connection is magnetic and it’s truly beautiful to behold throughout the story. Together, they’re the perfect symphony. They create notes and melodies that seep into your bloodstream, all while mending each other’s souls.
Once again, Tillie Cole has blown me away with her beautiful storytelling. Heartbreaking and inspirational, A Wish For Us left me rearing with goosebumps all over as I felt the music through words and they not only touched my soul, but shook me to my core!
Five colourful stars! Let Cromwell seduce you with his beats and music!
Do you hear that? Yes? No? Well, it is my heart beating as fast as the wings of a little hummingbird. A Wish for Us by Tillie Cole has left me with a deep hole in my soul that is eating me out slowly in the best way possible. This is the first time I read a book written by Tillie and I wonder if I lived under a rock like a starfish because I have missed so much about her work. Why did nobody warn me that her books are a roll coaster of emotions? She played with my heart. She broke it and put the pieces back together like nothing happened.
M*rde! I still have puffy eyes after all the tears I shed because of the beautiful and heart-warming story inside the pages of this book. I can’t tell you the number of times it felt like my heart was outside my chest. A Whish for Us consumed me, mind and soul. Piece after piece made me feel a lot. I felt utterly and completely embedded in the story!
Bonnie and Cromwell will have a special place in my heart. Their love story is like no other. Their souls met in the right moment. Their passion for music sealed their fate and their love wrapped them in hope.
The pacing is fast, the plot is all-consuming and the characters are fiercely complex, well developed and they are too real. I laughed, I cried and I shed many tears by their side. Each chapter made me fall deep into the story that was created by a talented lady who knows pretty well how to play with her readers’ heart. This book gave me so much feels. Tillie has managed to reduce me to tears and heart soar with hope as she delivered a unique and overwhelming story through the voice of such wonderful and strong characters!
I love the writing, the angst and the drama. Everything was perfectly packed in order to create a wonderful masterpiece. It is an authentically page-turner! A Wish for Us blew me away!
The heroine of this book is a strong fighter and a dreamer. Music is her life and her love for his twin brother is deeper. She has a weak heart but music runs through her blood. When she was a little girl she was inspired by a talented child. His passion made her fall in love with music. I find myself quite indentified with Bonnie. She is not fragile, she is strong. Meeting that boy will change radically her world.
Cromwell is a tormented musician who tried to hide his passion for classical music. He is the bad boy of the music, a marvellous and talented composer. He sees and feels the music in a different way. The colours guide him and heighten his emotions. He is cocky, sinful and hot AF! And did i mentions that he is British? Yup! He is exactly the kind of hero that has the power to break your heart. Let him seduce you with his beats and music!
Bonnie and Cromwell are like the moon and the stars. They shine in the darkest moments. At first, they don’t tolerate each other. But the attraction between them will pull them like magnets.
This book is about music, true love, hope, friendship, dreams, colours and unbearable chemistry. It is a unpredictable journey with a lot of twits and turns that leave you breathless and wanting more.
How can a broken heart love with the intensity of million stars? How a broken boy can repair a heart? Hope is the answer.
I implore you to read this book. Tillie has bewitched me with her elegant and emotional writing. I promise this is not going to be the last time I read Tillie’s books because from now on I won’t miss any of them. She took the enemies-to-lovers-romance to a new sinful and emotional level.
Advice: Don’t forget lots of tissues because you will shed many tears and will end with a snotty nose! This book could break your heart but don’t be afraid, your soul will crave more!
Tillie always writes something that keeps you interested. This book didn’t disappoint. A male lead who sees colors as he hears them. A musical genius. Interesting storyline. Something different I had never heard of. Beautiful story with characters that are fascinating. I recommend this book.
***5 ‘It Illuminated The Room’ Stars***
I truly did take the warning to heart.
I did.
I absolutely did.
I mean when the author says that tears will be shed, especially THIS author, I believe her.
When another blogger I follow on IG told me she was a sobbing mess, I believed and started in on a plan to read this book where, should I get to the teary/sniffly stage that it wouldn’t be in a public setting.
Well, I kinda failed on that because I got to the teary/sniffly stage in a public setting (i.e. work) and despite my best efforts to tell myself to finish the book at home after work was pau to save myself from the WTF stares (and trust me when I say I’m snorting at myself for even considering that as an option) I just couldn’t.
