New York Times bestselling romance author Jude Deveraux makes her debut in the world of mystery with a story of old secrets, deadly grudges and an improbable group of friends who are determined to uncover the truth regardless of the consequences… been boring her and she’s found herself back in her hometown of Lachlan, Florida, remodeling the grand old mansion she’d admired as a child. It’s much too big for her alone, but she’d die before letting anyone in town know that.
Then Sara’s niece Kate is offered a job in Lachlan—a start in what could be a very successful career in real estate. She accepts immediately, but with so little saved up, she’ll have to approach her estranged yet incredibly famous aunt for a place to stay while she gets herself settled. But when she arrives at Sara’s home, she finds she’s not the only long-term houseguest. Jackson Wyatt already has his own room, and though it’s impossible to deny his good looks and charm—he’s clearly got her aunt wrapped around his finger—she’s also never met anyone who irritates her quite like Jack does.
However, when two skeletons are accidentally uncovered in the quiet town, this unlikely trio is suddenly thrust together by a common goal: to solve a mystery everyone else seems eager to keep under wraps. United by a sense of justice and the desire to right old wrongs, Sara, Kate and Jack will have to dig into Lachlan’s murky past to unravel the small town’s dark secrets and work to bring the awful truth to light.

A haunting story, kept me guessing. The author goes to great lengths to describe the character’s experiences in WWII. They bring to life the horrors of the Battan death march and the atrocities of the South Pacific. Sometimes I wished the story moved a little faster. And maybe the ending was a bit unsatisfying. Still, a fascinating read.
I have been reading Jude Deveraux’s books since the mid-80’s. A WILLING MURDER has a whole new cast of characters. Sara a successful writer; Kate, Sara’s niece; and Jackson make an unlikely and interesting trio. They use all of their abilities to find a murder before someone else is killed. The plot takes a few twists and turns. I hope Deveraux brings these characters back in the future.
I have read quite a few by this author in the past but this the first in a few years and it did not disappoint. Every thing that I have read of hers have been so good you don’t want to put it down.
I liked this author years ago so thought I would give this book a try. Unfortunately, it fell short with little of interest in the way of being a mystery. The characters were not compelling and although I managed to finish the book, it was far from being memorable in any way.
Loved this book and even though I knew who the killer was it still had some great twist to the story.
Loved that the resolution was more complicated than most.
Excellent read.
Always a pleasure to read Jude Deveraux books. This one kept me interested from start to finish.
Good book. Unique story line.
It was just ok!
A fun who done it ,with a twist and turns.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Loved the characters. I can’t wait for the next book. I liked the writing style.
Jude Devereux is a very talented author. First attempt at the murder mystery genre and was fairly successful. She is much better at romance novels.
I enjoyed it very much.
Jude Deveraux’s has ventured into the mystery realm with A Willing Murder. Her characters are believable and I was unable to predict the identity one of the murderers in advance. I did have suspicions about the murder’s partner in crime, but it didn’t come together until the end.
I figured this out early on, including the connection between Cheryl and her father and the boyfriend. It wasn’t disguised too carefully, and was easy to deduce. There was a red herring or two thrown in to make you question your theory, but it was still evident.
Usually, I really enjoy Jude Deveraux’s witty and funny prose, but in this book, it didn’t hold the same pleasure. I was actually a little disappointed.
Hopefully, the next book in the series of these amateur sleuths will be more enjoyable for me.

This story has to be true somewhere in the universe, you just can’t make this stuff up! There is so much of the unexpected in this book. The characters are outstanding! So different and no skimping on any of them! And just when you think you know The Who and why, you get a twist or a surprise. Read this book!
A new series by Jude Deveraux, Medlar Mystery
Looking forward to reading another of her mysteries
I love Jude Devereaux’s books, but this was a new genre for her. I thought it was a wonderful read and thoroughly enjoyed it.
