A Williamsburg Christmas is a sweet quick read to put you in the Christmas mood! I love Williamsburg so that setting was great! Widow Holly Silver and her mischievous twin sons were great characters. The leading male protagonist is Trent Conway who Holly loved in high school. Has Trent changed since he left Holly for college and apparently never looked back? You will enjoy this romance and descriptions of Williamsburg at Christmas. I received a complimentary copy of A Williamsburg Christmas from the author. This is my honest opinion.
A Williamsburg Christmas is a beautifully crafted story. There are great characters including Holly, Trent, Shirley and Holly’s twin boys. The twin boys add humor and mischief to this sweet Christmas romance. I like how the twins try to fix up their mother. I thought A Williamsburg Christmas was well-written and it proceeded at a steady pace. It is set in beautiful colonial Williamsburg and I enjoyed the descriptions of the city along with the history. I like how Shirley used slang from the 1950s in her speech. It helped to capture the era along with the attire worn by the characters. Shirley is a lively character and a good friend to Holly. Trent is happy to have encounter Holly. He realizes that he messed up the first time and wants a second chance with the woman he has been unable to forget. Holly lives and acts as a Christian (non-preachy). She is passing along these values to her two active boys. Anne Greene provides such charming Christian romances. A Williamsburg Christmas is a lovely, Christian romance with Christmas spirit.
I had a good time reading this book. The matchmaking schemes of a coworker and the antics of 8-year-old boys made for a fun story. This was a sweet Christmas read and I would recommend it
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.
A historical town dressed in the spirit of the time, a hero and heroine long lost to each other and young and mischievous eight year old twins, what more would you need to make a wonderful Christmas story? These elements plus even more make it meaningful and fun.
Friendship plays a big part in the story too. Holly and Shirley work together as waitresses in a colonial style inn. They each have the others back. Holly is a Christian and a widow with twin boys. Shirley is single and a non-believer but God finds a way to work in both their lives.
I loved the author’s description of Williamsburg and all the scenery and Christmas decorations. It made me want to visit there, especially during the holiday season.
There’s plenty of evidence too that God always has better plans for our lives than we could ever imagine for ourselves.
It was set in the year 1955, and although the use of slang words were prevalent at that time, I personally think there was a little over use of them. But that’s just my humble opinion and my only negative thought about this entertaining novella.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise.
This is a beautifully crafted Christmas story. It
takes the reading to Colonial Williamsburg during
the Christmas season. You see the colonial outfits,
the beautiful decorations throughout the city, you
get to go on a carriage ride to see the city and feel
the Christmas spirit from the author’s detailed
descriptions. The period details were lovely. I enjoyed
some of the old fashioned words and phrases.
Holly Belle Silver and Trent Conway were once an
item in high school then Trent left for college. She
never heard from him after that period of time.
Holly was left broken hearted and untrusting in love.
Holly eventually met her husband. They were
parents of twin boys. Then tragedy struck……her
husband died in a plane accident leaving Holly
to raise the boys. They are eight years old now and
all boys. Holly and the boys live in Williamsburg now.
Holly is a waitress at Ye Old Queen’s Inn.
One night a musical group arrives at the Inn for
entertainment. Lo and behold….Holly spots Trent
playing in the group.
There is undeniable chemistry between the two but
Holly would never to able to trust him again or
would God intervene? Would Holly be able to forgive
him and start over after all this time?
This story has a powerful message of forgiveness.
Plus the message of God’s forgiveness and love if
we only trust him and obey.
A magical, heartwarming Christmas read!!!
If you have time for only one Christmas novella this year, make this the one! It is captivating and heartwarming, with likable characters and the charming, historical setting of Williamsburg. This is the perfect cozy story to read in an evening in front of the fire or wherever your favorite place to read is. The year is 1955, and the language of the times is evident in the conversations of Holly, Shirley, and Trent. Christian faith underlies everything in Holly’s life, with gentle, non-preaching words and behavior.
Holly’s life centers around her 8-year old twin boys, Rake and Randy. Her husband died in a plane crash two years ago, so this young family is celebrating another Christmas without him. There are people determined, however, to get Holly back into the dating world again during an era when marriage is held in much higher esteem than today. Her friend and co-worker, Shirley, and her twin boys each have someone in mind for Holly. The greatest surprise, however, is when her high school sweetheart, Trent, shows up as part of a band playing Christmas music at Ye Old Queen’s Inn where Holly and Shirley work.
Trent and Holly had to separate when he started college. He promised to stay in close touch with her, but Holly never heard a word from him again. Ever. Without an explanation. She met and married Vince, the father of her boys, and they had a wonderful, faith-filled marriage until he died. Holly has had to put together a new life for herself and her boys, and recently moved to Williamsburg. She loves everything about the historic town and plans to make it her home. As for dating? No. She isn’t ready to consider it yet, especially after the date Shirley set up for Holly with Bob, one of the band members. Nor does she want to trust Trent again, even though her heart remembers her first love. Trent says he is living out his Christian faith now. It might be challenging to determine which person, if any, that Holly lets into her heart, but one thing is for sure, her twin boys are going to help all they can.