I couldn’t put the story on pause. I NEEDED to find out what would happen with Cromwell and Bonnie and can we just say my heart was destroyed by these two, and even though it has been pieced back together and I am smiling ~ even if it’s with the threat of tears happening ~ it’s still a little wonky from the journey with these two, and this book as a whole, took me and I can honestly say I wouldn’t want it any other way because this book was beautiful, even at its most heartbreaking and angst filled moments ~ it was simply beautiful.
I adored Cromwell and Bonnie. Even when I wanted to rail at both of them (one more than the other) because of the things they did, or didn’t do, I couldn’t help but feel for them. There was an honesty to all that they did and how they felt that made it hard not to connect with them. As for their romance. It wasn’t smooth and easy, but it felt real. The connection they found with each other was so strong that it broke down all their carefully constructed walls and what comes out of it is pretty freaking amazing.
A Wish For Us was definitely a journey, and one I’d gladly go on again even though my heart feels as if it’s been put through the wringer. The angst is real in this one, there are many moments where it is overwhelming, but the moments of humor, heat and heart ~ especially heart ~ that balance it out and make getting on this emotional rollercoaster worthwhile. As for everything else, there are two secondary characters that I ended up adoring and loved what they brought to the table. There was one…concept/aspect (I hate when words elude me) in the story that absolutely fascinated me and I loved how it was integrated in and felt as if it was an actual character because it played such a huge role throughout it all, especially because it triggered a lightbulb moment in regards to the cover.
I know that this review is all non-spoilery and vague, but the cone of silence is necessary and when you do pick this one up to read, you’ll find it was totally worth it going in as blind as possible. Also, if you do Spotify, check out the A Wish For Us Playlist and listen to it while reading because it takes the story to a totally different level.

Tillie Cole owns my soul and all of my tears. I am in awe of her and this book. A Wish For Us is one of the best books I’ve ever read in my life. I’m not going to lie, it’s heartbreaking, torturous and there are several moments that will make you ugly cry. And I don’t regret reading one single word of this brilliant and devastatingly beautiful novel.
Cromwell and Bonnie’s story is so passionate, moving and heartfelt. Cromwell is an exceptionally talented DJ who was gifted child prodigy and classical music composer. He has a very painful past which attributes to his tortured heart and soul. Bonnie is a kind, gentle, loving and courageous young woman and also a classical music composer. Bonnie is the perfect person to repair Cromwell’s broken heart and soul. She admires him and his talent, inspires him and becomes his everything. Their shared love of classical music is what brings them together and ignites an all consuming and incredible love affair.
The way Ms. Cole wrote A Wish For Us is so real, raw and descriptive and I could feel the music through her words. Once you read it, you will understand what I mean when I say, I could see the vibrant colors and hear every single note that was played. Every emotion that Cromwell and Bonnie felt, I felt it too. And I loved it with every fiber of my being. Of course it wouldn’t be a Tillie Cole book without high levels of angst and a huge plot twist. And I’ll just leave it at that.
Their love story is priceless and everything you will ever want in a romance book. A Wish For Us resonated with me for days after I finished it and will continue to do so for a very long time. I highly recommend you take a chance on reading this book, you will not be disappointed in the least.
This had my heart
The cover of this book is a perfect description of this book! I didn’t get it at first. But having read the book. It really makes sense now. It’s absolutely fitting. The way music and colors play together in this book. Just makes me think of everything differently. How truly amazing it would be so see things in such a way!
But I’m also extremely torn too. The way how everything played out. Huhhh it was a lot.
This book was extremely good but there was a lot going on. Too much at times. This book tackles a lot of heavy subjects. I almost felt like I was getting pulled in too many different directions. I think what Bonnie and Cromwell were going though should’ve been enough. But to throw in the rest of what everyone was going through I felt was just too much. I wish I could say more. But I don’t want to give the story away.
Another thing I was kinda torn about was Cromwell being with other girls. It was hard for me to fully embrace and fall for Cromwell. Him being with other girls for over 35% of the book was just hard to feel for him. I felt his pain and the torment he was going through every day but the relationship with Bonnie was hard to see! I felt for her. Because you know there is something wrong with her and you know she wants all the feelings with Cromwell. But seeing him with other woman was hard on her. I just couldn’t see past all that. I could tolerate it in the beginning because there was no relationship in the beginning between them. Just a seed that was planted. But… once they formed a relationship/ bond it was hard to see him with other girls. It took a toll on Bonnie too.
