His life has gone to hell. Now his heart is about to go to the dogs.Beelzebub has the perfect job: manager-in-chief of Hell…until the number of condemned souls nosedives, and God slaps an “Out of Business” sign on the Fiery Gates. Now Beelzebub is just a laid-off demon banished to live out a mortal life in his idea of perdition: Los Angeles. Complete with nosy neighbors and a yappy, pint-sized … nosy neighbors and a yappy, pint-sized dog that won’t stay off his lawn.
Jillian Torres is finally free of one hellish relationship and has no interest in going down that road again. So what if her best friend reports that their new neighbor is super-smoking-hot? Jillian’s hands are too full running a Chihuahua rescue to notice or care…until Rufus, one of her escape-artist rescue dogs, makes a beeline for the man’s yard.
Three things hit her immediately when she meets Benjamin Blake. He’s definitely super-hot. His grumpy attitude doesn’t quite hide the sadness in his smoky hazel eyes. And Rufus adores him. Thus begins Jillian’s subversive quest to win Ben’s heart — for Rufus. But along the way, Ben and Jillian find everything they never thought they wanted.
Note: This third book in The Devil You Know series is a standalone romance with no cliffhanger. Contains a fresh-off-the-River-Styx-boat demon, a rescue-minded woman, a single-minded Chihuahua, a crime anyone with a soul would commit, and puppies.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. A Wing and a Prayer by Christine Pope is the third and final book in this trilogy. We’ve seen Lucifer and Asmodeus find their mates and now we come to Hell’s final member of management, Beelzebub. This funny and heartwarming story begins with God reassigning the demons of Hell, much to Beelzebub’s horror. This fast paced story has love, lust, drama, humor and chihuahuas. I found this read amazingly entertaining and just couldn’t put it down. Thee book can be read as stand alone, but why deny yourself the pleasure of Lucifer, Asmodeus and Beelzebub’s discomfort at finding and understanding love. A great series like only Christine Pope can write!

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beelzebub is in charge of hell. And he is content? Happy? Not sure what it is. There just aren’t as many bad people showing up in hell lately. Then God comes on the scene and says he’s closing down hell. So Beelzebub gets to retire to of all places Los Angeles. Across the street from a lady who rescues Chihuahuas. He’s got a beautiful old house, plenty of money, an awesome car, and absolutely no idea what he’s supposed to do.
Jillian, the chihuahua rescuer, it’s something that Beelzebub isn’t. She is kind, forgiving, loving, gentle, and will cry over a dead puppy she’s never even met. And she’s beautiful. Not the kind of person who would show up in hell. Ben, Beelzebub’s name on earth, is fascinated by her. And she is fascinated by him. He has a ton of money, this beautiful old house, and yet doesn’t seem to have any income or any friends or any hobbies and he wears these outdated, but stylish business clothes: suits.
He becomes her partner in crime, a volunteer dog sitter, a puppy feeder, and so much more.
This is another sweet romance novel where Ben and Jillian and her neighbors learn just as much about themselves as they do about each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope you will too.
I read Sympathy for the Devil (The Devil You Know, #1) and Charmed, I’m Sure (The Devil You Know Book 2) of The Devil you Know series and enjoyed them so much that I looked forward to reading Book 3. It is a romance in the style of the first two: Beelzebub, a down-sized refugee from Hell is relocated to Los Angeles, City of the Angels. He meets a neighbor who happens to be attractive but recently divorced. Neither of them wants to start a romance, feeling they are just not suited for any kind of encounter other than just neighborly friendship. Of course, we know one thing will lead to another, but the way this unfolds is humorous, tender and touching. There are guest appearances from Book 1 and 2 as Ben remembers being betrayed by Lucifer and Asmodeus. The story is most enjoyable, the dialogue sweet, and the characters quite lovable – surprising, considering Beelzebub’s previous reputation as a dour sourpuss.