I enjoyed everything about this novella, from the strong, likable characters to the laughter Trent brings into Holly’s life, to the author’s descriptions of beauty for the Christmas season. Williamsburg sounds beautiful, and I enjoyed reading some of the history displayed through the homes and shops. I appreciate the friendship that Shirley and Holly share after a short time of working together, and the lengths Trent is willing to go through to bring Holly back into his life, even having to share a secret he would rather forget. Seeing the struggles of a single mom making her boys top priority after God, and wanting a stable environment for them, pulls at the heartstrings of this reader. The ending is very satisfactory, with every loose end tied up. I highly recommend A Williamsburg Christmas for those who enjoy historical Christmas stories, Christians, and romance.
From a grateful heart: I received a copy of this novella from the author, and this is my honest review.
We often hear stories about high school sweethearts who drift apart, end up marrying other people and then find each other again in later years. This is what happened to Holly Belle Silver and Trent Conway. Trent’s well-to-do family convinced him that he needed a wife more socially prominent than Holly and he caved in to their pressure, leaving Holly with a broken heart. Two years later she found love again with another man and enjoyed a happy life with her husband and twin sons until the unthinkable happened and her husband died suddenly. Hoping to create a new life, she has recently moved with her sons to historical Williamsburg. It is there that she encounters Trent again and he is very eager to revive their relationship from ten years ago. Can she dare to trust him again? Would her heart be able to survive another heartbreak? And how does a confirmed bachelor deal with eight-year-old twin boys? In one telling conversation, Trent tells Holly “Let’s call you being here a new beginning. I’ve gained some wisdom in the last ten years. I’ve learned what’s important in life”. (p. 45)
Anne Greene has a way of writing stories that capture our imaginations and tug at our heartstrings and she knows how to add the perfect details for the settings and time periods that she chooses. A Williamsburg Christmas is set in 1955 and she mentions spaghetti straps and nylons held up by garter belts. I was five in 1955 but I remember both of these well. As a teenager I visited Williamsburg but her descriptive talents make me eager to see it during the holidays. Beautiful shops, colorful street decorations, and the Christmas music blaring from speakers all paint a festive Christmas season. She even mentions some of the food served and shares the recipes for Applesauce Bread Pudding and Colonial Molasses Cookies. Yum! I am eager to make them for my family!!
A Williamsburg Christmas is a short novella that is the perfect length for people who are about to get busy preparing for their own Christmas holiday. It is an enjoyable story and once again Anne Greene shares a sweet romance between people who love God and want to serve Him. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys Christian fiction and Christmas stories.
I received a complimentary copy from the author but I voluntarily chose to write this review. I was not compensated for offering my opinions.
A Williamsburg Christmas by Anne Greene is a delightful novella about finding love at Christmastime. Set in the 1950s Ms. Greene does a great job of drawing the reader right into the era with descriptive scenes and use of the popular lingo of the time. Holly is a young widow with a classy chassis and a mug to die for or so her meddler friend Shirley says. But Holly wasn’t ready to date yet and then her former first love shows up. Is Holly willing to let him back into her life after he broke her heart so many years ago? And what about those rascally twin boys of hers trying to fix her up with dates! A Williamsburg Christmas is a fun romance that readers who are fond of second chance love will not want to miss. And a fun bonus is that the author has included a few recipes in the book too. I was given a complimentary copy of the book and was not expected to write a review. The opinions are my own.
A Williamsburg Christmas by Anne Greene
Love how this story plays out. Starts in Dec 1955, the year I was born and it’s located in Williamsburg, a place I’ve yet to visit but it’s on my list.
Love hearing of the shops in town and all the decorations.
Holly is a single mom, widowed of two young boys. She works as a waitress with her friend Shriley who’s set her up for a date with Bob one of the muscial group playing at dinner.
Her ex friend Trent is also there playing the French Horn-she had tried to find him after school but he had moved on, without her.
She has faith in God but has all but given up on love til she sees the deliveries the next day: flowers, candy and a letter….
Like how she accepts the gift card and thinks it’s from her girl friend… Like how she has many choices of men to select from-different backgrounds.
Love batering and how life was back then. Like how they find they have mutual religious beliefs. Love hearing of the food choices available.
Qutie a surprise to find out what his real job is-after college. Recipes included-what a treat!
Love hearing of the displays available, can’t wait to go soon, very similar to one in MA I donate my time to knitting for their outfits..
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end and about the author. Love this novella!

Holly is set up with a guy that she first met in high school in a Christian group. Now he has alot of jobs, one he was even willing to quit in order to date Holly. He does have alot of making up to do with Holly to get in her good graces, since his parents persuaded him to stop seeing her long ago. But there are a few guys in the running for Hollys attention. Even her 2 twin boys are trying their hand at the match making. It was very interesting what happens. Definitely recommend.