Cromwell does redeem himself. And he let’s Bonnie into his head and his world. And I found it to be truly fascinating. Cromwell was given this great gift. And once he was able to let his walls crumble down. He was fully able to unleashed his talent again. He was able to see past his regrets. The things that were holding him back. But… I also think that his talent was a lot to cope with. At times it was so overwhelming for him. It never turns off. And it was hard on Cromwell. I felt for him.
This book overall was a good read. But, I wish there wasn’t so much going on. At time I felt like Cromwell got the short end of the stick with all the stuff that kept happening to him in this book. And I felt it took away from certain story lines that I would have liked more focus on.
*ARC provided for an honest review*
I have no words…this book was amazing. Hands down the best book I’ve read all year! It deserves all the stars and colors in the world.
This story is described as an emotional rollercoaster and it certainly delivers. I have only read Tillie dark stuff and haven’t venture into her YA. I was completely blown away. I was a total emotional wreck and could not comprehend what I had just read. After reading this book you will understand the cover which makes this story even more beautiful.
I have to apologise that I’m not saying much about the characters or story. You are going to want to read this story with your eyes and heart wide open knowing nothing, it’s the best way in my opinion to experience this story. After reading this book I wanted to read all the other YA books.
Audible Version
I’ve been on an ugly cry kick lately and A wish for Us delivered it in spades. The story of Bonnie and Cromwell ripped me to pieces…and Easton – I loved that boy so very very much. I’m pretty sure I cried more than I laughed. From the first page to the last I was invested in their world and was sad when I had to say goodbye. Tillie Cole wrapped it up like no one else can and slowly put me back together again.
The narration was on point…I’m not sure I would have walked away with the same gut wrenching feeling had I chose to read it instead. Angela Moore and Jay Skelton brought this book to life for me. Such a beautiful story!!!
Be Prepared!! Have Tissues at the ready !!!!
I went into this book blind and hadn’t even read the blurb, so glad I did!
What i got was a unique book, filled with emotion, and a young couple that will leave their mark on you!!
Cromwell and Bonnie, most definitely didn’t start out as a couple you could imagine together. Both with issues and secrets. But one thing connected them and that was their drive and ambitions in their love of music. As with us all, music can sometimes be like a road map of our life, for this couple it was filled with intensity and so much more !! Their embers soon turned to a hot steaming blaze that will emotionally charge you, leaving you, with dilema’s, heartache, shock, emotionally wrought and an impact that will hit you hard. Their journey has a uniqueness that captivates you on all levels, life lemons and Hope!!! This truly was an anxious yet beautiful read, thought provoking and heart crushing, yet fills our romantic hearts. Without a doubt a couple i know i will want to return to !!
This was such a beautiful, unique story. The characters were really well developed and their behavior was consistent to their personalities, making it such an honest read.
I’m a mess
I’m a total mess after this book. I don’t even know where to start with this review. I knew it was goin to be like A Thousand Boy Kisses. But I still had to read and eye throw the last 50% of the book. This story is heart breaking, beautiful, colourful, deep and emotional. Cromwell and Bonnie’s are brilliant characters I luvd them together. There relationship didn’t start perfect and they had to go through hell. But Bonnie was just what Cromwell needed in her dark life. He might of been one of the most successful DJ’s but he carried around a lot of baggage. Life has been easy for him it seem like it has with woman, drink and success but it wasn’t what he really wanted. What he did want was buried deep well is was until Bonnie Farraday came long with her smart mouth.
Bonnie God I luv her she is amazing. The things this girl has gone through is crazy but she is alway strong no matter what life throws at her. And believe she has had a lot thrown her way. Now she has to deal with Cromwell Dean . After meeting him before and getting the rude arrogant side of him she wasn’t looking forward to seeing him again. But that couldn’t be help now they were in the same class. She never thought she would see him again after that night. But life had plans for these 2 they were meant to be together it was just going to be a tough ride.
I didn’t think I book could kill me like ATBK but this was way worst. I was sobbing reading this. Bonnie and Cromwell’s story just had me balling. I liked how they met and hated each other then seeing them start to warm to each other then it turn it to a perfect luv story. There was so many things I didn’t see coming. This author really know how to write the perfect book. The emotions I go through with every book she wrote is crazy. I really can’t get enough of her books. I knew this was goin to break me and it did. But there isn’t one thing I would change every sad part and happy part were brilliant. I can’t recommend this book enough. Just make sure you have the tissues ready you will need them. I’m sorry if this review doesn’t make sense im still broken. I think I will luv Cromwell and Bonnie and there story for a long time.
