“A Wild Ride: The Adventures of Misty & Moxie Wyoming” by Niki Danforth is a really fun and magical story about a girl and an old horse and saving animals.
Moxie Wyoming wants a horse on her tenth birthday so she can ride in the rodeo like her mother and grandmother did when they were young. She does get a horse but not the one she hoped for. Instead Moxie Wyoming ends up with an old horse named Misty who falls asleep in the middle of the day! As Moxie and Misty become friends, Moxie learns that Misty has special secrets that make her not such an old regular horse after all! When Moxie and her friend Pickle learn about some horse thieves who are after the wild herd of Mustangs in the area, the story becomes an exciting adventure about saving these Mustangs and catching this gang of bad guys.
I really liked this story because it’s not like a normal mystery. My favorite part is the part where Moxie first learns about Misty’s secret. Moxie admits that she was wrong to think Misty was not special just because she was old. The same thing happens through the story where not everyone always does the right thing and Moxie and Pickle are surprised to learn that not everyone who seems to be nice always is, and that not everyone who seems to be mean are bad.
My favorite character is Misty because she doesn’t let what people think about her bother her. She knows she is special and that’s what matters. It’s not always easy to remember this, especially if people are mean to you. I also like the drawings in the book because they show more about what is going on in the story.
I think this would be a good story mostly for girls but boys might like it too since it has a lot of adventure and mystery. It looks like Misty and Moxie may go on another adventure soon. There is also some information at the end of the story about Mustangs and Grizzly Bears and a note and pictures about the real Misty and Moxie!
This is a Must Read book for all animal lovers! It is a heartwarming story about a girl, her horse and a special pair of pink boots. This book is for ages 8 to 80. Grab it today, you won’t regret it! Wonderful Western Children’s Book – Great Gift Idea!
This is a great story and a wonderful idea. On one page is the written story and the opposite page is the picture to color. The story is just great. It should keep even older children interested and could be a fun bedtime story. It contains everything my grand children enjoy – cowboys, horses, dogs, ATV’s and so much more! I think this would be an excellent gift or something to keep the little ones busy for a while. It would be a great addition to that special toy box for exceptionally good behavior or sick days