Before I get to my spoiler-free review, just let me say this: you’ll need a big box of tissue for your way through Cromwell and Bonnie’s journey and you’ll end up sobbing the Dean Winchester I’m dying tears throughout and by the end of this beautiful, heartrending story.
So don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Cromwell is a 19-year old British EDM DJ, rising up the ranks of the European music and club scene. He should be having the time of his life, knowing he has his audience eating out of the palm of his talented hand, but he’s not really because
“the numbness I lived with every damn day made me feel virtually nothing inside.”
So he’s numb and unfeeling until the girl in the purple dress gives him a reason to feel again. And damn is their journey everything.
I know that Tillie Cole, or someone at least, compared A Wish for Us to A Thousand Boy Kisses, but considering I haven’t read that, or anything of Tillie’s other than Riot, I have no basis of comparison for this story. All I know is that it got me right in the soul, right in my heart. It made me bawl my eyes out. It made me feel, boy did it. I knew Tillie could write the hell out of a story, being that I read and LOVED Riot, but even it didn’t prepare me for what I’d feel during and after I read this story.
If this sounds like something you’d dig, or even if it doesn’t, get off your butts, get your fingers 1-clicking, and download A Wish for Us today, right freakin now!
5++ Stars
I don’t even know how to put into words everything I felt while reading this or how utterly beautiful this story was. From the moment I started I was captivated and instantly transfixed. So much so that I literally read through the night, not able to put it down. I cried so much with the amount of emotion filled in every page. Cromwell and Bonnie’s story was one of originality and filled with so much depth, it took my breath away.
The connection they shared, their passion for music and how it filled their souls. I truly believe music is a universal language and their story brought so much life to that belief. Every emotion, good and bad was conveyed with notes and colors and shapes to bring life to it all for everyone to see. I am truly BLOWN AWAY by the passion in this tale of love, loss, pain, heartbreak…pretty much every emotion imaginable is represented.
I haven’t shed so many tears since reading Tillie Cole’s “A Thousand Boy Kisses.” Her way with words, is truly staggering. It felt like she reached in and grabbed hold of my heart with every word and controlled every beat from start to finish.
This is, by far, her best work and the most beautiful story I have ever read. I’m left speechless.
4.5 stars
“He may be the fastest-rising DJ in Europe, but what he was playing wasn’t his passion. It wasn’t his purpose. He couldn’t fool me.”
A Wish for Us was a very beautiful and inspirational story, but it was also a major tear-jerker. The cover is perfect for this book. I love Tillie Cole’s writing and ability to tell a story. She always comes up with very original stories, that keeps you intrigued until the end. I have read all of her books except one (19!), and I still can’t get enough of her. This book is about Cromwell Dean and Bonnie Farraday, who are pretty much the opposite of each other. They first meet in the England, which ends on a bad note, and are reunited again in South Carolina. They both don’t want anything to do with one another, however when they are paired for a composition project, they have to spend time together.
These two had a very rough start and that continued for a while. However, both felt a connection to each other. Bonnie, is very sweet and driven to make her dreams come true. Cromwell, is broody but also has a lot on his mind. I loved seeing these complete different characters come together. They grew so much in this book, and it was absolutely beautiful being able to witness it. Bonnie is essential in Cromwell realizing where his passion lies. She was such a great support, but the same can also be said about Cromwell. This book is also a major tear-jerker, at least it was in my opinion. I couldn’t contain my tears when Cromwell and Bonnie had rough times. I felt every emotion the characters felt, and I was there with them feeling the same way. This book was sweet, emotional, heartbreaking, uplifting and very inspirational. When I got to the end, I just didn’t want it to end. Tillie Cole delivered another phenomenal story with A Wish for Us.
Cromwell Dean is a star. A DJ with a career on the rise in Europe. Women to his feet, flattery on all sides. But his life seems to be stuck in limbo where he feels nothing. And that’s all he wants. Stay away from any kind of feeling. Until a girl in lilac dress challenges him and bother him with just one sentence.
Bonnie Farradaw was born, raised and educated in South Carolina. After a trip and a unexpected meeting at Brighton Beach, everything she expected least happened: the DJ with whom she had a seaside conversation became her twin brother’s roommate. Plus, he’ll be her partner on a music college project throughout the college year.
The connection of both with the music is undeniable and this is what brings them together despite the resistance of Cromwell and his denial. His rare neurological condition is seen by him as a blessing and a curse. He feels everything in a such intense way that he feels like he could tear himself apart.
Bonnie is full of life. For her music is the food of the soul. Through music she understands and feels the composer’s emotions. Her curiosity keeps her always interested in Cromwell because she wants to know what happened to the prodigy boy of classical music who became DJ. But she also hides her secrets.
To see through the pages of this book Cromwell rediscover himself while living with Bonnie it is like watching the sky be taken by a rare and intense rainbow after a turbulent and intense storm. Watch him learn to deal with his frustrations through his passion is unique.
One of the most difficult reviews I’ve ever written. A sensational narrative. A reading full of tenderness. Romantic and at the same time profound. It involves and causes the most diverse reactions and feelings. An explosion of sensations. A unique experience in vivid colors and intense emotions. Able to cherish and destroy your heart.
Still reeling from this emotional rollercoaster. This book is a must read!
I don’t even know where to start with this review. I was scared going in because this book had been placed in the same category as A Thousand Boy Kisses so i knew it would be a tough read but Jesus’s Christ is it worth the pain.
This book has gone straight to the top of my favorite reads ever i can’t stop thinking about this book from it’s perfect cover that speaks the story to Tillie Cole’s writing being absolutely flawless. I couldn’t stop thinking about the story even when i wasn’t reading it and i will never forgot the story.
When we first meet all the different characters in this book it’s almost like they are all facing such different battles and they were all heartbreaking in their own way. I must admit i can be an easy crier in books, but the way Tillie Cole writes i was a bloody mess but i think it was more to do with the story being so emotional, even when there were happy times i would cry because i was just so god dam happy and Tillie Cole’s writing knows how to pull at the heart strings.
Bonnie and Cromwell both had my heart aching throughout the whole story from both the battles they face to the connection and emotion you could always feel coming off the pages from these two characters. I have never felt a character so lost as i did Cromwell he broke my heart with his past, his story and his character was everything to me, he was a jerk to start off with but sometimes i loved that about him. Bonnie was a beautiful and caring character from the start to the finish she was strong and very determined. Even though the characters didn’t get along at the start you could still feel the connection.
The way she describes the main characters feelings towards music was beautiful and the care Tillie Cole takes with certain subjects in this book was is just so amazing and caring and that’s what had me loving this book. It wasn’t just about the main characters it was about Professor Lewis, Bonnie’s mum and dad, Bonnie’s twin Easton, they were all such special characters
The music theme was everything to me in this book the way i felt when the author wrote these scenes i felt i could hear the music and see the colours she describes and it really drew you in and had me feeling so connected to the story.
Tillie Cole knows how to keep the story going and you turning the pages until you needed to find out all the secrets and twists that happen in this book some i could see happening and then there were some that just had me at a losts and thinking how does she do it and make this story more than what you thought it could ever be.
This story absolutely had it all, angst, emotion, heartbreaking, happiness, sadness to the point that this book will forever be a favourite i wish i could read it again for the first time already.
This book deserves so much more than 5 stars, but i can’t so a massive, huge 5 Stars for this beautiful story.
**Music makes you feel and gets into your soul. It’s magic!**
I don’t know how to put this in words ‘cuz after finishing this book, it just left me speechless. All the feelings and emotions you are experiencing in this story, it’s overwhelming. Lots of what happened, at one level, you can relate to and that’s something that makes a story so unique and heartfelt. It’s definitely one of my favorites of this year!
Cromwell is one of the upcoming top DJ’s in the world but there’s something much deeper inside him that got lost in the last few years. He has the ability to feel music and to make it into something more special. Being a DJ is not all he is capable of but that’s one thing that he buried a long time ago and won’t go ever back to. When he first meets Bonnie, it’ll be something he won’t ever forget but when sun sets she’s gone and it’s a conversation he can’t let go. When he goes to college, he meets her again. Even though he is so lost and angry, the more he gets to know her, the deeper he seems to be falling for her. But there’s something that Bonnie hides, even from her twin brother, that will devastate them in a way he never thought possible. Will he take a chance and in return give her the light she desperately needs? And most of all, will he get back to the one thing he loved the most?…
